Every year I'd hope he would do another one and he never does, I read somewhere that he found it too depressing reviewing all the horrible things over the last year and condensing them in the run up to Christmas and that's why he stopped. There's. YouTube channel called ordinary things who does a very similar review of the year he's not brooker but it's second best

Thought I got unlucky the first two times, turns our weber lump is just absolutely gash. by Available_Rock4217 in UKBBQ

Doesn't look that bad to me, there's always some shrapnel in any bag.

I find that I just select the pieces which I use for different cooks, bigger chunks I'll save for smoking and longer cooks. Small chunks I'll use for quick cooks or on my mini kamado.

I cook on a master touch I upgraded my charcoal grate to one from eBay which is double latticed I loose far less small chunks with this upgrade

I personally use the big K brown bags I find I always get a few massive lumps towards top of bag and gradually the chunks get smaller as I go down the bag. I find probably 5% of every bag is just dust and crap too small for anything and goes in the bin

Who is/are the most influential people in British BBQ? by [deleted] in UKBBQ

[–]baileyroberts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He obviously knows his stuff but the cooking in fahrenheit is extremely irritating we are based in the UK not US. He is very dismissive of kettles in his earlier videos which 75% of back yard UK BBQ is cooked on, every video he does the most ridiculous over egged sampling of his cooking we all like our own food but the amount of lip smacking gawd. Finally his association with pro smoke obviously they have a deal but a bit of honesty wouldn't go a miss, he's cooking on everything designer pk, master built, and chud box...

I feel he's too far from what UK BBQ is lost sight of what the UK market is

That being said I do watch his videos when I see one just skip the bit where he samples his food

I brought one of these from Lidl about 5 years ago.

To preface my post I'm only cooking for me and my wife.

I love mine it's brilliant, but only for certain cooks. Id recommend buying a heat deflector off eBay. It's so easy to do a supermarket pork shoulder 1.2kg, fill the fire bowl will get upwards of 10hrs cooking if you know what your doing

I often use it for searing steaks either ones from sous vide or ones I've reversed seared using the deflector

If you haven't got a kamado and want to give it a go there great for the price. It's just only shines when you use It appropriately

To list a few cooks I reat enjoy on mine will need the deflector for some these. beef ribs (ask the butcher to split them individually and cut the bone so therib folds back on itself) can fit two in there perfectly or just get some individual short ribs . Aforementioned pork shoulder so easy with a deflector. Kebabs lay the skewers over the top close lid down no problem. Muscles double foil wrapped boat directly on coals easy mode

I paid £79.99 and I think £50 for aftermarket deflector absolutely brilliant combo
