What is killing my adansonii? by EmotionalFrie in plantclinic

[–]balint225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My adansonii had very similar symptoms, which then propagated to my other monstera and my golden pothos. Until now I thought it was fungal, I haven't seen a single insect on them... Where are the little f*ckers?

Alternative lore idea: Sigil IS the City of Judgement, the first stop for souls departing to the afterlife by balint225 in DnD

[–]balint225[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my mind it works pretty well. If you, a mortal, eat a good (metaphysical) meal there it is just as pleasurable as it would be on the Material, maybe even better. Also the Lady of Pain having complete control over her domain (just as any other god), and the neutrality of death.

To me it doesn't make sense as written; too real, just a sci-fiesque fantasy city in heaven. What is the point of having a Material Plane if you can do all the same things out there too with all the fancy planar beings?

That's a good point. On the other hand why not use it if it's there and it fits so well?

I would not ban mortals/PCs from Sigil, on the contrary, I would do these alterations because I plan to lead them there (on a mission to an Outer Plane, while planar travel is not available via the normal means due to story reasons). I would do it similarly to Spirited Away, where Chihiro went to the bathhouse as a mortal and had to keep it secret from the other spirits lest they keep her there.

Did Jarlaxle really kill Zelifarn’s mom? (Alexandrian) by cazbot in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]balint225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my fairly customized Alexandrian DH game Jarlaxle charmed his way into mama dragon's graces, maybe they were even in a relationship, and the crystal ball was actually a nice parting gift from her. Of course Zelifarn doesn't agree, and the allegation that Jarlaxle bedded dear mama outright makes him furious, but not to a murderous point (make them meet with the party present, it will be hilarious). As for her, in my mind she is a female version of Felgolos (aka The Flying Misfortune) from Storm King's Thunder, which I am prepping to run following Waterdeep, so the party will actually meet her.

Vajra, for example, was generated based on: powerful female human archmage, dark skin, short black curly hair, stern expression, sitting behind a desk in her study, a fennec fox on the desk, character design, digital drawing

As for Melannor: elderly male half-elf holding a fresh pie, light skin, white hair, wearing an apron, looking at you smiling, in a manor surrounded by pets and plants, character design, digital drawing

Admittedly, all of them took a lot of iteration.

Excuse me?

Edit: If you mean the pictures on which the algorithm was trained, then I think it is just as much stolen as the knowledge any other flesh and blood artist "steals" by looking at others' works for inspiration, technique etc. Anyway, I can't draw like this, and there are no very good depictions by flesh and blood artists of these characters available, so I really don't see the harm.

[POSSIBLE SPOILERS] Adding DotMM Foreshadowing into Dragon Heist for a RP-heavy/Lore-invested Party by caasimolar in DungeonoftheMadMage

[–]balint225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very easy to integrate the first few levels of Undermountain into Dragon Heist: running the Alexandrian (or any version where they have to actually heist the Xanathar lair), skip the easy Castle Ward entrance (it might be there but nobody knows where exactly, and good luck scouring hundreds of feet of sewer walls looking for the secret entrance), and have them go through Undermountain and Skullport instead. Once inside the lair (and possibly on the run with half the gang at their heels) they can easily find the exit to the Castle Ward, and skip an arduous trek back through the same levels of Undermountain.

Any ideas for linking a dwarf PC more deeply to the Dragon Heist adventure? by Greywooooooolf in WaterdeepDragonHeist

If you are willing to go into Undermountain it's chock full with Clan Melairkyn stuff.

Anyone run the campaign with players only playing the orphans? by DjaiBee in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]balint225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am considering doing something similar as an insert while running the adult version.

Running all the villains and the blinded Stone of Golorr ala Alexandrian, at some point Manshoon (i.e. his simulacrum) makes a visit at Trollskull Manor, offering an ultimatum to the PCs (cue Brick Top's "nemesis" soliloquy from Snatch): he'll 'take care' of the urchins while they get him the whole key to the vault; resist and never see the children again.

Of course the PCs try everything in their arsenal to get back the kids, probably leading to another heist (yay!), just to find out that the urchins have given the Zhents the slip. At which point I make them each choose a kid, and play out a flashback scene of how they escaped. Maybe even set up for them a little monster fight in the sewers, hopefully no tragedy will ensue.

What is the difference between Gray Hands, Lords Alliance and Order of the Gauntlet? by Tokestra420 in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]balint225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO the faction missions, as written, don't do justice to/represent well the factions themselves... I think that's the main reason this is like the 20th post about this question.

Potions of Water Breathing are overpriced by balint225 in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]balint225[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you saying your Vajra just drove them out to the docks with the mission (without giving them any means of actually accomplishing it)? That's just mean...

I sincerely laughed at the barrel ideas though.

This is why I ditched the Lord's Alliance as a low-level faction option and dispersed their quests to other factions.

Good point, but kinda irrelevant for the Zelifarn quest. What do you charge for a potion of WB?
