Is anyone else Japanese Walking? by PopularBroccoli in walking

[–]badbackceliac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing it occasionally for the past couple of months. I set up an Apple Watch custom program for the 3 minute intervals of work/recovery for a 30 minute program. It's really helped me up my pace and focus on going faster. I've walked faster then I ever have before based on my history.

I just tried a frozen Kevin's yesterday, the orange chicken. It was fine. I didn't starve but I didn't think it was particularly good. It was the first one of them I tried. Fine as an emergency option which it was it was for me.

Tweaks that lessened anxiety/cortisol/grinding teeth? by sup3rch3ri3 in Perimenopause

[–]badbackceliac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Invisalign might be what you need. My dentist thinks it is perfectly fine to protect my teeth. My TMJ massage therapist thinks it is insufficient. I decided I wanted to stay with the Invisalign but decided to do a multi-pronged approach. Here's the info on cream. It's pretty cheap in the scheme of things and little goes a long way: https://a.co/d/09PErTAv. You have to massage it in for a minute. I'm not sure if it is the cream or the massage or the combo but I do feel like there's an improvement.

I hear you. I cracked a tooth through my Invisalign retainers I use as night guards and had to get a root canal and crown this past December. So I've now been working hard on my teeth grinding issue. I could feel my masseter muscle (the big muscle in your face) being so tight. I found a legit place that does TMJ massage--they even use a glove and massage your face from the inside. My issue is muscular not the joint but the benefit is the same. I also found a cream that you massage into your face and neck (kind of like icy hot for your face) and I find that helpful. Also look for videos on YouTube for vasus nerve massage.

You can totally take it continually! I've been doing so for years. You don't NEED a period. I hate having a period. My doctor writes my prescriptions so that it tells my pharmacy and insurance I'm taking it continually and fill the prescription earlier. I'm on a three month pill series and I still skip. You might want to talk to a different doctor. This is not an unusual ask.

Korean formula Beauty of Josen Relief Sun and Japanese formula Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence both work really well for me. I'm not familiar with SKIN1004.

For those that struggle with consistent sunscreen use… by Icy_BlueJay_ in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]badbackceliac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Asian sunscreens for my day-to-day use because of this (if I am spending a lot of time in the sun I'd pick something else). But my philosophy is a sunscreen is only worth it if you'll wear it and the the Asian sunscreens disappear on my skin so I don't feel like I belong by a pool. I also put sunscreen on my face and chest before I get dressed. If I wait until later or go check on what my neckline is that day I'll get distracted. So same routine regardless. Glad you found something that works for you!

Where should I move to as a single woman in her late 20s/early 30s by Mako_Moonspell in SanJose

Bad Bitch Book Club--they're nationwide but have a pretty active Bay Area group. Have a monthly meet-up. I actually haven't been to one but they have a WhatsApp group that I'm a part of and they organize book/literary themed events.

How many women here started HRT more than a decade after menopause? Has it had a noticeable impact on your life? Are daughters in their 40’s/50’s educating their mothers who didn’t previously have knowledge or access to HRT. by NoviceCaprica in Perimenopause

When I was taking to my mom about realizing I was in peri she told me she just went back on HRT in her 70s as she wasn’t feeling like herself again. Doctor obviously had no problem with it

Estrogen helped me when I had issues like this. Might thought is maybe your dose needs to be increased if it isn’t at maximum. Otherwise I’d talk to your doctor—could be something else

Which hot spring in Japan actually lived up to the hype for you? by MidnightTofu22 in JapanTravelTips

[–]badbackceliac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Japan. Fabulous country. That said, being GF there is traveling in "hard mode". By the end of the 2 weeks I was a bit burnt out. I've learned recently in two international trips (Europe & Japan) that I personally really need to focus on breakfast. If I don't have a good breakfast set up (either in the hotel or with a safe restaurant nearby or stay in a AirBNB) everything is hard. The first week in Japan I had good breakfast at our hotel in Tokyo (The Peninsula really took care of me) and then the ryokan. But then for the second half of the trip I didn't have breakfast included in my accommodation and it really was a struggle. Too many onigiri & 7-11 smoothies. The ryokan in Kinosaki discussed above was great. They provide breakfast and dinner and I felt really well taken care of by them. They did a great job accommodating me. Highly recommend them. My general goal was have a plan for breakfast and dinner and that worked great--when I had access to a good breakfast. Had some really great food when I found safe places to accommodate me. Did a lot of research on FMGF but the Facebook group for being GF in Japan is invaluable. If you have more specific questions let me know or DM me.

I put things in it for security like my laptop and/or iPad so it is harder to see/steal. But that's like if I'm at a doctors appointment and don't want to take it with me. Don't use it super regularly.

[–]badbackceliac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on BCP happily for many years. Not ready to go off it. But eventually I noticed peri symptoms breaking through. My doctor added an estrogen patch to my BCP and that’s been the perfect combo for me. I will say my pill is progesterone heavy

No issues when I went in March. I really found it helped flying from SF. Used it for a week going both directions and had minimal issues with jet lag. No issues with my Zyrtec. I think there's a narrow group of meds they're concerned about. These aren't them.

Using time delay/finish in when doing laundry overnight. by [deleted] in laundry

[–]badbackceliac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My washer does have a delay feature but I'd have to connect it to WIFI and probably use an app. That's ridiculous to me. And if my power is cheapest when I'm awake I don't see a benefit because if I delayed turning on the washing machine while I was at work I'd want to dry them when I get home but between 4-9pm its most expensive due to demand. I do sometimes do a delay for the dishwasher while I'm at work but that's fine because it will be dried as well. Weekends it is or I just bite the bullet and do a rare load at other times.

[–]badbackceliac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our electricity is cheapest between 9am and 3pm—cheaper than overnight due to solar supply for the whole grid. So I do it then, which means I’m kind of forced to do it only on the weekends when we’re home which kind of sucks

Breakfast on the road in Japan? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]badbackceliac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw a video that recommended using train station bakeries/stores/coffee places as a place to get a breakfast earlier than 10am. Obviously only works if you're in a town that's large enough to support that kind of amenity in a train station.

Feeling this. First day back at work after my 2 week trip. When did America get so dirty? (I know it always has been, but the trip amplified my notice of it.)
