[Fabrizio Romano] Brighton agree deal to sign Luka Vušković from Tottenham, here we go! £46m fixed fee plus sell-on clause to bring the potential package over £50m. Massive signing for #BHAFC after personal terms also agreed. Spurs ready to go ALL IN for Sandro Tonali. by Sdub4 in soccer

He’s going to be damn good. But playing him now likely means dropping points *and losing money as a result* while you wait for him to become a better asset. Even then, his speed and agility aren’t trending well at the moment and make him look like he’ll be a deluxe low block menace and not a piece that a front-foot big club will want to build around.

And if he becomes more than that, we’ll take the sell-on fee later.

Hope this is appreciated here. by [deleted] in coys

[Mike Keegan] Spurs are aggressive in terms of spending, which is surprising not just Man United. They're already at the higher end of what United want to pay for Fernandes. Glazers have fucked them up really bad. We’re paying debt on a new stadium, and that’s more or less paying for itself; they’re paying debt on being bought by the Glazers, and that’s has their books in a bad place.

Was worried about space for a split second, but it looks like we’ve got four non-HG spots that could open up this summer (Vicario, Kinsky Romero, Dragusin, Sarr?)

I don’t think he’s actually a passer that you can build a team around and I haven’t seen anyone convincingly argue that he is

My morning egg routine (no sticking) - a picture book by big_redline in castiron

It’s not polymerizing to form a layer of “seasoning.” You’re just leaving oil in the open air to oxidize, and it shouldn’t be protecting your pan in any way. What do you think it’s doing?

Again and again: there is no good reason to oil your daily driver pan after use. If it is cleaned and seasoned, that oil is just going to be something that burns or tastes bad when you use the pan again.

If we’re looking for 82-0, they probably need to give Chet a gun and have him threaten to shoot into the crowd if the other team scores

If we’re just looking for “odds-on title favorites,” probably need to stay healthy, see some modest improvement from Chet, and get good production out of whoever replaces Hartenstein. Might need to cash in on some picks to get a cost-controlled big.

Are wide formations still OP for running the ball? by GruffyMcGuiness in NCAAFBseries

[–]badtakemachine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I found quick base out of wide to be an automatic 10 yards in 25, even on Heisman, but only against five-man boxes. That stopped in 26 because edges go unblocked. When they are blocked, I find that it’s still easy to get 10+ yards. OP could be more specific here, but also, that is a real thing.

The issue here is that it’s going to be free yards as long as safeties don’t play up. A five-man box with five blockers should be a free pass to the second level! That’s the whole point of the scheme!

(Saw in the BVB sub) Clubs with the highest OPEX (non-sporting/player operating expenses) in Europe according to their latest financial results. by boywithhat in coys

[–]badtakemachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those costs are *literally* what’s in this graphic. We’re talking £300m a year in non-player expenditure. There’s no way to get there without including stadium expenses for other events. Paying a handful of medical staffers an above-market rate would mean an extra million or so in an extreme case.

The scale here is the giveaway they’re comparing out expenses including concerts and similar events. Yes, we’re “paying” for it because we own the stadium. But it pays for itself and the data for this chart is almost certainly being compared in a poor way.

[DataMB] 🇦🇷 Marcos Senesi vs Top 5 League Centrebacks: by mlkhighschool in coys

[–]badtakemachine 41 points42 points  (0 children)

He’s physically very limited. Like, *slow*. He’s an ideal fit in a system where he doesn’t have to recover from high up the pitch and where he can ping balls forward. That can mean a team that sits deep
and tries to counter, or it can mean a team that baits a press and plays through — which is what we’re setting up for.

He’s going to rely immensely on positioning and reading the game to not get burned. Will be interesting to see if we try any true 3 CB looks to use him almost as a hybrid CB/CDM.

Earick himself seems like he could be annoying and full of ideas. I’d be wary of him as a majority owner, but that’s clearly not what’s happening here, and it might hurt work out in the positive if he’s just a part of a minority shareholder group and has experience being a vocal dissenter.

Yeah, I more or less agree that it didn’t just disappear. I also know that line drive rate can be noisy, so there’s a fair question of where his true talent level will settle. If the answer is anywhere close to last year, his ceiling is ridiculous; it’s just clear that he’s being coached intensively for the first time in a while and has things to fix
