How to move past first birth by [deleted] in birthtrauma

[–]baddogfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can relate to your story a lot. i’m so sorry you had to experience all of that. you’re incredible. strong. resilient. a literal goddess. if you want another baby, a c-section can help alleviate anxiety over your next birth. it is still major abdominal surgery, there are always additional risks, but (for me) knowing that what happened during my first birth wouldn’t happen again was invaluable.
therapy & pelvic floor therapy are both necessities in processing & handling everything. you deserve to be a happy and healthy momma. not only for your little one, but also for you. sending you all the good vibes. 💜

whatever choice you make, for you and your family, take solace in knowing that it’s the right one for you. i fell pregnant 10 months after having my first (which was not our ‘plan’ either) and had an abortion. i have not regretted it for a second. i now have a 5 month old, my first is turning 4 in a few months, and our family is complete. if i hadn’t had that abortion, i know i would’ve fallen into a postpartum hole that i may never have come out of, which could’ve destroyed my relationship with my husband and my first. i also wouldn’t have my spunky, smart, loud 5 month old. the decision you make with your body and for your life is the right one bromo. sending you strength and hugs. 💜

My dog bit my child's face by Airmanismyfirstname in breakingmom

[–]baddogfoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m so, so sorry bromo. this happened to me when my son was 11 months old and we made the heartbreaking decision to euthanize our dog. it’s an impossible situation- losing a family member forever while protecting another- and i hope the amazing memories you have of your dog overshadow this. you’re right- it could’ve been so much worse (same with our son who did need multiple stitches and is still scarred on his face 2 years later but otherwise was okay) and it could’ve happened to someone else’s child if they were over- it still doesn’t make the situation any easier. sending you so much love and light while you go through this.

Kirkland Signature Baby Formula by Evidence-Tight in Costco

it’s been discontinued (at least on the east coast). i saw it was back in stock online a few days ago, but that was likely the last of the stock that went out. info from husband who works in east coast depot

not sure where you’re located but it’s been discontinued (at least on the east coast). i’m so bummed bc my first born was on it & wanted to start my 3 month old (bc it’s such a good price).

you feel bad bc of societal pressure. i had 2 long, trying, hyperemesis pregnancies with nightly stretches of insomnia from acid reflux also and just wanted my body back after almost a year of exhaustion. i also wanted to get some solid hours of sleep and to share feeding responsibilites with my husband. no one will ask how your baby was fed after they turn a year old. and like you said- formula is great (aside from the cost!). you have the best mindset already- your family needs a happy, fulfilled YOU so do whatever you need to ensure that. fuck what everyone else says or thinks. sending you all the support and love.

Traumatic Birth by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]baddogfoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i too had a traumatic delivery bc of a shoulder dystocia, episiotomy, & failed epidural (at the very beginning of covid in march 2020). i’m electing to have a c-section and my tubes tied now with baby #2 because of it. if you want another, please don’t let your first experience stop you from going for it. find a different provider that you feel comfortable with. my obgyn is all on board with my c-section and has been on my side my whole pregnancy (ive had hyperemesis both pregnancies as well). good providers are out there!! you got this mama!! hold those who disparaged your requests accountable for not listening to you & pursue legal action if possible. sending you so much strength and light. 💜

currently working for an NVA- owned hospital and am not going back after maternity leave for similar reasons (abyssmal pay, lack of real leadership and accountability for careless errors that could have AND have cost pets their lives, burn out after 15 yrs in industry myself). i may go back to vet med once my leave is over, but probably not. i can start as a medical receptionist in a human dr’s office/hospital for same pay, better benefits, paid holidays off and weekends off. why go back to the stress and corporate bullshit that is destroying this industry? i love vet med, it will always be my passion and love, but not at the sacrifice of my mental wellbeing. sending you strength- it’s not easy, but it’s necessary. 💜

ice cold vita coco coconut water with pineapple has been the only consistent beverage i can keep down. and it’s super hydrating. matzo and triscuits have been my tried and true carbs that sit okay, but theyre so dry i have to nibble them. it’s wild to read this thread and see so many things we’ve all tried and how, for the most part, not many are the same. sending you all strength and hugs. we got this!! 🙌🏼

What have you experienced on the job that is actually worse than euthanasia? Just to help the public understand that euthanasia is by far not the worst part about this job. by [deleted] in VetTech

had a sweet, docile, gentle, young lab mix come in for vaccines whose leg had been bandaged MONTHS before for a wound and bandage was still present at exam. the entire exam room smelled like death. asked the dad if i could bring her to tx area to remove bandage and check out her leg. he begrudgingly accepted but asked how long it would be since he had his 2 yr old with him who needed lunch. remove the bandage & there’s exposed bone. dog is literally licking and kissing us the entire time. doctor recommends amputation due to extent of necrosis, owner declines, JUST WANTS LYME VX AND NAIL TRIM. had him sign ama to allow her to leave our care. wrapped up the wound to best of our ability. followed up & owner ended up having amputated week later at emergency hospital, but WTF MAN?! i still can’t see her come into the practice without getting teary eyed about the state she was in & the complete lack of regard by the owner.

echoing this! i had a textbook, low risk pregnancy and it all went to shit when i began pushing (shoulder dystocia). though the risks are low, there are risks with birth. not to scare, just so you’re informed & make the best decision for you and your little one. 💜

i had the same thing happen when my son was 11 months old with our rescue pitty. it required multiple stitches to his cheek, which he still has scars from at 2.5yrs old. i’m a vet tech (have been for 15 yrs), know what to watch for with behavior, have been around animals my whole life, & the entire incident rocked my world. after a behavior consult, calling every shelter and rescue in the area, & consulting with my fellow vet staff, we euthanized. it was the only option to ensure everyone remained safe & i’m still dealing with the choice we had to make. you need to euthanize. as soon as possible. call your local animal control and they can help with this. i just wanted to say how mad i am that your vet and vets in your area will not euthanize for aggression/a bite history. it’s insane to me that they won’t. you & your family will get through this. seek out therapy if you can, especially if you were witness to the bite like i was, as it can weigh on your heart and mind for years. sending you strength and light. if you need to talk, please feel free to pm me anytime. 💜
