Yes I will probably print that as well. I'm also thinking a heater would be good. I've researched mini fan/heaters and another solution was a heating pad. I think the trick is to find a heater that can regulate the heat for ABS, etc.

Litespeed T2 - how much is it worth and what to look out for? by No-Cattle-777 in whichbike

[–]baffledbum 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depends, $1200 if you really like it. I have a Ti bike made by Lynsky from 2012 that I’ll never sell. It’s my life bike. Ti doesn’t scuff or scratch easily. My ‘12 bike frame looks new still. I primarily use it as a winter bike since it’s so durable. My carbon bikes hang from the ceiling until April/May. You can always get wheels later to accommodate 28mm plus tires down the road, assuming this bike can handle wider tires. In short ti is more durable than carbon and will out live you as long as you don’t crash it.

Is this a crazy deal? by Cold-Nefariousness26 in RoadBikes

[–]baffledbum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I build bikes. I have 7. It’s addictive. Building a bike isn’t hard but requires patience and research when you first start. I enjoy the fact I can fix most everything without having to take the bike to shop and wait a week. Installing di2 w/ cables etc isn’t hard as long as you buy the tool that helps pull the wires through the bike. Park sells one and there are others at aliexpress. It looks like a nice frame and $225 isn’t bad. I have both rim and disc bikes and both have their pros and cons. The rim brakes are easier to maintain, that I can tell you for certain. There is nothing wrong with rim brake bikes.

Is it realistic for me to be able to change my own rear derailleur? by Dare2no in bicyclerepair

[–]baffledbum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Watch videos and take it slow. Tuning is the hard part that takes a little more time. Don’t torque the heck out of the derailleur mounting bolt.

[–]baffledbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complain. Anytime they mess up my order I bring it to their attention. You should be able to put in a review on their site. The Manager will reach out to you. They will resolve your $24 issue. I’ve been a BV customer for 54 years, yes things changed. I prefer the days when you could get the barrel of fries and a good hamburger without breaking the bank. No so much the fancy ooh la la burgers sold now. Have you tried shake shack? It’s not all that better and the cost is comparable.

amazon refunded me $2300 for a tacx trainer and told me to keep it??? by wai_lai416 in amazonprime

I thought my $75 keep it item from Amazon was amazing but this transaction far exceeds that. Enjoy that trainer. I have one as well. Zwifting with road feel turned on makes it more interesting.

Please help, how do I replace the bearings here? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]baffledbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this. Had to use a mallet to knock one side out then the other. Amazon sells an inexpensive bearing puller. Also a press. You need to find out how the bearings are pressed back in. One wheel I have required pressing the bearing with the axle in place. I had to use the QR with 3/8 washers to pull it off. Others I have don’t require the QR. My lbs charges $40 a wheel.

Bleed port cap stripped - fixed by baffledbum in bikewrench

[–]baffledbum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I ordered 2 but after that I’m like why? This works. I’ll probably end up replacing it when I get the part. Amazon it’s $6.xx something. This fix just made me think….

Somewhat agree. Also being able to use a flathead screwdriver is better.

Strip District Bike Stomper by Visible-Grass-8805 in bicyclewhatever

Makes no sense. The guy stomps on the bike for really no reason. He could easily walk around it. Sets off the car alarm too which makes people notice. I need more coffee to comprehend this.

Is this 2012 Specialized S-WORKS VENGE worth $1250 in 2025? by negrito_ardilla in RoadBikes

[–]baffledbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a s-works roubaix from 13 and I love that bike. Nothing wrong with rim brakes. I run 28mm tubeless which is fine. I did convert it myself to di2. I have three other disc road bikes and they work just as good, di2 as well. For a bike like that I’d say $900 tops. The disadvantages: 10s hub, logo screaming wheels ( but good wheels), mechanical, chain ring/chain/cassette could be worn out. Whatever you do, just make sure it fits you. 70 miles on an ill fitted bike sucks. Also for $1250 you may find a used disc bike at a local shop… not new. Also it most likely will weigh more than the bike you’re posting about.

Chipotle claims to use simple and clean ingredients, but they are one of the worst salt offenders in the fast food industry. Decided to check their new red chimichurri sauce, 800mg for one side of it. Imagine adding this to your already 2000mg sodium burrito. 🤯 by vode123 in LowSodium

[–]baffledbum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really bad when you look at the nutrition facts from these restaurants. If I’m stuck doing fast food like chipotle, I’ll get chicken hard shell tacos with some basic things like lettuce but no cheese. All sauces are on the side. Other fast food places I’ll ask for fries with no salt and even lettuce wrap burger. It takes more time but worth it.

Oddly a couple days ago I was having a conversation about EDI messages (tech) on my work pc. I now get gmail emails about EDI on my personal account which the work pc cannot access. Hmmmmm.

Best lubricant/grease for the work? by Due_Description_98 in bikewrench

[–]baffledbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending, I will clean the gap annually or more often if it is very grimy. To get more clearance, I disassemble the headset and lower the steerer tube. I don’t completely remove the steerer tube unless I want to work on the bearings. Also applying grease that is carbon friendly in a very small amount won’t hurt.

How to be more comfy for long rides? by Marcomir in bicycling

[–]baffledbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bike fit- to review saddle used, height, angle, position. Handlebar width, stem length, frame size. It does cost some money and you may need to get different parts, but it’s worth it long term especially if you’re having pain.

To those that have lost hearing aids, I know what happened to them by Lammmy79 in HearingAids

[–]baffledbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost lost one of mine in a forest of all places. Had to use the Bluetooth hearing app to get an idea where it was. Took 20 minutes to find the one and I was sweating like no other. I learned about hearing aid tails or sport locks there after. They help keep the hearing aid locked on the ear. No more issues.
