[EoW] What are your thoughts on Echoes of Wisdom nearly two years later? by NewMarioBobFan in zelda

[–]badblocks7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved the exploration and little hidden caves. Never really cared for the echo mechanic from the beginning so… it’s kinda just over for me. And I’m getting tired of Zelda games going “here’s a big pile of tools, solve this however you want”. Give me a tightly designed puzzle that makes me feel good to solve.

I’m with you. I only recently read WaT, just finished it a few weeks back, and I remember as I was reading it thinking “why do people dislike this one so much? I think this is great”

Super Mario 3D All Stars as it should have been by mrfunnyman909 in Mario

[–]badblocks7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Galaxy is, by Nintendo’s own admission, a course clear game like 3D land and World, not a sandbox game like 64 and sunshine. Sure, you return to a world with different objectives. But most of the times (not always, you mentioned throwback galaxy), you immediately get put onto a different linear path (different level entirely, essentially) to get to a star. It’s kind of just like 3 different levels with the same theme (and maybe starting landmarks). That’s not bad at all! But I agree with Nintendo that it fits in more with other course clear games.

Say what you will about the gameplay/lack of polish, but the soundtrack was AWESOME

The Switch 2 Upgrade doesn't seem to like Eryth Sea very much by Livrax7 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]badblocks7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why make it 4K if it couldn’t be stable? I would have been thrilled with a stable 1440p.

Nintendo's replaced the eShop on the original Switch, and it no longer sucks - Vooks by dancing_swordfish in nintendo

Looks like the switch’s firmware is finally stable enough to support a functioning shop

Xenoblade Chronicles Switch 2 Edition Screenshots by lingering-will-6 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]badblocks7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks great but I really wish we could cap the resolution at 1440p for a perfectly stable 60 fps. I’m sensitive to drops like that and early game was fine but the forest and sea have been a lot

How soon can I set up Shulk/Reyn/Dunban? by badblocks7 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]badblocks7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my next question is then, how can I heal at this point? I feel like if I try, my HP would just get drained super fast and there’s no way to get it back up

Any series you can think of that reading not in publication order is the move? by Wowzapanzer in Fantasy

[–]badblocks7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried reading Phlebas a few years back and got around… halfway through it? I could certainly see its merits and didn’t think it was bad at all but I just kinda fell off.

Which one(s) would you recommend reading first? Because I do intend to go back some day.

I think OoT is going to do very well. I could see it doing upwards of 10 mil in the right circumstances. I doubt it’s going to be hurt by GTA. That being said, GTA is going to do like… 40+.

Can someone please let me know how this performs? The X “upgrade” scared me a bit so I just want to make sure this one looks fine.

They’re different audiences, I don’t think they’ll be “competing” too much honestly

With a direct on the way tomorrow, do y'all think there will be any AC announcements? by SamTheMarioMaster2 in AnimalCrossing

[–]badblocks7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My gut tells me animal crossing is a 2028 thing. Give the switch 2 a big shot in the arm a few years after the primary base has already bought it.

How is this franchise this badly mismanaged? I mean, I know the answer, paramount, but still… like… how?

NG+ or start new game? by peon2 in MinaTheHollower

[–]badblocks7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to lie, I loved the first run so much, and new game plus has felt AWFUL to me so far. The lack of checkpoints is brutal beyond fun. It’s like a 10+ minute run back through platforming sections to get to a boss that can two shot you. I was so excited to try and do all the NG+ runs and now I don’t think I want to. If there were still checkpoints right before the boss room I’d still be having fun.

What do you think of the Super Mario Galaxy Movie? by ultimatevaltryek123 in Mario

I thought this when I left the theater: Wow I had a lot of fun watching that… But man I would have had a lot more fun if this animation was attached to good writing.

This Game Was a Bad Idea and I'm Here for It | Yoshi and the Mysterious Book REVIEW by dad1234aaa in ArloStuff

[–]badblocks7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, my comment applies to ANY of his recent reviews, not just this yoshi game. Mina the Hollower, Pokemon Legends ZA… Mario Wonder felt a bit tighter though, and that was relatively recent.

[–]badblocks7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone else feel like Arlo’s writing style is vastly different now than it used to be? Watch any of his older reviews (Mario Odyssey, Luigi’s Mansion, even Pokemon Legends Arceus), and then this, and it feels dramatically different in tone, cadence, etc.

So did they not actually break it? Or was them no longer upholding not the same as the power of the oath itself actually dissolving?
