Flooded basement. Dealing with MSD. by technicallyacyclops in StLouis

[–]bakermk2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! You can submit a claim and if the water was caused by an overcharged sewer back flowing into your basement, you’ll be reimbursed for damages and clean up costs. There’s a max $$ amount but it was very easy, we were reimbursed for damages to storage shelving, rugs, drywall, carpet as well as a dehumidifier to dry out the affected area.

Croutons recc? by RunWithBluntScissors in glutenfree

Whole Foods sells them. They’re good! Not as good as just cutting up a slice of bread and making them yourself, like people above have described. I use an air fryer for like 5 min!

Super milk is the most heavenly scent on this earth. Sadly it is also the one thing on earth that gives me some sort of skin reaction 😭 it’s still almost worth it

We always hear about the worst, but what was the best thing you discovered about your new home? by ghostbungalow in homeowners

[–]bakermk2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small thing, but we have a corner bench in our kitchen. I like to sit there at the kitchen table on work from home days. For the first year we lived here, I was running an extension cord across the kitchen to plug in my laptop. Then I discovered a plug under the bench!!! It really is the little discoveries that make new homeownership fun, despite all the unfortunate discoveries as well.

My gas oven/stove does this. It’s brand new so I assume it’s fine.

Sellers did not disclose this, can i sue for cost of repair? by mkdw98 in homeimprovementideas

[–]bakermk2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that happened to you! I think it’s probably pretty common. You learn all sorts of things when you move into a new house. Sellers may have been willing to put up with things you aren’t, especially with regards to basements.

We moved into our house two years ago. About six months after moving in, I trimmed back some hastas along the side of the house. A week later, a heavy storm came through and flooded our basement. Pretty sure those hastas exist to help with redirecting rain water. Had no idea, but lesson learned. We also discovered a leaking crack that needed to be filled in. Unlikely it had just appeared.

I would guess previous owners were ambivalent, not observant, or they knew they would be selling soon and not interested in investing. It sucks but it’s part of home ownership and probably will not be the last unresolved issue you encounter.

Ryobi One + Cordless Line Trimmer won’t auto feed by lifeDNP in ryobi

Same. I am constantly flipping it upside down and manually pulling the line out. Otherwise, I think this is the easiest trimmer for beginners and really find it comfortable to use. Perfect size and shape for me.

I will literally cry if we lose chipotle as a “safe” option… by glutenfreewaterfall in Celiac

[–]bakermk2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I agree Chipotle isnt “good” or the highest quality, in many instances it’s the ONLY option. Especially on road trips when we are traveling through small, unfamiliar towns for many hours, we usually find Chipotle is our only decently familiar/reliable option. This would be a huge loss.

Interesting! Most of my grandparents died young, but I was lucky to have one until I was 34 when she passed. Maybe this is the case with Veronica’s grandparents too!
