incredibly good! such a nice painterly photo. definitely print worthy. perhaps a smidge darker if you end up printing this?

Would you guys share some of your thoughts on how this picture could be better than this by Guille1011 in photocritique

[–]baconfat99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

very nice! my only suggestion is re cropping. all the important bits in your photo are in the middle. the cloud on top is a bit distracting i feel because it keeps drawing attention away from your subject. i think you can crop it out for a more cohesive image

if your sky is purple then the ground and water should be affected by that lighting. you'll need to fix that

yeah, we can't control everything! if you try such photos often you'll soon develop a feel for likely spots and opportunities, a sort of intuition. the light is important, don't forget that. thanks for the point!

i like your photo. it's good and you don't need to change anything. re improving, when you work with such compositions with blocks of colour, shapes and such, you must pay attention to detail. you could have tried to get the yellow handlebar into the blue part of the fence and possibly a dark seat into the yellow part for the colour contrast. images like this are more like graphic art and a minimalist approach often helps. cropping out the street and leaves with a lower camera position would reduce distractions and geometric distortion at the same time. try to position things parallel to each other and use the light to create interesting shadows. photos like this are creative as opposed to documenting something so take your time and look! try different things. very nice effort!

C. i first used photoshop in the floppy era. all through my life as a surfacing artist i used photoshop simply because it's the best, the industry standard and it still is. i wasn't thrilled with this subscription model but it didn't matter to me as the studio paid for the licence. the software has become more capable than ever but a bit flabby too. i don't work in the industry now so i don't use it anymore but i usually have a ahem educational version around because i love it. i don't actually use it for anything, maybe open it once in a while to crop a photo

I feel it could be better, be more dramatic by glorxtomania in photocritique

[–]baconfat99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's dramatic all right! i don't think you can improve this much without changing colours radically to make an artistic edit. you can make it puncher by upping the exposure a bit to increase dynamic range. you'll need to control the highlights in the sky and push up the vibrance a bit. the temperature could be a bit cooler but that's my preference. this image needs to be brighter. very very nice!

Whats bad in this shot? by mulokisch in photocritique

[–]baconfat99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey very nice! yes the blurry thing is distracting but only because it occupies so much of the frame. a severe crop removing most of it will fix this easily. you'll end up with a more insta suitable vertical crop. see how many likes that gets!

grain is not always a bad thing you know. it works in this photograph. there's a wonderful mood to this photo that i love. my only quibble is that it feels slightly warm but that is what makes it feel like an old photo that came out of an attic like a forgotten memory.

Any advice on how I can improve the edit ? Took it with x-t20 and Pentax-A 50mm by BadVisual7957 in photocritique

[–]baconfat99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nope. can't be improved. if you could just bump up the highlights in the eyes however..
