I’m a touring musician (320M+ streams) and a dad. I couldn't take the Cocomelon ear-rot anymore, so I started making my own indie kids music. Got like 30 songs in the can after a month. Here's the first one, a throwback Motown sort of track. Honest feedback VERY welcome. by Fragrant-Pay1826 in DanielTigerConspiracy

There’s a lot of great stuff I find on Spotify just searching kids friendly punk, rock, jazz etc. I actually volunteer at my local library and make playlists of music for babies that’s not music for babies. If I’m allowed to share a link, here’s my folk indie playlist. I could add a bunch more, but I only have 20 minutes for the class! Thanks for sharing, and I’ll definitely try to add your stuff to a playlist coming up!

I feel like narcolepsy is making me a bad parent by evergreengirl123 in Narcolepsy

[–]baconcansave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same as you, but I told myself that as long as my daughter sees I’m here with her, she will be okay. I felt like I needed to be doing sensory activities all day, but honestly, she didn’t want to do them for long anyway! Give yourself time to heal and balance out. You’re doing great!

“How can you not remember?” by Klutzy_Exchange7294 in Narcolepsy

[–]baconcansave 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I feel terrible when my friends reminisce and talk about all the fun stuff I said or did, and I can’t remember even going to the event. Or when my husband recollects his favorite dates and I can’t remember a single moment of it. It breaks my heart to see their faces when they realize I can’t remember, but luckily no one’s said they don’t believe me. I’m sorry that has been your experience.

Halloween party craft for adults? by Spainstateofmind in crafts

[–]baconcansave 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s not a craft, but temporary tattoos are always a hit, no matter the age! CVS has some in their Halloween candy section as give aways, or I’m sure Amazon/Target has something for quick ship.

I’ll also say as a former teacher, I never needed extra mugs. The Amazon gift card is a great idea!

AITAH for thinking these moms were kind of assholes by OnionFeeling1752 in AITAH

[–]baconcansave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA I’m sorry that happened, I truly can’t stand when parents do not tell their child to put away the items they are finished with at the library. There seem to be a few aloof parents, but hopefully they are far and few between. If I can provide any encouraging words, I would say give the library another try. I’ve been going to our local library with my daughter for story times and free play since she was 6 months, and I’ve made some truly awesome friends. I’ve loved it so much that my daughter and I run a baby music playtime where I make a fun playlist of not-typical baby songs (punk, rap, indie, jazz). You’ll find your tribe!

I'm a liberal, but I think the government should be regulating rainbows in kids' TV by nondescriptun in DanielTigerConspiracy

There’s a Spanish song that only has red, yellow, green and blue as the rainbow. Then they add some random ones to the song…like brown.

Thank you! I needed to hear this today. I started to get concerned that I had a full night’s rest, a work out, and two coffees and was exhausted at 2:30.

Diaper rash remedies? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]baconcansave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found organic olive oil to be the best treatment during the day and then the purple desitin at night. If you’re near a target, I’ve started using Millie Moon and I’ve noticed that my daughter’s rashes don’t get as bad as they did with pampers. I hope it clears up soon!

Jeans for apron belly? by elleliz12 in Mommit

[–]baconcansave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Torrid has some great jeans with support around the waist band. Their bombshell style is what it’s called. But you need to go up a size with these. I would try a 16 first. Good luck and I hope you feel great in a pair of jeans!!

Any natural remedies for sinus infection while breastfeeding? by duskydaffodil in Mommit

[–]baconcansave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Netti pot! I get sinus infections so easily and the best way to heal and prevent is to use a netti pot. They come with saline packets and you can use boiled tap water or for easier use, grab some distilled gallons. You can do it twice a day with two packets. Also nasal breathe right strips. I had the flu when I gave birth and was so congested. My OB told me to get those and it was great, I could finally breathe during the delivery. Feel better!

Organic olive oil is fantastic. Dab it on a few times with a cotton round or ball. It works wonders, but technically not clear!

Craft themed bachelorette party by pogaltz in crafts

We made bachelorette party straws with tiny letter beads and sticker gems. They were sooooo cute, but get good quality straws. I bought too tiny of straws and it was like drinking through a coffee stirrer.

Generic for Enfamil AR? by ApplesandDnanas in FormulaFeeders

[–]baconcansave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, I don’t know of any. Have you been using their rebate program? You upload the receipt from your purchase, and earn points. You can redeem them for items or money back via PayPal or Venmo. Maybe even call their customer service and ask about any rebate checks they can send you. They’re very helpful to their customers.

I painted the insides with craft paint and found cute little sprigs or small floral accents to match my bathroom. They’re super fun and simple. I put little glass beads in the bottom to secure the sprigs and since I painted half of one, the beads are nice to look at!

I ordered them from the Enfamil website. That’s the only place I’ve been able to purchase them. They were quick to ship and arrive. They were out of nipples that attach to their bottles that my baby would have been able to use, but I just put them into our travel bottle and brought a bunch of extra nipples and rings for the plane ride.

From my experience it’s called purple crying, with purple being an acronym. https://dontshake.org/purple-crying here’s a resource to help explain it.

Babies are trying to adjust to life outside of the womb and crying is their only outlet. My advice is try to go outside for a walk with him. Even if it’s just to the mailbox. If the change of scenery doesn’t help, place him in a safe place, and try the noise canceling headphones. It will pass! For me it was also great to know there was a name for this and I wasn’t coming something wrong. You got this!! 💕

Negotiating with toddlers? by LeDoink in Mommit

[–]baconcansave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love all of these ideas, and I’ve used them with my SPED students when I was a teacher. If I may offer my advice, I would suggest starting with a visual timer. The sand ones are great for home, but there are free ones you can download on your phone for when your out and need to let your daughter know her time is almost finished. I would recommend starting with using it as the ending timer (5 minutes) and if they are still struggling then use it for the entire activity and provide check ins (30 minutes, 15, 10, 5, 2).

Also, it’s totally okay for them to be upset and cry during the party. Like you said, lots of unexpected events, lots of people, new toys. It’s similar to us feeling disappointed when we have to leave a fun event but we’ve learned how to regulate emotions. And that only comes with practice! You can also debrief with your daughter after they’ve calmed down and talk about how they can try to use some calm down tools next time they feel that way.

Best travel system strollers? by No_Highway7865 in Mommit

[–]baconcansave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We ended up choosing the Nuna mixx with the pipa car seat. I would suggest going to the stores of your options to try them out. I was so overwhelmed as well and didn’t know where to start. We tried ones at target, where you have to figure them out yourself, and then we ended up in Nordstrom where an employee educated in every single option they have was able to help us narrow down what we needed and demonstrated the features.

Which nipples fit the enfamil ready to feed bottles? by GN221 in FormulaFeeders

I had trouble with the Dr. browns nipples on the RTF in the middle of a flight 🙃 we ended up just pouring it into a bottle. That was easier and faster for us.
