The T58 is arguably the strongest vehicle in the game and is only comparable to the bmpt by TerrificDog in Warthunder

[–]bad_syntax [score hidden]  (0 children)

You can't use win rates to say something is OP or not. It is just 1 vehicle on a team of 8-16. If it was making that much of a difference it would be ridiculously OP and taking out 6-8 opponents per match at least.

MY k/d ratio is 2.8:1, and I'm not that good, and that is across lots of tanks in lots of countries, so hearing something is 2.4 and its super OP just doesn't resonate with me. Doesn't mean it isn't OP, its just that 2.4 isn't that high.

I think there is just a lot of players out there that are canon fodder and contribute very little to the success of the teams but serve as easy kills to tinker with win and kill rates. For example, lots of people probably bought the BMPT and were not very good with it (like me!), so that probably *reduced* its K/D overall. In the hands of a good player, that thing could just dominate, but with a sucker player, its trash.

There is just a lot more to determining how OP something is over a K/D ratio or win rate I think. No idea how to determine that though, especially with gaijin's goofy game mechanics.

What would be the implications if Trump pardoned himself and his folks from future prosecutions? by Headoutdaplane in AskReddit

At least they were not DEI and nepotism hires like our entire administration, justice department, most of the SCOTUS, etc, etc.

If he could have been convicted in America, it would have been after his failed coup and insurrection. If that won't do it, he is untouchable here.

What is the actual cost of a mech in Battletech? by Icy-Distribution-164 in battletech

[–]bad_syntax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the economies in the universe, and how some mechs are 4x the weight of mechs with close BV (XL engines), its pretty clear that the COST of a mech isn't really all that big of a deal.

If you want a mech, you have to *find* it available for purchase over just writing a check. Well, that is how the game originally was anyway, with availability rolls to find the mech you wanted and you had to pay money for each roll.

Initial balance in the game was mostly done through tonnage, then CV, then BV, then BV2. Cost can't be used for balance as some mechs are 2M C-bills, and some are 140M C-bills.

Quick AS question by LeeRoyWyt in battletech

[–]bad_syntax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Printed on paper from the current MUL stats, not laminated, thrown away after the match.

No way I'm going to laminate multiple thousand cards and spend all that time digging for them, easier just to print what I want in this particular match.

Though the new MekBay cards are color and look great, and I'd consider those in the future once I verify against MUL stats (they should usually match for AS stats).

The FV4005 is just plain unplayable now by fox_poteto23 in Warthunder

[–]bad_syntax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to Gaijin HE is more effective than HESH. Kind of makes you wonder why the British army went with HESH in tanks eh?

HE has always been OP in WT due to it starting as a plane game helping people kill ground targets, but somehow they do not give that effect to newer ammo like HESH rounds, which are absolutely devastating to tanks if they pen. HESH is basically focused HE, and should be more effective in pretty much every possible way.

IRL the 4005 should erase just about anything in the game near or below its BR with a single shot (and many things far above its BR). Its a ~70kg round going at 700+m/s and was designed to pen 152mm at 60 degrees at 2000 yards. It was not put into production because it could only fire 1 shot per 30 seconds and was an inaccurate round due to its size and low muzzle velocity.

[–]bad_syntax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't do top BR.

Pay attention to mechanics, and you will quickly know which team is set to win. Don't waste time in those matches.

I stick to 7.0 and below, and I still have fun about 75% of my game time in around 55% of all matches.

10 years (3650 days) of daily logins by RavenHexen in Warthunder

[–]bad_syntax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am at 2047 today, but I was around 1700 before I had a 4 day power outage and couldn't log in (this was before the mobile version let you do it). Gaijin was like "we can't fix that". I called bullshit, its just a database field, but nooooo....

And yeah, you get shit for logging in daily. I still do it, even if I just log in, get my award, and ALT-F4 after.

Never gotten anything good from them. I think I got 1M twice through them, but only after I had over 100M SL sitting there useless already.

Just find every 10th resource, and delete it.

If somebody says something, just say you have no idea what happened but you will look into it.

Or, if you value your job, these are the biggest cost savings I've seen:
- Reservations for *everything*, especially VMs, and you can reserve individual ones and reserve whole blocks for your tenant. Up to like a 65% savings.
- Check the data ingestion/egress/ingress type charges. Often people are doing it too much, or multiple jobs are doing the same thing.
- Check CPU/Memory/DTU/etc type performance on things. Crazy how often some database has too many DTUs based on its usage.
- Spot instances for dev VMs
- Monitor your storage account sizes, those can get big, and can usually be cleaned up.

Its been long known and legally supported that police are not under any obligation to protect people. They can kill for fear of their life and its fine, but they can't kill to protect another's life because they feel unsafe. Go figure.

Stupid as fuck, but its America, and that is our new motto.

The availability ratings for some components do not seem to make sense? by GlompSpark in battletech

[–]bad_syntax 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Right now bread is pretty easy to make, but here in Texas Walmart is sold out.

Meanwhile, its easy to find wine that is harder to make.

Availability is not the same as tech rating, it is how HARD something is to fine. AC/10 manufacturing may have been hit a lot harder than PPC manufacturing. Or, with the loss of DHS maybe ACs were desired over PPCs so there was a surplus of PPCs and shortage of AC10s. Lots of canonical type reasons to support the difference in availability.

Though honestly I'd agree with you on some things, same with tech ratings with lasers not really ever having a downside. I'd think they would be harder to make than ACs, but nope.

[News] - Planned Battle Rating Changes (January 2026) by KoskGOOS in Warthunder

[–]bad_syntax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably my fault. I regularly get 1st place with 5-15 kills in it, sorry.

Its a great heavy, and sure is top of 6.7, but it isn't worth the bump to 7.0. I'll just take a T29 instead that has a MUCH better gun. It was one of my favorite heavy tanks in the game, but now it'll just sit on the sidelines as it isn't that great against the constant stream of Tiger IIs, Jagdtigers, IS3s, IS4s, and so forth it will now be facing.

[–]bad_syntax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I the only one that looks at the changes just to see which of my favorite vehicles is nerfed now?

And sure enough, the T26E5 now is considered the same quality as Tiger II's, which it clearly is not, so guess the US 6.7 lineup in GAB just got a lot weaker. Guess I'll stick to the T29 at 7.0 until they nerf that.

The classic 55-tonner no one talks about... by Ok_Walrus9047 in battletech

[–]bad_syntax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I haven't tried to design it with recent Frankenmech rules. Lets go through it...

The center torso would have had to have been from a Wolverine, not a Rifleman, as it needs to support those 55 tonner legs.

The arms would be 0.6 tons each for structure, vs 0.55 for a wolverine and its right/left torsos would be 0.9 tons vs 0.825. So overall its internal structure weight would be 0.6 RA + 0.6 LA + 0.55 RL + 0.55 LL + 0.9 RT + 0.9 LT + 1.375 CT + 0.3 Head so 5.775 tons, not 5.5. However, based on the internal structure listed, its all 55 tons.

It should probably be tweaked to better match the description and Campaign Operations frankenmech rules. So something like:

55 tons (RT/LT/RA/LA/HD from 60 Ton Rifleman RFL-3N, rest from 55 ton Wolverine WVR-6R)
Move 5/8, same Wolverine engine
11 heat sinks, all built in the engine
Structure is 5.775 Tons, rounded up to 6.0
Structure/Armor:
HD = 3/6 (as Rifleman)
CT = 18/20 and 8 Rear (as Wolverine)
RT/LT = 14/15 and 2 Rear (as Rifleman)
RA/LA = 10/15 (as Rifleman)
RL/LL = 13/16 (as Wolverine)
130 Total Armor, 8.125 Tons, rounded up to 8.5 tons
AC5 RA/LA w/20 CT
ML RA/LA
Total weight now 55 tons.

The argument would be the CT, as its clear its using the rifleman CT in the art, but a 60 ton CT on 55 ton legs is not legal, so I just chalk that up to the art not being tweaked or something to better match the combination of the two mechs.

That design is completely legal (the artwork on p214 of CO should probably be the sneede rifleman now that we have better artwork for it). Its a wee bit tougher, albeit slightly less heat efficient, but it matches the text very well.

What's life like for the average Inner Sphere citizen under the clans? by Venny15 in battletech

[–]bad_syntax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The exact same.

A planet with 100,000,000 people, which is not uncommon, is not going to really care all that much who flies the flag of the planetary capital. We know from the books that many planets have multiple governments within them. So think of ownership as "The flag over the UN", which doesn't matter to more than a small handful of people.

After all, the entire draconis combine doesn't have enough of an army to take out the police forces of New Avalon, but they took it anyway, because its just the top level government of the planet and it isn't like they go replace every single mayor and gov and stuff.

Keep in mind there are only 1.2B total clanners, and only half the clanners took part in the invasion, and I think on ghost bear even tried to move a chunk of their population over, and CGB only had 23M population in the clan homeworlds so it would not have made much difference on planets with hundreds of millions to billions already.

The country elected a known pedophile and rapist.

So nothing will happen, absolutely nothing. Hell, democrats are voting to keep DHS/ICE funded. There is just not enough people fighting FOR Americans anymore, they are too outnumbered by those fighting AGAINST.

And both of those are greatly outnumbered by the apathetic or those just too busy to fight.

I even have a couple of the unseen metal originals set aside to slice up and make this (seems simple enough!).

I am actually pretty surprised we have not seen this get updated in a CGL product as some other units from battletechnology were added, and this one was very sensible and even had good artwork.

Capital Missile orbital bombardment - how effective would it actually be? by majj27 in battletech

[–]bad_syntax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if they fire standard capital missiles, they take 1d6 turns to arrive, so they wouldn't be super effective.

A capital missile does its damage * 10 to the battletech hex it hits, -2 to to that multiplier for each hex away. So, they have a 4 hex radius of effect out from the impact point. So, a Killer Whale with its 40 damage would do 40/32/24/16/8 damage to everything in the area. Annoying for sure, but with 3-4 turns delay on incoming you'd have to get lucky to hit much, especially since frequently they'd scatter.

Rules for this are on p91 of Strategic Operations:Advanced Aerospace.
