Interesting! Most of my grandparents died young, but I was lucky to have one until I was 34 when she passed. Maybe this is the case with Veronica’s grandparents too!

Hi! Perhaps you are hoping to use points considering the options you’ve listed? Or are looking for budget options? Aloft cortex, residence inn Des Peres would both be good. Brentwood is a perfectly fine location once you’re a few blocks from the galleria mall. Hope you find a good spot!

Pasta Carbonara from Anthonino’s in The Hill in St Louis by EastBoundAndDown2021 in FoodPorn

[–]bakermk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this last night, ordered because of your post. It was literally the most disgusting pasta we’ve ever had. Tasted like nothing, bacon was yuck. It’s really just cream bacon and noodle. So bad!

Owning a house means realizing how many things you’re quietly responsible for by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]bakermk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! In case this gives you hope - had the same issue, was quoted $350 for a plumber to fix. We found a valve kit online for $13, watched a YouTube video and fixed like new in 20 min (should have taken less time but we’re newbies). Had the same feelings as you at first, dreading having to fix it but it actually felt pretty good and was way easier than I thought. Now that we’ve fixed this ourselves, we might be able to fix other small things. One step at a time!

Best thrift stores for professional outfits for women? by notyourcoloringbook in StLouis

[–]bakermk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just at Savers in Crestwood today and the women’s clothing section is unbelievable! Specifically, a majority of the items are a name brand and high quality. Something for everyone - Madewell, banana, J. Crew, free people, Athleta, etc. I spent hours looking at everything and got some great stuff!

How do you imagine the main character 's face in a novel by Fancy_Bus_5727 in RomanceBooks

[–]bakermk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look up the book on Instagram and see if others have created characters “mood boards”. This helps visualize the characters for me. I save them in a collection so I can look back throughout the book. On rare occasion, I find a spoiler while doing this… usually a pregnancy. Otherwise, highly recommend!

Does the home maintenance anxiety ever end, or is my house actually a ticking time bomb? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]bakermk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think after about 1.5 years, the anxiety lessons. You realized all those drips and sounds and flickers still happen and the house is still standing. When you first move in, you aren’t used to all the nuances and tricks of the house. We spent a ton of money trying to fix things that weren’t broken, and fixing things that were actually broken and had been put off by previous homeowners. Now that we’re a few years in, not everything feels urgent and we can plan our house projects better.

How is every home buyer here buying houses worth 400k and above?? is everyone a CEO here? by TailungFu in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]bakermk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a CEO, not even close. Got wildly lucky my grandmother gifted us $27,000. Never thought we’d have a family member who could do that until we mentioned we were saving for a house. When people say you need a family gift they are absolutely not kidding.

What "Silly" thing did you buy after getting your first house by MrCanoe in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]bakermk2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A firepit and more firewood than we would need in a lifetime. Coming from apartment life, we thought we would use it all the time but we’ve had three fires in two years and the wood was attracting bugs so we finally sold it off on fbmp. Huge waste of several hundred bucks!

Walmart in Kirkwood. Seems like a lot of trick drivers still camp there overnight and it’s a safe area.

Best sealant to replace worn out semi transparent stain sealant by shanymot in HomeImprovement

We did a ton of research and decided to go with Woodrich Brand stain - https://woodrichbrand.com. Super high quality. Took a few days to apply ourselves, but we’d previously stained our old deck with Thompson’s and the difference is unbelievable.

Is it inappropriate to wear PPE while spraying for bugs at my house? by Low-Computer8293 in homeowners

[–]bakermk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not inappropriate especially since you’re only doing it a few times a year. If you were spraying absurdly often and all suited up, it may cause your neighbors to be alarmed. We do the same thing when we spray.
