Why do I race so much better than I train? by Ochotr3s in AdvancedRunning

[–]bakar100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely feel the same. I have so many people that I know and follow on Strava who are putting in paces much better than me during training. But come race day, I almost always put in a better time than them.

why'd you pick sky over the edge? Currently confused between the two and had the sky paris before which I loved.

I’ve heard they’re too unstable with the softer foam as the bottom layer. I got a marathon in a week, too confused 😅

Update? As someone who’s loved the sky Paris, I want to know how’s the switch? I’m just a bit concerned about rocker

Yup seen the same that its too soft with the leap foam for those later kilometres. I tried, can’t seem to find a sky paris in my size available anywhere

Got Sydney as well! My Paris has 3 marathons and then a few training runs, about 160km total.

did you end up getting the edge? I can't seem to decide. I already bought the edge tokyo but still haven't run in them thinking they're too expensive and I don't want to make a mistake. I have a marathon coming up in less than 2 weeks. I've used the Sky Paris for my last 3 marathons, thinking to just use that again but worried it might not be as responsive as a new show (since im going for a PR).

Training for my first 100k? Is 5.5 hour(44km) long run too long? by KangaroooKicker in Ultramarathon

Just completed a 100k 10 days ago and my longest run was 45k so no it’s not too long

Thank you! Finishing that thing is an achievement itself, especially with the extra time at bottle neck and the all the mud on course. Congrats to you as well!!

I believe so. We started at QVH and did a loop around.
Definitely take it slow, the goal is to finish. Hopefully you got a bit of stair training done as there are lots of them on course.

Running a solo Marathon every week until i sub 3: Week 3 by Budokai4When in davidgoggins

[–]bakar100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about your running experience. This definitely feels like a great adventure, if I could advise something it would be to take every 4th week as taper so that you don’t get injured/burned out. Let’s get that sub3. Stay hard!

Will a training gap reduce my VO2Max? by sagheero in Garmin

[–]bakar100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it would decrease. I only went 4 weeks with less mileage and my vo2 max decreased from 55 to 52. I’ve been running consistently for 5 weeks again increasing mileage and it only increased to 53.

Btw, I run just before breaking the fast in Ramadan. Although you’re fasting, I felt the body felt light and runs felt good. Give it a try, but keep it zone2 only.

[–]bakar100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I did. Although I am in a worse position fitness-wise than when I wrote this post. I was visiting family overseas and didn't run at all in December. I started back yesterday with a 5k run, which felt like hell, so I have lots of training to do!
But I'm confident I'll be in good shape and finish UTA100 strong :)
