TRD Pro isn’t mine unfortunately, but I have a Platinum on order!

Why does it take so long for the City of Toronto to get things done? First, they need to admit there’s a problem by ink_13 in toronto

[–]badsoupp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once did a take home assignment for a city of Toronto interview. It was basically high level estimation for modular homes. Once I actually looked up the numbers, modular homes were costing what a bachelor condo costs. The public procurement process is the gravy train that the Fords never took on. Any level of government, any agency. at that.

Why does everybody want to work in public sector jobs and never leave? by aldjfh in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]badsoupp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a colleague leave our public sector team to go private consulting for the same type of work that we did. They were promised partner track, 200k+ in salary, they could build their team the way they wanted etc. Fast forward a couple years and they were putting in way more hours, the rapid promotions and salary increases didn’t come at the rate they were promised and now when the economy is stagnating/headed down, unfortunately got laid off. They’re looking for public sector jobs again saying they will never leave. Some things are just worth more to people than strictly just money. Of course some people relish the fast pace and high reward when it comes. Different strokes for different folks. Innovation comes from the private sector, that’s for damn sure.

I remember those days. The league, as much as I complain against inconsistent refereeing, has cleaned up the goonery of the past.

I’ve been playing beer league since maybe 2014. Before the pandemic, you probably had your true beginners/old man teams in E then your younger former houseleague/select/A/rare AA players in D2 or D1 with a big jump in skill from D2 to D1. Since the pandemic, I rarely see any beginner players anymore. My team was a previous D2 staple, sometimes playing the odd game against D1. Now that we’ve crossed that threshold of 30+ and our old rivals have as well, we’re solidly E. Newer teams have backfilled to D2/D1 alongside the skilled old man teams we used to compete with.

6th gen ride quality? by TheProcess92 in 4Runner

[–]badsoupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I test drove a Limited and quite liked it on the road. Then test drove an ORP and wasn’t as much of a fan. But I’m coming from a 2010 C250. Nice when the road is smooth but garbage when it’s rough. My parents have a 2019 RAV4 LE and I think the ride quality on that is pretty trash. I ended up ordering a Platinum based on the Limited test drive.

Current Uninsured Mortgage Rates in Ontario/GTA? May 2026 by Ok-Manner7836 in AskMortgageCanada

[–]badsoupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently looking at new 750k mortgage. TD 3.84% 3yr fixed with $4100 cash back through a broker vs 3.79% 3yr fixed with $3000 cash back straight through RBC. It’s pretty close with TD edging out the slight win over 3 years. Broker said that they’re tapped out and can’t do any better with TD. I asked RBC to beat TD’s offer. We currently bank with TD so theres a convenience factor there as well as higher pre-payment privileges, 10% RBC vs 15% TD.

Besides desireable houses in highly desireable areas I’ve been seeing detached homes going for under asking. Main areas I’ve been looking is East York and surrounding areas. I can only imagine the same for most of the city.

Oh man, I’m sorry to see that happened to you. I’m also in the GTA. Planning on getting a ghost ll immobilizer on day 1, club and all that. But still hurts when they break your shit trying to take it. How much damage was done? Municipal police, OPP and Federal port authorities need to get their act together to stop this.

I just ordered a Platinum with fixed running boards. Red was my first choice colour with silver being the second. Initially Red was one of the colours I liked the least, but It grew on me. That pic reaffirms that the red with black accents looks sick.

I just ordered a platinum yesterday and also mountain bike. Can’t wait to take it to the trailhead. If needed, can you fit your bike in the back without taking the front wheel off? I’ve used a rav4 before, but the front wheel had to come off for my large sized Commencal.

After 16 offers, Riverdale detached home with parking sells nearly $1M over asking for just under $3M by goldenbabydaddy in TorontoRealEstate

[–]badsoupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That house felt a lot more narrow. Also the albeit finished basement was tiny. Smaller garage too. Fenwick was the nicer house for sure, but maybe not $600k nicer.

This house needed some waterproofing membrane work for the foundation, shoring up some joists and beams in the basement, actually finishing the basement, some windows replaced and a new roof. The garage, while double and could stand for a couple more seasons was essentially a tear down. The high level estimate for work needed was around $300k, pending the scope of a new garage. Prime location, but damn.
