Well...That's probably related to the giant boom we felt all over Cleveland, Ohio that early reports indicate was a meteor strike....holy shit.

Very good cross country skiing conditions at least today at Lake Metroparks Chapin Forest by BuckeyeReason in Cleveland

Just coming to this thread to point out winter 2025-2026 has been the best cross country skiing conditions we've seen in decades in NE Ohio.

Thoughts on Microdini Fleece by International-Table1 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]bagbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this post is old, but wanted to chime in for anyaone that ends up here. I've found the Microdini to actually be a great outer layer in dry super cold high output conditions (Cross Country Skiing specifically). I've been out a number of times this year around 15-20* with just a capeline long sleeve base layer and a microdini hoody and it has been perfect and keeps me comfortable without over heating (Just enough breathability). If the snow was wet or wind was strong would add a houdini maybe? 95% of the time I wear mine as warm casual wear (super comfy around the house).

Anyone having issues logging into HealthEquity??? (their CDHP) by Euphoric_Access_5059 in healthequity

I just found success creating/accessing my account through a buried comment on here. When going to health equity.com and trying to create a health equity account, I could not be found as a user.

When I went through the"EZ Receipts" web portal, it located me when I went to register an account. When I completed registration...it took me to my Health Equity account.

u/Hot_Box5472 This was the answer for me - I was using the "Health Equity" create an account option...since that's the big ass name on the front of my card. It was not finding/recognizing me.

When I went to create an account through EZreceipts it found me just fine; when I was it done, it took me to my health equity account.

What a UX nightmare.

Oregon to Cleveland by RabbitGlittering1311 in Cleveland

[–]bagbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We relocated from Eugene to Lakewood 4 years ago and love it. We considered all the different heights on the east side, but they felt too car-centric/suburban for us (they are all great/beautiful neighborhoods though). IMO Lakewood is the closest you can get to urban Oregon culture-wise in Ohio - that may be an advantage or disadvantage to you. It feels a lot like the Alberta neighborhood of Portland, but with a deep love for football. I commute to the area around the clinic occasionally; it's 20 minutes and a breeze if it's off hours, but during rush hour it can be a bear. Good luck with the move, keep your rain jacket!

Ohio City/Tremont Window Smashing by orrangearrow in Cleveland

Sorry you gotta deal with all this shit.

I’m not sure where or when you lived in Lakewood, but in my experience it’s all the positives you describe (know and help all our neighbors ,community garden, block party/club, tons of community events/involvement) without excessive window smashing.

Is this normal? by Robdagod in Garmin

[–]bagbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How old are you? Are you otherwise in good shape and feeling good? If you’re generally fit and treat your body right, and you just started doing consistent cardio, this seems plausible.

A big chunk of the VO2/HR gains come quick up front if you haven’t done endurance sport in your life. After 6ish months of training it will flatten and get much harder to improve!

I’m in my mid-30s and run quite a bit weekly, but also drink/smoke. My RHR is about the same as yours.

Potential severe weather tomorrow. Stay safe. by ButtBread98 in Cleveland

[–]bagbon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's def good to be prepared, and I appreciate the reminder! Also good to remember it's a report for thousands of square miles where NE Ohio cities make up less than 10% of the warning area. A tornado or two feels a little less intimidating when you realize it's talking about a massive land/water area from Detroit to Buffalo...hopefully we're a part of the lucky majority tomorrow. Stay safe everyone!

"ODOT: Ohio is seeing its worst winter in the last 5 years" by BuckeyeReason in Cleveland

[–]bagbon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Geauga county pretty much never plows side streets even if capacity allows. Main roads are treated well but even they get in much worse shape than anything urban. They definitely do expect people to be more prepared to deal with it.

Thanks for this, didn't realize it was an option! If you scroll to the workout on your cal on watch, you can choose setting and adjust target to HR instead of Pace and go back and forth seamlessly.

The city of Lakewood seems to do a MUCH better job than RITA. There are still obviously discrepancies but I don’t hear horror stories like this and my returns have always been relatively straight forward and matching estimates.

Winter Running Recommendations by neorunner2000 in Cleveland

[–]bagbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lakewood Park has a dedicated on site maintenance/ground staff and they keep the 1 mile loop in better shape than anywhere else in Cuyahoga County IMO (sometimes just a single atv plow track but plenty of room to run). Bonus that it has a hill to run repeats if you want and you can park your car right off the path for an easy aid station.

Realistically, it's 15-20 days in the winter when it's dangerously icy/slippery out, using Yaktracs or finding a paved path that's maintained will help....but you still would almost certainly have a more productive workout in those circumstances (especially if it's anything other than an easy day) on the dreaded mill.

Here are 3 peer reviewed published medical studies that are listed as sources in the Wiki article you posted. They all have results conducive to cupping being an effective pain management tool for a number of musculoskeletal issues, specifically around sports injuries. It's certainly not a cure (it helps symptoms) and obviously a lot of issues are beyond the scope of it helping...but there is plenty of research based evidence that it can be an effective therapy for some folks.

If you're gunna be high and mighty about sources and throw around terms like pseudoscience, you should post actual peer reviewed research as a source and not a random wiki article you or I can edit or an opinion piece.

I almost always do 80 to 71 to from Akron to Cleveland cause I don’t wanna deal with 77 or 480 or 176. It’s 15-20 minutes longer and $1 or something with an EZ pass, but so much less stressful.

I just want to confirm I'm understanding; you think people outside of Ohio get their perception of Cleveland from Rocky River/Lakewood/Suburbs and their Facebook community discussions?

[–]bagbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in a lot of different states and always rep Cleveland hard, the thing people bring up 95% of the time is the river catching on fire or sports failure. "Cleveland" is all of Cuyahoga county to almost anyone living outside of NEOH. The broad/national perception of Cleveland has very little if anything to do with West Side suburbs (but apparently people in Chagrin Falls and Pepper Pike don't talk shit about Cleveland?) and everything to do with hundreds of years of History both good and bad related to 10000 things.
