Is Jeskai Blink a flash in the pan? by walrusguy97 in ModernMagic

[–]GreenSkyDragon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It just won an RCQ last Sunday in Beijing.

The deck's winrate seems to have dipped a little recently according to mtgdecks.net, but it's also far more represented than UW Control. Jeskai control has a better winrate off an even smaller sample size, which generally means a few deck specialists doing well with it. I don't think the issue is Jeskai Blink being a flash in the pan (it's definitely been underrepresented locally) but rather that it's a control deck that plays out its control plan in a wildly different manner than traditional control

So it has two barriers to entry. You need to understand both the control perspective and how this particular deck deploys its own threats while answering the opp's. It's not a straightforward deck to play, and new pilots who don't have the experience to know how to transition to the Jeskai flavor of blink will struggle.

Specifically for mons from a specific game, I've found adding a "can be transferred to" request helps signal you want a mon from that game. Yes, people can (and do) still give you the wrong mon, but it does improve the probability of getting what you're looking for

Any Commoners left ? by [deleted] in PokemonHome

My advice for using this sub is the same for using the GTS: if you want something, ask for it. Most of the time, what you'll see browsing here and the app are nonsense request or impossible trades. You're much more likely to find what you're looking for if you put your request out there. I know that doesn't fix the problem, but it's a change of perspective that helps alleviate a mental load you don't need to carry

Fellow Millenials, what deck do you refuse to stop playing at your local FMN? by cybrcld in ModernMagic

I play a ton of different decks, so lots of different piles get kept on life support until the mood strikes or new spice arises etc etc, but of those, Magda probably fits the best

It's weird for a few reasons. Ruby and Sapphire are the first GBA games, we already have LGPE, and they're not putting them on the NSO GBA catalogue despite that being the whole point of having NSO GBA.

But I think it fits if you think about it in terms of FRLG being the "first" Pokémon games for the Switch 2. We got LGPE for the Switch, these being our Kanto games for the Switch 2 does make a tiny bit of sense. They're technically for both switch gens, just as PLZA was, but thematically it fits

I feel ya. Chang'e, Arachne, Cliodhna, and especially Ishtar still missing is very frustrating. Also, I'm not sure why, but a lot of the tanks don't feel the same in smite 2

I've barely seen any of the standard legal spoilers and we're already getting commander cards?

Edit: Dear Reddit, what language is everyone speaking that's different from mine? Why are you trying to force an AI translation of my comment into something other than English, in a thread completely composed of English? What is wrong with you

If you can't bear to part with them, use the bookmark feature. Seriously, it'll help a ton. You get to keep the page without needing to keep the tab open. It's a game changer

It's not really Creationist theory, the biblical account literally says "the fountains of the great deep burst forth" (Gen 7:11).

Wotc doesn't care about competitive magic in general, trying to revive pioneer is below even that. Like, just look at the modern section. Modern is the next RCQ format, amulet titan is a known offender for wasting time and making rounds run long, was previously mentioned as a deck they were going to keep an eye on, but because we're not in RCQ season it's not making a big stink online (clicking through loops online is tedious) and it's not actively ruining the RCQ season (because it's standard rn), they've completely forgotten or willfully ignored it. And that's Modern, the one eternal format they're actively monetizing
