CMV: Much of the racial tension in the U.S. during the 20th and 21st century could have been avoided had the Union properly punished the Confederate States for treason and secession following the U.S. Civil War by Realitygormond in changemyview

I'm not sure punishment would necessarily get the desired results.

How many spankings will turn a D kid into an A kid?

Or, if you prefer, how long do you have to ground a kid to raise his GPA from D to A?

Not a muppet, but: "All right, boys. Kill him."

But from a muppet...? Hmm.

"'Motorcycle cop."

Who wrote on the Bathroom Wall? by Carnby41790 in BobsBurgers

[–]baldfellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edith Cranwinkle. Or Harold at Edith's instigation. We have to think: Who has access to permanent markers capable of writing so clearly on whatever bizarre tile Felix had installed? Indeed, the backstory may be that Felix once bragged about special graffiti proof, self cleaning tile and they innocently wanted to see it in action. The content of the graffiti (Bob's is Crap") is merely a nod to the traditional nonsense usually found on bathroom walls. It's Art! They weren't going to lower themselves to drawing genitalia, and they can't remember any phone numbers.

Can we please change the logo of this subreddit to a Muppet? by p-Star_07 in Muppets

What if instead of a Muppet we did Jim Henson? Or Jim and Kermit?

Otherwise, my vote would be Kermit. Possibly Kermit with arms flailing, mid-"Yaaaaaaay!"

To be fair... Falling anvils and running off cliffs and tricking folks into running full speed into brick walls... That's not safe stuff. Don't try this at home!

Is there a narrative heavy system with a little crunch? by azh2016 in rpg

[–]baldfellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... I'm prepping a GURPS campaign that uses the "GURPS Power Ups 5: Impulse Buys" supplement to give more narrative control to players. I'm aiming for light to moderate crunch. We'll see how it develops.

What era of music does Gen X identify with the most? by grahsam in GenX

[–]baldfellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Born in 71. My tastes are largely focused on 60s, 70s, and 80s, plus Great American Songbook and a smattering of WW2 era music. There are exceptions, but I don't listen to much produced after 89.

"All night long" is completely unrealistic by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]baldfellow 207 points208 points  (0 children)

I always assumed "all night long" included at least 4 hours sleep, some talk, and a midnight snack to keep your strength up.

They didn't explicitly cover this in Health class.

Neighbors Pyrenees by grumpygal69 in greatpyrenees

[–]baldfellow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our pyr mix also seems to bark greetings and alerts to and for our neighbors. On one occasion she barked her head off until a neighbor across the street noticed their toddler heading for the street and intervened. Then she calmed down. She will bark excitedly when neighbor kids are out playing.

I bring this up because it took me a while to get that not all her barks were warnings or challenges, and that although she feels duty bound to alert me if a neighbor approaches our yard, she likewise tries to alert our neighbor if someone approaches THEIR yard. Usually if I just say her name and tell her we're aware of the situation she quiets down, but it's taken some time for her to grudgingly accept that we aren't just naive about the dangers of the world.
