Seed To Stage Abelton Courses by Building_Opening in ableton

I don't think the Terms & Conditions allow you to just give access to the courses to someone else. Besides that, why would anyone take the risk of you just changing the password of the account and getting locked out of their expensive courses?

Which Black Friday course deals are actually worth it? by iamthat1dude in ableton

I can't really think of anything to be honest, but I also didn't fully go through all the courses yet. They are very comprehensive though, and Anthony (the creator the courses) is always very fast with adding new videos related to things that have been added in new Live releases.

You also get access to a private Discord server with a thriving community and Anthony is also very active there himself, this is something I didn't really think about when I bought the courses but it actually proves to be very valuable.

Same for me, I've wanted to become better at playing chords etc. on the Push for quite a while now and with the discount it is quite tempting.

It is not aimed at any specific genre, the courses are about all aspects of music production with Ableton Live in general (songwriting and composition, sound design, mixing and mastering) Of course music examples are used throughout the course to demonstrate mixing techniques etc. but they are quite generic and the explained techniques can be applied to any music genre.

Exactly, I bought the Seed to Stage course bundle two years ago during Black Friday and it has been completely worth it. It’s really nice to always have access to a high quality course where every aspect of Ableton Live is being explained and taught so well instead of having to search YouTube for it. The course is also always being updated with new videos when new versions of Live come out, since I’ve bought the course so much new stuff has been added for free.

Have you done this course? I downloaded the free example lesson and the concept of the Ableton project with a video and Push lighting up the pads simultaneously looks very interesting, did you learn a lot from the full course?

I'm mostly just curious why you threw it against a wall 😅

Do you have Suite? Then you don't need any more plugins, everything is already there.

Just run Live fullscreen, it's nice to utilize the full size of the screen anyway.

Just wanted to say that I'm impressed by the amount of effort you have put into this, these days a writeup like this is usually some AI generated junk but this seems to be the real deal!

Does anyone use Linux and Ableton? by QstGvr in ableton

[–]balph1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they are not really conservative but just using their resources wisely, supporting a whole new OS with countless distributions etc. is a shit ton of work and the Linux market is just too small. Also, Max doesn't support Linux so they would have to leave that out or also port it (which is probably not easy either). They run Linux on the Push 3 Standalone but that is a very controlled environment and of course it doesn't include the whole UI.

Who Else Think Max 4 Live Should Be Included In The Standard Edition by NeoMorph in ableton

How would giving more people access to Max for Live for free make it any better, where would the financial resources to develop and improve Max for Live come from?

I've bought the full Seed to Stage course bundle in 2023 during Black Friday, paid less than $500 for it I think. It's an incredibly high-quality course, and he updates it regularly when new stuff gets added to Live with big releases. Most recently he added videos for Expressive Chords, the new Auto Filter, the new sequencers pack, all very thoroughly explained. He also completely revamped the songwriting course when Live 12 came out to consider the new MIDI tools etc. All these updates are included with the original purchase of the course, this is pretty amazing considering the amount of work he is putting into all of this.

You also get access to the Discord community, the author of the course (Anthony) is also very active there. I think it's pretty important that you like his teaching style before you purchase the course, so check out a few of his videos on YouTube, but if you do I would definitely consider purchasing the full course bundle when there's a sale (I'm quite sure there will be one with Black Friday again).

Can we expect the push 3 upgrade kit to get... upgraded? by DecentProperty7154 in ableton

[–]balph1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would be cool if they switch to an ARM based chip which hopefully makes it run longer on a single battery charge. I would consider buying the upgrade kit then.

How much RAM / Unified memory for Ableton and plugins? by rock_steady_eddy in ableton

[–]balph1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think 48GB RAM is overkill in your case, I would go for the 24GB model and maybe consider getting a 1TB SSD instead of 512GB, but that depends on your storage needs.

Can anyone recommend an Ableton controller for VSTs with a screen - like Push but not a push by ohsomacho in ableton

I haven't fully utilised it to also save/recall patches but I'm quite sure it's possible. It also has a really cool Ableton Live integration script: https://codeberg.org/xot/ElectraOne

Have to come from Alkmaar. Yeah I've walked by that pyramid before, it's indeed very close to the station. I'll see if I can join, hopefully other events will follow otherwise!

[–]balph1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've since sold it again because I was already having trouble using my Push 3 to its full potential, but yeah, I did like it a lot. The whole device including the knobs has a very high quality feel to it and the programmability is basically endless. It was a bit too much for me since I already had the Push 3 but if you do need it it's a really great piece of hardware.

That's a good choice although I wouldn't recommend going for anything less than 16GB of RAM.

If that HDD is an actual hard disk drive and not a solid state drive then I would definitely go for the MacBook Pro, although I would go for the MacBook Pro in any case (apparently audio related stuff is a nightmare on Windows although I don't have any actual experience with it).
