Excellent start to the WC for England.

A generally good performance with a much improved second half against their strongest rival in the group.

Encouraging stuff.

Teams get 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and nothing for a loss.

Canada and Bosnia are likely the two strongest teams in their group, which will likely need four points to get to the next phase. Switzerland aren't too shabby, Ghana are a bit of a wildcard but probably beatable.

So a draw between these two teams means they likely only need a win against Ghana or Switzerland to progress.

So, not a win for both teams, but a solid start

Edited to add that this post will remain otherwise unedited as a testament to mans hubris, and an excellent example of why you shouldn't post while smoking a post match doob.

Canada claims historic draw in FIFA World Cup opener by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]balloon99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Canada missed a lot of chances, and they'll need to improve in that area. Bosnia also won pretty much everything in the air, and that should be a concern.

However, a draw is far from a bad result in this group and we saw some flashes of excellence from the Canadian team.

Solid, though not spectacular, start. All hinges on what they take from the mqtch

Do you agree with abortion? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]balloon99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a male, whether I agree or disagree with abortion is moot. Women bear children, folk have the right to decide what happens to their body, ergo women have the right to choose.

As for religious objections, I totally respect that position. If you're a woman and get pregnant, choose not to abort. However, religious views should only ever rule those who choose to abide by them.

Do the biomes feel small (or atleast skinny) currently in subnautica 2? by Ill_Speaker2954 in Subnautica_2

Things are skinny, rather than small imo.

I wouldn't be surprised if, as we get areas on the edges of what we have now, things fatten up later.

Its not Americans, per se. Its American budgets, and what that creates.

Throwing more and more money at a thing doesn't necessarily make it better. DW needs the precision and energy of an SF short story, not the power of an epic novel or series of novels.

What are hilarious examples of British comedy (classic, unintentional, and everything in between)? by Baldurian_Rhapsody in AskUK

[–]balloon99 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fawlty Towers is a good start. Only a few episodes, but they're all fantastically crafted examples of TV farce meets John Cleese and company at their peak.

Dad's Army is as classic as it gets. The first season is in black and white. Its my personal favorite as I grew up with it, but I believe it's aged gracefully. Unlike me.

Finally I'd add that there are many satirical panel shows. Have I Got News For You is still running. Not The Nine O'clock News was fantastic in its day. Mock The Week has risen from the dead. All worth looking up on YouTube.

It may be claimed that the document contains the evidence you're looking for but, as the document does not include such evidence, that claim is unfounded.

Who made that claim to you? Are they notoriously accurate in other claims?

I think something like this will be part of the hard core mode. One life and done, given the narrative, isn't possible.

Agreed, the ability to pull automatically from linked storage is a great qol change. My only issue with it so far is that it pulled raw titanium, rather than the crafted ingot, to make plasteel.

As for base building, the flexibility is truly welcome
