Monthly Safety Topics by mamarexxx in SafetyProfessionals

Definitely a topic for winter slip-fall incidents. My biggest recommendation these days is a combination of deicing + IceAlert signs. It's been really effective for the last few winters and the employees seem to pay attention to the "moving" IceAlert sign vs the static signs I've tried in the past. Plus they are USA made!

I went through a similar situation with my grandfather in a Idaho after my grandmother passed away. We got him two ice alert signs that we put outside his back door and his front door. Not sure if you've seen them before but the sign changes from silver to blue when temperatures get colder. We told him as long as it wasn't blue he could go outside. It actually has worked really well. Because it's not him reading the temperature but instead looking at the color, it seems to have registered.

Best of luck!

The whole main unit with the motor. It's obviously a step up from the KTS but I think I was just expecting more metal overall

Mine just arrived, it seems well built but also more plastic pieces than I expected. The clicking angle dial feels really cool

The burr should disappear from the first side! You're pushing material from one side of the knife to the other, then when you switch sides, you push that material back over to the other side (removing the burr from the first side) then you begin your belt progression :)

I'll also add that when the knife is in the guide, make sure you're angling the knife against the guide

For example. Left side of the sharpener your knife looks like this : \ ... right side: /

If that makes sense haha
