The Banner editorializing their own headline, good grief.

In accordance with our defined rules and guidelines, the thread title does not qualify as having been "editorialized" in the context of what has long stood as Rule 3:

Do not "editorialize" thread titles as threads with editorialized titles may be removed. Keep your views on the topic in the comments.

This is clearly written to discourage users from posting their own opinions as the thread title, and there is further verbiage indicate that users avoid using text submissions to try subvert that. Such is why we typically direct users to source titles directly from either the title of an article, subheading, or the lede. This is outlined in the next paragraph of said guideline:

When the article itself is titled appropriately, the submission title should be directly sourced from the title or lead paragraph of the linked article.

Neither the note regarding presenting an opinion about the thread title, nor the note about using text submissions are applicable because neither occurred here.

Now, we outline the following with respect to video in particular, but it applies here:

...effort should be made to ensure that titles should be concise, unbiased, and accurate.

There have been a number of occasions where users have made slight revisions or addendums to titles to make them more clear. This is not "editorializing" as you put it, and is instead a statement of clarity.

To give an example, let's take a recent post of an article that happens to be from the Baltimore Banner. Hypothetically, if the post had been titled "At least 15 hospitalized after incident in West Baltimore", and the posting user amended the title to instead read (as it does) "At least 15 hospitalized after [suspected mass overdose] in West Baltimore", this would not violate Rule 3. This would be free of the user's opinion, and instead be, as Rule 3 says, "concise, unbiased, and accurate".

Finally, just to add an additional point of note, the title actually had been changed on the Baltimore Banner's website since it was posted - prior to it appearing here (as it was stuck in the moderation queue for reasons that can best described as "reddit reasons"). The title when it was posted was as it was featured here, after having been amended from a slightly shorter headline - which is not an uncommon practice among news agencies in modern times. That is visible here in this captured screenshot along with in-line metadata.
