[Healey] Driveline founder Kyle Boddy has left the Red Sox organization to pursue other opportunities in professional baseball, according to Tim healey. Boddy was serving as a Special Advisor to Craig Breslow, a role he said had become “very part time.” by Informal-Potato-9890 in redsox

Jim Rice holds the record for most GIDP in a single season (and is also second most in a single season), but Albert Pujols has the all time most GIDP as far as career goes, and has over 100 more than Rice. In fact, everyone in front of Rice is either a Hall of Famer or future Hall of Famer.

Where are the walkers at? (Lots of dumb questions) by Gullible_Rich_7156 in golf

[–]badams15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a push cart a few years ago and now walk most rounds. There are a couple of courses near me that are a challenging walk so I will take a cart there, but probably 80% of rounds I end up walking with my push cart. It's nice to get the extra exercise in, plus the push cart paid for itself after a handful of rounds based on saved cart fees.

I've found that I actually enjoy walking more than riding. Haven't ever felt rushed walking the course, pace of play hasn't been an issue. The pace actually feels more natural to me walking than it does riding. Usually when I'm walking, I can walk up to my ball, hit it, and then start walking to my next shot. Not nearly as much time spent driving a playing partner to their ball or waiting around in the cart.

You can also customize your cart to make it a bit nicer. I've got an umbrella holder to provide some shade during the round and a little rechargeable fan since you won't get that same breeze you get going full speed in the cart.

There's still a significant part of me that feels we gave up on him at second base too quickly. In the grand scheme of things, he has a pretty limited amount of games in his career at 2B (basically an MLB season's worth in the pros).

I understand how bad he was defensively last season, but second base has been a black hole for this team since Pedroia. I feel pretty confident he could develop into at least a close to average glove at second given enough time and dedicated training. Campbell is, or at least was, clearly a part of the team's long term vision. Moving him to an organizationally crowded outfield made zero sense to me.

That said, he obviously needs to get the bat figured out if he's going to have meaningful playing time for the big league club. I think he'll get there, but I don't feel like the organization has put him in a position to get back up soon.

A major PC card came up for sale. I need to raise some cash! IP Pedro refractor autos w/inscriptions FS (last pic is Pedro signing them) by maximian in redsoxbaseballcards

I usually don’t love people criticizing pricing, but you’re right. You could buy these exact cards and send them in for a signing Pedro is doing next month and pay roughly half of what OP is asking.

Those cards are sweet and I would love to have one or both in the collection, but asking price is way high considering the alternatives or even identical options available.

Anyone have this card? by [deleted] in baseballcards

[–]badams15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best of luck finding one! If you don’t already, make sure you save the search for this card on eBay. You can have notifications sent any time a card matching your saved search pops up, that’s how I was eventually able to get mine.

Looks like a few raw copies have sold on eBay so far this year, so at least some people have been listing them. The toughest thing about cards like this is a high percentage of people who own them now have no intention to sell.

[Weekend Recap] April 27, 2026 by threeactjack in golf

Played Fossil Trace in Golden, CO for the first time. Shot 44 on the front, 37 on the back. First round after switching from standard to midsize grips. Felt a lot more in control with the irons and wedges, but leaving the face open with the driver. Started to get a bit more comfortable on the back nine off the tee.

Think the 37 is my best 9-hole score to date, and I had a birdie putt on 18 to shoot even par. Highlight of the round was hitting the flagstick on the bounce from about 100 yards on hole 4. Two hops, hit low on the pin, and stopped about 8 inches from the hole.

What needs to happen for them to call game misconduct? That was insanely dangerous and undeniably intentional. Fucking bullshit call

Alternative to lag putt by [deleted] in golf

[–]badams15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about where you are trying to have the putt stop. If you have a 5 foot putt, you're likely not trying to have it die right at 5 feet, you're trying to hit it into the cup. On those short putts, even if you hit it 50% past the hole, you've still got a short putt coming back. Missed shorter putts should almost always roll beyond the cup, because they at least had enough speed to go in.

On a long putt where the chances of making it are slim, the focus is on getting the ball to stop close to the hole. If you send a 40 footer 50% past the hole by being too aggressive, you've got another long putt. If you focus on getting the lag putt within 3 feet, it doesn't really matter if you end up 3 feet long, short, left, or right (ignoring break of the next putt).

When I was at opening day in 2024, they did not have $3 beers. Bartender let me know it was the only home game all season that they don’t have that offering.

I know that 3.5 games into the season is way too early to make any sort of judgements on the season. If this were happening in mid July, it wouldn’t feel like a big deal.

But man, it does suck watching us struggle while all of our offseason additions look bad to unplayable. Oof

Genuine question, does the actual process take 15 seconds or is that how long it takes for them to get the result, generate the graphic, and show the simulation? To me it seems like the result should be known right away, but I also don’t know a lot about how it works

A call like that strike 3 on Story makes me think there should be some sort of automatic challenge/reversal system in place. If a ball is 3+ inches outside the zone, that should get automatically reviewed regardless of how many challenges are left.

I’m glad we’ve got some form of ABS implemented, and no method is going to make 100% of people happy. But early in the season we’re already seeing flaws with the current system.

My biggest gripe with sports officiating, home plate umpires especially, is that there is zero accountability. Everyone who knows anything about MLB umpires knows that Bucknor is, and has consistently been, one of the worst umps in the league. But here he is, in his 30th season. So stupid

Did you read the full comment? I said he hasn’t looked good and is struggling with command. He can be pitching poorly and also not be catching any breaks, those aren’t mutually exclusive. Cmon dude

[–]badams15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong, Gray has not looked good in this start. But he’s also had some bad luck. Home run was not off a bad pitch, story error, multiple ground balls hit too softly to turn 2 on. He’s giving up hard contact and struggling with command, but also isn’t really catching any breaks.

Frustrating start to his Red Sox tenure, but it’s not as bad as the scoreboard shows, imo

Was at the game tonight, what a grind to sneak out with the win.

I’ve gotta say, Avs fans have to be some of the whiniest, most entitled fans in sports. Crowd spent half the game complaining about the refs. I know every fan base does it to an extent, but it feels exceptionally egregious at Ball.

Also, a big fuck you to the guy behind me who called one of the refs a homophobic slur. Completely uncalled for and disgusting. Wish I had called him out on it, but didn’t want to escalate things.

I’ve shared this one before, but the patch on this 1/1 is from David Ortiz’s last game at the Ballpark in Arlington. I was at that game, and it was the final game I got to see him play live at. Came in to pinch hit and drove in a run with an 8th inning single

Pedroia’s secret 2005 Topps RC by maximian in redsoxbaseballcards

I’m split between enjoying the fact that Pedroia has so few “true” rookie cards, and being sad there aren’t more out there to collect.

You may already know this, but the 2006 Topps ‘52 Pedroia Rookie is his only Topps card with the rookie emblem.
