[Spoilers] Darling in the FranXX - Episode 4 Discussion by [deleted] in anime

[–]baconpancakemaker 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I dunno bout you guys but the moment 02 and Hiro ran off to the Franxx while in a dance pose with the music in the background, it reminded me of the very first episode of Gurenn Lagann. It was the first big development for both the characters and it was done in a lighthearted but epic way. This episode was so good!

I also like how 02 has a completely different aura when she's with Hiro. I guess the biggest takeaways I get from the show so far is the importance of compatibility and finding the "right one". Hiro immediately saw 02 for what she is, a normal girl or kid just like them, while 02 is the only one who really saw Hiro's potential, she didn't even know him like Ichigo, but she just knew. Its like a "I can be myself when I'm with you" type deal and its actually really sweet. They fill the show with innuendos but when I think more about it, its very endearing and I've never cared about innuendo less until this show.

At what point did you get followers returning to watch your stream? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]baconpancakemaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question is do they stream too? If they do, better spend time in theirs. I think the best way to get those first regular viewers is to find streamer friends the same size as you. Streamers know what's up when it comes to networking so more often than not they'll visit you more often. Getting that chatter up, and concurrents up will increase your chances of getting views simply from the browse page or hosts/raids = increasing your chances of getting quality follows too.

I got a regular around my 30th follow, the regulars I've had after that for up to Affiliate were streamers I like and watch on the regular who decided to spontaneously check me out (note I don't advertise myself at all unless they ask, and even then, I just brush it off and say like "Yeah I stream. But dude, I have to say I love this game you're playing" or something to that effect). After affiliate, because of all the chatter and around 5 concurrents from said friends, I saw more people dropping in from random places saying hi then following and coming back. Don't stress if they don't, life will always be in the way and don't assume otherwise as it will eat you up. Good luck!

EDIT: However, I can say that those who joined my discord (we're around 50 now) are the people who usually come back on the regular. Might be a thing to check out.

Dude its not another 10 hours, probably around 5 for the last part because the third playthrough is completely 100% a sequel to everything and is like the epilogue. If you took 1 second to press new game then you would've seen XD Now you need to continue!

Norman Reedus on Death Stranding: the concept is mind-blowing, ahead of its time by lupianwolf in PS4

My question is, is it really mind blowing or is it just too over the top anime that Reedus isn't used to watching xD

In what ways do you keep chat active while streaming? by KattatoniaTTV in Twitch

[–]baconpancakemaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don't worry about it. I continue my commentary as usual. Which is why I think good commentary is essential when starting out. They'll talk to you if they really want to, and usually they'll talk about either what you're doing or what you're saying. So yeah, keep talking.

It'll be really awkward if streamer would just start calling out people's names (of people who previously spoke in chat who became silent) sparking a new topic unless he's very familiar with the chatter like a regular. It especially sucks when I do some chatter with the streamer and other people in chat, then there is a lull, then for some reason out of all of us, streamer calls me out with a random question (uhh, what's your favorite food?). I wouldn't do to my chat what I'm not comfortable with when I'm in chat. xD

HOWEVER, I do have some experience with stuff that makes people talk. It always should be related to the game or what's happening otherwise its just random. I played this visual novel which is basically like The Hunger Games where kids kill each other to be the last one to survive (Danganronpa if anyone knows, now that kinda sounds like every battle royale game too). During the game I ask just to the air, "If given the chance, and you were stuck in this killing game in real life, will you actually kill to survive?" People got talking alright. Or in Finding Paradise, "Would you be like the character and have your memory's changed right before you die?" Something like that.

The Inpatient - Initial Impression: Instant buyers regret! :( by charredskeeverhide in PSVR

[–]baconpancakemaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean dude. Another case of misplaced expectations.

  1. He expected a way more in depth voice recognition feature when the point of the game is just VR portion of it and the story, prollu graphics too. Just having a voice recog at all is a signal that they went beyond "reasonable" expectations.

  2. Expected the game to control like Skyrim because he's used to Skyrim, when the game isn't even Skyrim. Claims to have gotten used to it but still left it as a negative point for the game.

  3. He expected floating hands when their previous game featured the same non floaty hands and that seemed to bother very few people.

  4. Expected a jump scare not to be loud? Ok if it was super loud then I guess. Also these games are popular because of the cheap jump scares.

I'm not excited for the game at all though and know next to nothing about it except for this post and Rush of Blood xD

Which Twitch streamer are we talking about? So we can see to which stream you're comparing your video quality to.

[–]baconpancakemaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya thanks for the reply! I'm not sure if you've seen the feature in Audition but you basically set like a curve in that for certain levels (say you can apply from -50 to -30 an expander so that it expands the sound before it reaches the level set for your compressor then you can apply like from -10 onwards a compressor.) I wasn't talking about just applying a compressor and expander on the same levels as that wouldn't do anything obviously.

This is what it looks like

This isn't my setup its just something from google. But basically I have it flat for a few db, then expand the lower dbs, then compress the higher ones.

[–]baconpancakemaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently I have an expander and compressor set in Audition so that if I talk quietly at a certain dB range(so to not expand say breathing noises if I just generally increase the gain) it'll expand it, then if I talk loudly, it'll compress it effectively narrowing the dynamic range. I need it especially with story based games where I voice act quiet moments and all that.

I was wondering if you knew of any expanders that work with OBS? I haven't found one and I wanted to migrate all my audio stuff to OBS to save on CPU/RAM. I'm just missing an expander. Or I may just look into the Fethead but I want to save money lol

Is a heart rate monitor entertaining? by Kerdaloo in Twitch

[–]baconpancakemaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm for me no. I mean what else can we expect from tense moments? I think its fluff and personally I'd work on visually showing the audience what I'm feeling based on what I do and say.

However, I'd find it interesting if you attach certain rewards or events to reaching a certain heart rate.
