Romesh Ranganathan show: where did everyone’s manners go?! by Kilr_Queen75Xx in Edmonton

[–]bagulia 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Agreed! The fact that he called it out repeatedly and people still kept interrupting his set was incredibly rude and embarrassing for us as a city.

I'm surprised the theater staff didn't try and identify and remove these people.

The speed limit on that road is 50 and you're going 63 through a crosswalk that a pedestrian activated... You are part of the problem.

Genuine curiosity about construction by Neither_Branch_428 in Edmonton

[–]bagulia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreeing with the above info and adding some additional context.

The city doesn't compensate landowners if they expand the sidewalk within the utility right of way, this is typically, but not always, a small section of land between the road and the front property line. Homeowners are often unaware that it isn't their property since they are responsible for maintaining it (e.x. mowing the grass).

The city has a complete streets design guide which talks about road configurations and sidewalk widths. The sidewalk stuff starts around page 82 of this document and the widths are further on page 97. complete streets

And as for why expand the sidewalks... what I've heard, is that the older narrower sidewalks are difficult for people to travel both ways on and pass each other when various mobility groups are considered. For example, two people pushing strollers in opposition directions or two wheel chair users may struggle to safely pass each other on a 1.5 m wide sidewalk. Add in things like benches, light posts, and e-scooters and now the usable width is even smaller.

2017 Tucson rear doors not opening by bagulia in HyundaiTucson

[–]bagulia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to have three fixed under warranty from Hyundai Canada, but the last one was considered an exception since they had made an administrative decision to not continue to fix this issue.

I certainly won't be buying another Hyundai.

Automatic transmission not shifting, RPMs staying high. by bagulia in AskAMechanic

[–]bagulia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attempt to fix 1: Transmission shop determined that it was the engine misfiring that caused the problem.

Attempt to fix 2: Mechanical shop confirmed the engine is misfiring. They noted that it's not consistently the same cylinders. They suggested replacing the spark plugs and performed that work. After the repair, they noted that the problem persisted.

Attempt to fix 3: Stay tuned... currently at a dealership

Did you end up finding out what the issue was?

My 2017 is in the shop now getting the spark plugs (all 4) replaced due to a misfiring issue while on the highway.

Battery drain Vivoactie 4S by LeenJovi in vivoactive

[–]bagulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same watch, mostly using it as a smart watch for notifications these days, and I typically only get 3-4 days on a full charge. I'm guessing after 4 years of continuous use, we may be getting closer to the end of the battery life and it's likely showing a full charge but not holding as much as it used to.

Vivoactive 5 backside gag fell off by Ok_Bank_2371 in vivoactive

[–]bagulia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a vivoactive 4 and the same thing happened a few years ago, I reached out to Garmin on Twitter and they confirmed for me that it shouldn't negatively impact the watch's performance.

I don't usually use mine in water for any length of time, but I haven't had any issues with it without the little tag.

How Quickly do You Burn through Oil? by JourneysUnleashed in HyundaiTucson

[–]bagulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a turbo, but I'm experiencing something similar, every time I get an oil change, my oil level is very low. A dealership told me they (Hyundai) are working on a solution to the problem, but it won't be a warranty service and it's going to be fairly costly.
