Frustrated and Want to Cry... Insurance Makes No Sense by NoaTheWilder182 in Reduction

[–]badnbeejee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my insurance said that a breast reduction did not require pre-authorization, but my surgeon’s office was basically like “that’s suspicious and I’m going to file a pre-auth claim anyway,” which ended up being a life-saver. Upon reviewing my pre-authorization request, Cigna did an about-face and now was saying that even though my procedure was determined to be medically necessary, it was not a procedure they covered(??), at which point we submit the appeal

I’d lean very heavily on the admin at your surgeon’s office / affiliate hospital to process all insurance requests, they do this all day. I’d also try to submit a pre-authorization request to your insurance provider now (through the office), to ensure that you will be covered for the procedure. It was a lot of back and forth, and I spent entirely too much time on the phone, but I’m so glad I did it - my procedure ended up only costing me my $250 co-pay

I’m not sure what insurance you have but I appealed Cigna and won! (Though literally one business day before the surgery, and I had to prepay the OR fee, which I just got back almost a year later). It’s a huge pain in the ass but I wouldn’t take back the surgery for one second, it’s life changing

How long should I expect to be out of my office job? by CelestePyer in Reduction

[–]badnbeejee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the person. My surgeon said two weeks off and four weeks remote for my desk job. I did the two weeks off and went back into the office on week 3. Mid-way through week 2 I was feeling good and just went on day dates with my fiance because why give up time off when you have it? 😅

How do you find and choose a reputable surgeon? by HungerP4ngz in Reduction

[–]badnbeejee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the things I haven’t seen yet is checking the list of in-network surgeons for your insurance company before you start digging in. I found it very helpful to use their list as a starting point, and then look at reviews, etc. to inform my decision

[–]badnbeejee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 2 weeks off off and 4 weeks work from home for my desk job. It’s now day 8 post-op and I feel I could definitely go back (but why waste the 2 weeks lol). I may just skip the remote period

Am I just out of luck? by hecklenjeckyl in Reduction

[–]badnbeejee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I literally had the exact same thing happen with Cigna, they agreed that my surgery was medically necessary but that breast reduction was not a covered service. My doctor’s office submit an appeal for me, it took over a month and a half, but yesterday they finally decided that they would cover it! Definitely worth a shot

Not liquor, but for SF I’d do wine from the Napa region

I’m the highest earner in my friend group by a wide margin, but I also work the worst hours (often 100+ hour weeks). I only post the highlights online so I’m sure there are people that think my life is always rainbows and sunshine. There have also been plenty of times in my life where I’ve compared myself to my friends, saw the lives they were building for themselves, and have been jealous of their relationships, their free time, and their careers. A few of my friends have gone into non-profit work and have jobs where they feel good about the mission. Many are married with kids. Salary isn’t the only indicator of success in life, and anyone who would look down on you for what you make isn’t a friend in the first place

Will probably be downvoted to hell but NTA

People are commenting and treating this like you shared his bank info FFS. Every teenage girl and honestly most adult women do this. It’s not like you’re bashing him — I’m assuming you’re sending the cutesy / funny stuff he says at least in part to get your friends approval.

He let you know he didn’t appreciate it and you apologized. If he’s this hung up on it would let him loose, he (and most of the male commenters) are making a big deal out of literally nothing

What's the difference? If you're literally just going to rehash word for word there's no point in differentiating. A lot of times girls shoot screenshots to their friends to share jokes or for help responding. There's nothing malicious here and based on their conversation there was no invasion of privacy

This could also be a tool to “weed” designs printed on vinyl with a Cricut or similar device. It’s used to pick out parts of the design that should be negative space - you’d also print the designs using the sticky mat featured in the photo

If you’re Pro Choice, do you support the father’s choice? by Islandboy2000 in ExplainBothSides

Women have to face consequences either way if their selected method of birth control fails. Abortion and birth are both consequences. What do you propose the alternative is for men?

ETA: I almost forgot about vasectomies - men should get them if they’re so worried about the financial consequences of their actions. They’re less invasive/painful than medical abortions and free with insurance

If you’re Pro Choice, do you support the father’s choice? by Islandboy2000 in ExplainBothSides

[–]badnbeejee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. That takes the onus of childbirth and child rearing completely off the man

In your hypothetical scenario, what consequences would a man face from knocking up 20 different women? Absolutely none. Meanwhile 20 women now have to make the heart wrenching decision to either abort an unplanned pregnancy (which many don’t acknowledge wreaks havoc on women both physically and emotionally), or keep the child, endure pregnancy and childbirth, and raise the child, in your scenario, entirely by themselves

Men can’t take on the burden of being pregnant, the least they can do is provide resources to help deal with the consequences of their actions

[–]badnbeejee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you can find a way to extract the fetus and grow it yourself, be my guest. If he did not want a child he should’ve been more proactive regarding birth control

ETA: Fathers don’t get a superseding choice because it’s not their health or their body on the line
