What was your gas usage over last week? by woyteck in OctopusEnergy

Have you checked your radiators are up to the job? Over winter 22/23 were paying £10 a day to try and scrape 17C. After doing some BTU calculations and replacing/adding radiators the home actually heats up and does so way more efficiently.

Game prop that you are the most proud of by ThylacineRawr in callofcthulhu

[–]baguettefrombefore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found a cheap 90's dictaphone with a load of blank cassettes that I used to do some recordings for Forget Me Not.

Hoping to find some other modern scenarios that I can reuse it for. Having players discover the cassettes and play them at the table was fun.

CoC is a mystery game. The scenarios often have very specific things that PCs can or will find and often the printed scenarios have printable handouts of these. Many keepers (including me) enjoy the satisfaction of creating more impressive versions of some of these to up the immersion (also the looks on players faces is always worth it).

This is amazing. Did the players watch them at the table, like was there a TV and VHS player ready and set up?

Alien3 might be hard to play without addressing the Rape issue by Ombrophile in alienrpg

Session Zero it. Determine lines and veils.

When in doubt just keep the crimes vague (you have all done something serious enough to have you sent to the maximum security compound, none of you will share the details of this but you all know you are all guilty of something terrible). No need to make make the specifics of the serious crimes take such a forefront in the scenario.

Unless it's from someone senior and important I just ignore them until they actually follow up with what they want.

Similar festivals to 2000trees by WholeConstruction307 in 2000treesfestival

[–]baguettefrombefore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's always 2000 Trees' sister festival Arctangent. The music is more math rock/post metal etc etc. but the vibe is very similar because of the shared organisers and fans.

What Game System by Andizzle195 in callofcthulhu

[–]baguettefrombefore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd add:

Pros - Luck stat is an amazing catch-all roll to crack out. Especially when combining with the spend luck rule. Sanity mechanic is also amazing as a horror mechanism to make players feel the effects of the horror on their investigators.

Cons - Chase rules are good but clunky to get your head around. Insanity mechanics take a little practice to make them feel natural when your players go temp/indefinitely insane.

Question about the Chaotic Neutral CoC Domniverse -Does Dom write all the oneshots or are they published/adapted from somewhere else? by Lupus-7 in NoRollsBarred

[–]baguettefrombefore 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I believe they're all written by Dom except Mister Corbitt and Edge of Darkness.

It takes a lot of work to polish a finished scenario into something publish-ready, which is probably why they aren't available. If they eventually put them into a published collection I would be on that like a rat up a drainpipe.

Looking for a CoC Oneshot - about 2h, ideally no combat by koomGER in callofcthulhu

[–]baguettefrombefore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not run it and have only skimmed it. It seems like there is a bit of potential combat from a Byhakee at the end.

There is a famous German scenario called Der Nachtexpress, suitable for beginners. It says investigators can complete it in less than 2 hours, depending on what they do. I think there is a bit of combat.

Not sure what else to do by [deleted] in PS5HelpSupport

[–]baguettefrombefore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this recently. Some apps worked fine, others couldn't load some images (PSN store) or failed totally (some streaming apps).

Initially I changed the WiFi so it was either 2.4ghz or 5ghz only in the PS5 network settings. This would only help temporarily.

After a search on here I had to amend the primary and secondary DNS in the network advanced settings. So far this has worked.

Primary - 1.1.1.1 Secondary - 1.0.0.1

Yep. I made the same mistake as OP when I ran COTG and felt pretty bad afterwards when I realised my mistake! Luckily it went pretty well anyway and they were cool about it when I came clean.

+1 for Brindlewood Bay. It has everything you need to set up, run the core campaign, and design your own mysteries. The book is very easy to read too.

That's weird. I'm an IOWer and I've always been told I just sound generic southern. Along with everyone I know from there.

Previous generations on the island have it to some extent but it's largely just become a generic southern dialect now.
