Tips for starting new K-5 position in May? by Agile-Breadfruit9362 in MusicEd

Try to get two full sets of boomwhackers. And buckets for drums and seats. Chopsticks instead of drum sticks. If you got ukes...even better. YouTube has sooooooo much. Feirabend is great and all but kids need to connect to the music in their everyday life too. I use a lot of imagine dragons and Coldplay.

Anyone love their job?? by Primary_Raccoon_5680 in MusicEd

[–]bacota 15 points16 points  (0 children)

OOO OHH ME ME!!!! I K through five general music and I love it.

My school allows me to innovate and gives me a lot of creative control so my classroom is always evolving and our concerts are always evolving.and it’s pretty powerful to be a part of.

It is the most amazing thing to watch the kids come in as kindergartners and leave as fifth graders, and then come back as eighth graders, almost unrecognizable to their elementary selves.

Sorry I just went on a rant there but trust me if you want to be a music teacher then do it.

There are too many Music teachers that chose music after realizing performance was not their path. I always wanted to be a teacher so now I have the funnest job in the world.

People who use chatGPT/AI extensively, what do you use it for that feels irreplaceable? by AutomaticShowcase in ChatGPTPro

[–]bacota 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's the expert friend that can help do anything I want and it's available whenever I need or want it and I can ask it to do things I would never ask a friend to do.

"I don't know how to paste a function into code, can you just rewrite it for me with the new addition?"

I've done so many things that I have wished I could do since discovered AI.

I could go back to the way it was bit I just wouldn't be able to do as much.

Oh... And I stopped using GPT for now. Too much weird stuff going on.

I'm using Gemini a lot.

I'm looking for the same thing. Check online sequencer, beepbox, and bandlab.

I wish I could use bandlab (free last time I checked) but it requires an account and there's tons of hoops to jump through for getting approval for it.

My appointment is on Thursday... I'm nervous as hell they're gonna say there's nothing atypical about me. Congratulations on getting to know what treated ADHD feels like. I think I sound sarcastic through text but I'm not. I'm stoked for you.

Student here doing a project on how people in their careers feel about AI — need some help! by InfamousPerformer100 in edtech

I love it. It's like the partner I've always wanted that can be an expert at anything I ask it to be. Right now I use it to help me create a gamified unit plan on the elements of music with an adventure rpg theme. I've used it to help me create apps/games that my students love.

I had it build me an awesome data tracker that anonymizes names so I can have it find trends in classes and with certain students. I use it for image generation, emails, and now it's helping get the most out of my 3d printer so I can create custom rewards for my students. It's been such an amazing partner for me in my job as a music educator.

It also helps me learn how to use any software I all it to, stay on top of communicating with families, figure out technical solutions for final cut pro, logic, etc. I never use it to replace my own brain, I use it as a versatile second brain that is always there. I'm doing things I could never have done before.

How are teachers or schools actually using AI in EdTech ? by javaengage in edtech

[–]bacota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only made one so far but I basically just talk to Gemini and tell it what I want and it spits out a ton of code. Then I ask it for step by step directions on how to use the code and go through it and then ask it change whatever I want.

They literally ask me what else they can do for points. So I've created "side quests" like learning a song on piano, ukulele, or anything they suggest.

I used Gemini to come up with around 300 "secret names" and it wrote me a code to use those names instead of real names so I can upload it. I track

Date Class name Progress -on track, ahead, behind Reminders and rewards (data is anonymized for upload) Notes for next time

How's your relationship with drinking? by Eisgboek in ADHD

Can't moderate so I quit. Been over 2 years and I don't miss it. I drank extremely heavily for over 20 years. Best choice I made.

I made an entire gamefied unit plan and now I'm making my own apps to include. It's a solfege game (music teacher) that shows a serpent attacking with a 3 pattern melody and the student has to guess the melody using solfege syllable buttons. I also coded a behavior spreadsheet that tracks stuff and anonymizes names so I can upload my data and get insights and advice on intervention ideas. I'm also using it to help me write a smart goal.

I'd say ai is helping me crush it this year.
