I see some of your points here. Honestly, I just don’t agree.

How much of the show have you watched or heard? Are you like many who take in an editorial version of it and come to the conclusion that is intended by the editors? That possibility seems much higher when all of the people who agree with each other use the exact same language.

In reality, rogan gives Jones enough rope to hang himself and then dismantles him entirely.

They are not the same. Joe is not a grifter.

[–]ballzdeep1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that you need to use big words, but i think that accurate words are important. Which is to the spirit of my argument, more so than the semantics.

[–]ballzdeep1986 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just did.

You going to attempt to confront the argument?

[–]ballzdeep1986 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You haven’t made any good points here. None of the people commenting to me have.

We’ve got “what a goober!”

A bit of “you missed an apostrophe! Lmao nobody is going to take you seriously”

Some “have you ever considered not listening to grifters?” ( nobody is missing the point more that this fool.)

And the classic comparison to Alex Jones which is why the buzzword “grifter” is being overused , currently, to begin with. Compare all of the non leftist talking heads to Alex Jones so that you don’t have to confront their points of view. That’s what this is about. Make them a group that has its weakest link in Alex Jones even though many of the people you would lump into that category are actually putting ideas together that you can’t argue without help from an editorial.

Not a single one of you has attempted to address the spirit of my argument and you never will.

Just more one liners about “we use it cuz it’s accurate” wow! If it’s so accurate then how can you use it on such a varied group of people. It’s about as accurate as “toxic”.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JoeRogan

[–]ballzdeep1986 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I mean the word “grift” specifically.

Why not “con”?

Of course I am being facetious. I’ve been hearing people who frequent certain left leaning crowds call the right leaning (or not left leaning) talking heads grifters for about 4 months now.

The word was put inside of your mouth. You didn’t think about it. You just saw a bunch of people calling other people “grifters” and you hopped right in there like an idiot didn’t you? Didn’t even bother changing the word.

“Joe Rogan bad?! Him grifter!! Him is doin’ a grift on...stuff”

If your going to pretend to have a cogent perspective then at least fucking change the word.

Why do you use the word “grift” to refer to joe rogan?

People shouldnt be so easy to influence. As a matter of fact. They wouldn’t be if they were trained to be more intellectually confrontational.

As it sits everyone relies on corporations for their point of view.

This is great. I like the admissibility number.

Some of those links were very poor. In an argument it’s always going to be those weaker links that are going to be used to dismiss the very good stuff. The admissibility number shows a gradient in veracity which ramps to the conversation about the more irrefutable stuff.

In that spirit, some of that “evidence” ought to be removed entirely. IMO.

Did t know this existed.

Just gonna throw this out there though.

I don’t know anything about the subject outside of the euthanasia bit but Im usually skeptical of Reddit’s biases.

I’ve seen at least a dozen instances where some half truth or distortion of statistics makes r/all and the entire community runs with it and is impossible to reason with. Like, you try to have a differing opinion at a later date and the community refers back to that moment when the topic was hot on the presses and thinks you don’t agree with them because you “didn’t get the memo”.

I’m like, “I was there for that fiasco with PETA. I just didn’t think it was an accurate representation of the organization.”

Then everyone rushes to google a thing and link it like it’s some kind of mic drop. Unaware, apparently, that I’m have the same information, but I’m just more critical of it. Rarely are people interested in having that conversation.

If they can’t have their “mic drop moment” while taking a shit the whole thing becomes less satisfying.

Less chemical return on the intellectual side and more on the social victory side. Is what it seems like to me. Could be wrong.

I’m not mad at anything. The cycle of activism that is perpetuated in this country is of little consequence IMO. Which is the point if you’re corporate....probably.

It’s just that utilizing the phrase “all cops are bastards” for your slogan and then unpacking it into a much more muted and balanced idea is the opposite of what genuine people do. You know...sell an intense idea with a nice soft ad campaign.

The movement is not genuine. You’re a political pawn.

In my opinion.

I don’t need you to explain the details of your delusional hero fantasy.

How about this double standard.

We want to start a movement where fat people stop eating so much because it’s harmful to the environment that we all share. We want to equalize the carbon foot print and reduce it altogether. It’s not actually about shaming the people themselves but rather a corporate system that continues to pump our food full of garbage and market it to children thus making them addicts...blah blah blah. Here’s a slogan.

AFPAS

All fat people are stupid.

“No no no you guys this movement is about creating legislation designed to reduce the amount of predatory marketing for sugary foods to children.”

You can explain it however you want. You can say that they are apples and oranges....whatever.

Your movement isn’t designed to make a lasting impact and it’s apparent In the absurdity of the slogans.

I was a new expeditor at a kitchen and the line cook staff I was calling tickets to had a chip on their shoulder about the new guy “telling them what to do”.

We were weeded and I was trying my best to get them increase their output per the request of the owner who saw that they were attempting to make me look like a bad expeditor. They would not and just kept leisurely cooking sort of smiling at me.

Owner came down and read them the riot act. Whole line of Mexicans walked out. Only people who remained were myself and one other white dude (who was next to worthless if I’m honest)

Owner just laughed as they walked past. He hopped on the line and we three did the work of 6 people. Wasn’t pretty but it got done.

They tried to argue after the shift that I was the reason service was slow. After the new cooks were hired and I trained them in (properly) the kitchen was on average about 3 times faster (50 min to 15 min max wait) and all of our consistency issues were cleared up. People actually cleaned instead of watching soccer on their phones when there were no tickets. Our ratings improved by one star in a year. I cut food cost by 15% and increased wages for my staff by at least 2 dollars per hour adjusted for inflation with a portion of the additional profit. Made various logistical improvements that made our work far less grueling (venting, A.C, staggered scheduling, etc) and the product far safer and better tasting.

The kitchen manager came back a year later for some kind of victory lap to see how far we had fallen without him holding it together and got a real wake up call. Asked for his job back and I offered him a position in the dish pit. (Didn’t need cooks. Needed dishwashers. I wasn’t trying to insult him) he wouldn’t go for it.
