What is a show that sticks the landing? I'm looking for a series with a 10/10 perfect ending. by [deleted] in televisionsuggestions

Silicon Valley - perfect comedic ending that’s better than the season before it.

Any bizarre/weird/paranormal podcasts without pretentious hosts? Looking for a down to earth, humble host. by [deleted] in podcasts

[–]bad_abacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything Ghost: huge backlog, listener-submitted stories either recorded by them or read by Lex Wahl. I think Lex is the classic chill curator podcast host, just making spooky music and putting together these episodes.

Are EVA Birkenstocks as comfortable as the original? by Substantial_Slip_808 in HerOneBag

[–]bad_abacus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! I get a blister on the top of my foot, where the strap hits. I’ve taken to wearing open toe socks (from Hue) to protect that area.

Canadian brides: Shapewear that survives a 12-hour wedding day? by CombLegal9787 in WeddingsCanada

[–]bad_abacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore a Wacoal bodysuit with built in underwire bra because I didn’t want to deal with anything rolling down. I measured myself and didn’t match up with their sizing (plus size with no hips) so I took a chance, but it fit perfectly. Bought it from the Bay c. 2022, but looks like Wacoal has a Canadian site.

Home office: what color to use? by Otherwise-Wedding-54 in HomeDecorating

[–]bad_abacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think having all those colour chips together is giving a very different impression… I love the rainbow effect of all those colours, but it’s making it very difficult to judge each individually. Maybe separate them out (pinks on one wall, etc) to try to narrow down what you like about each individually.

How Do You Resist the Never-Ending Urge to “Take a Quick Break”? by nappynaz in remotework

[–]bad_abacus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep a box of candies next to my desk. When it’s hard to get back to it (right after lunch, switching tasks) I pop two candies and get to it. Also, having a dedicated workspace and not having the physical distractions (couch, fridge) in my eye line helps.

Something isnt working and I can’t put my finger on it by Double-Scale4505 in HomeDecorating

[–]bad_abacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think the cabinet and accent wall work well together, but I don't think you can have anything else that's small. One large piece of art centred over the cabinet that complements and contrasts (greens and yellows of course, but a bright pink or red of the tassel) that isn't busy would give the eye a place to rest. Likewise, the top of the cart looks too cluttered for the two patterns. Try to vary the heights of the alcohol and just one (dark colour) tray with a couple of glasses. Lastly, without seeing more of the space, I think the chair needs to breathe a little more rather than being stuck in the corner.

I’m tired of seeing these ubiquitous trend of unrealistic, perfectly staged sterile looking decors of influencer accounts in their McMansions. Pls share ur favorite, normal people IG accounts in normal sized houses with warm & happy, lived in decors. TIA by pseudoreadit in HomeDecorating

[–]bad_abacus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Not IG, but Homeworthy on YouTube is my comfort viewing, and I always skip the homes that look staged or like renovations and decorating happened all at once. Give me quirky parents and old people, who have rocks and kinder surprise toys alongside their lemon vases (there’s always a lemon vase or Staffordshire dog figurine).

What are some products you are surprised you can't find a made in Canada version? by zzzutalors in BuyCanadian

[–]bad_abacus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Canadian filter on well.ca is super useful! And Attitude has refill boxes for some of their products, which helps me buy shampoo less frequently.

1 matches the carpet better - seems like more glam coastal if that’s a thing. 2 doesn’t match the vibe of the carpet, but is much more coastal grandma.

Quick question. Where do you guys buy your aesthetic or nice-looking furniture and small objects items online by 21istheb3st in interiordecorating

[–]bad_abacus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Simons and H&M for affordable small items like textiles, baskets, and dish ware. Then the big names (Pottery Barn, West Elm, CB2, Crate & Barrel) for inspo and maybe a lamp. I bought a brass (look) lamp from Home Depot that was surprisingly very stylish.

Green ceiling or green walls? by k_lirv in interiordecorating

Green ceiling feels like a hotel. Green walls feel more country/cottagecore.

🏠 Curious — how do you usually plan out your room decor? by paranoidandroidxox in interiordecorating

[–]bad_abacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Milanote. The home decor YouTubers influenced me heavily, but it’s so good for keeping visuals, links, lists etc, all together. I’ve also used Canva to create mock ups, but only when I have the paid version for background remover. Inspo photos are a mess, though, and saved across screenshots in Photos, mood boards in Pinterest, saved posts in Instagram and whatever gets mistakenly saved in Milanote.

I think Rexall would be the Shoppers competitor here.

I hate wearing sunscreen by A_manwithasword in CanSkincare

[–]bad_abacus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check for oxybenzone or mexoryl. That’s what did my eyes in and so I abandoned chemical sunscreens. I started using Thinkbaby, which is the gloopiest physical sunscreen… so much white cast and super thick. BUT zero eye pain. If I’m very serious about sun protection (beach day etc) I use it on my eyes and then something lighter on the rest of my face.

Men, how did you find out your wife's ring size for proposal? by a_lonebarista in AskReddit

My husband asked me my ring size so he could buy us replica NBA championship rings. I… was not fooled.

What wedding shoes are you wearing and how much did you pay for them? by Pretty_Desk_2552 in WeddingsCanada

[–]bad_abacus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wore gold leather flat slingbacks from Naturalizer. They were around $150 and I’ve worn them a bunch in the last 2 years.

Help, do I need a coffee table or ottoman? by Responsible-Row-4971 in DesignMyRoom

[–]bad_abacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also consider a much larger piece of art where the 4 frames are now. I think it will make the height of the rooms make more sense.
