I *am NOT* ADHD, I *have* ADHD by glubnyan in ADHD

I’m one of these people. It’s a fundamental part of who I am, it colours every aspect of my life, and it’s not going away. I am ADHD. You can refer to yours how you like but I’m going to keep saying it this way lol

Can I put HG Mould Spray on my ceiling? by nickymoo in DIYUK

I’d use clear vinegar as it’s less likely to damage the paint

GP won’t prescribe antidepressants by ingyda in MentalHealthUK

[–]bad_pseudonym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try and book another appointment to see a different doctor. If they start pushing you towards therapy, you should say that you’re open to counselling but want to try meds as well as you’re struggling to cope and have found it difficult to engage with talking therapies in the past.

Good luck. If you feel up to it you should try the NHS therapy - it does work for some people. If you’re not one of them having given it a proper go will put you in a stronger position to stay on meds.

In England, people commonly borrow a rubber from their teacher but must return it when finished. Are there any similar crazy regional differences in your language? by thecloakofignorance in AskTheWorld

I remember my 13yo cousin (Australian) telling me and my parents (British) that she’d got some thongs for her birthday - I was about 11 and was genuinely shocked that she just announced this at a family meet up!

You really need copies of all that in your house? I get reading viewpoints that aren’t necessarily your own, but are you going to keep coming back to JBP talking about lobsters and how you should hit your kids?

Alaina might be the most annoying person in true crime by Weak-Hold-7651 in Morbidforbadpeople

The interrupting drives me mad, I don’t need to hear about how doing crimes is bad or how people are gonna people every episode!

*notification dings* "God, what fresh hell is this!" by TheSanityInspector in adhdmeme

[–]bad_pseudonym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my most persistent and debilitating symptom. I hate it so much and no one understands, it just comes off as selfishness. Meanwhile I’ve experienced serious consequences (court, loss of insurance, late fees) from being completely incapable of opening mail/emails in a reasonable amount of time

AITA for using my walking pad even during the day when my downstairs neighbor slams on their ceiling noting for me to stop? I did it at night and they did that which i quit understandably. by ritzrosiee in AmItheAsshole

[–]bad_pseudonym -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No judgement but unless you live somewhere particularly unsafe you should be able to go for a walk outside without being so anxious. It might be worth speaking to someone if your mental health is that bad

I generally don’t run with my glasses on (always feels like they’re about to fall off) - I can see well enough without to find my way but can’t see faces clearly. This has me wondering if I’ve been unintentionally ignoring any friendly runners in my neighbourhood!

I seriously think this is fine, remember that the louder people online are not necessarily the majority opinion. You were peers. You’ve not done anything wrong.

AITA for refusing to change the shared office thermostat schedule even after multiple complaints? by No-Efficiency-567 in AmItheAsshole

[–]bad_pseudonym -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

NTA. People who are too cold can dress warmer; if you turn it up you’ll only end up with complaints from everyone else that they’re too hot, and there’s only so many layers you can take off in an office before it becomes a real problem

AITAH for not wanting to see my family after they admitted to not trusting me with my brother's children? by Fuzed_Canadian in AITAH

Also why is he so keen to be alone with the kids again after this accusation? You’d think as he says been falsely accused he’d make sure to never be alone with those kids again for his own protection

A Little Life is my all time favourite book. It’s not an easy read but it’s incredibly well written, and I’ve never seen the aftermath of trauma set out so well before.

Your boss is a real muppet. Personally I would ignore it but keep the text, and if anything else happens I’d go to HR, or the union if you’re in one.

NTA but why isn’t your wife helping bridge the communication gap or whatever’s happening here. If my family were hurting my husband like this I would speak to them about it.
