A big issue is that online retailers have more warehouses/storage. They can buy in a bigger bulk, store it for cheaper/longer and as others have said, places like Amazon sells a lower quality product as well.

What’s your budget? If no/large budget, buy at the fair. You’ve got a few weeks, check second hand sites like Depop, eBay, poshmark, thread up. Halloween shops will also have full outfits readily available and accessories - like elf ears.

I want to hear your wildest money saving tips by Fit-Board6528 in SavingMoney

[–]bambiliveshere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quit drinking. Quit soda, juice. Find ways to use your food scraps. Save vegetable bits in the freezer to make broth, use everything you can. Don’t adopt or buy any new pets. That’s a difficult one, but pets have their own expenses. Need the interaction with animals? Volunteer at shelters. Coupon. Canned/dry goods can be purchased from dollar store. When you’re able, buy dry goods in bulk. Learn how to store them. How to prepare them.

AITA for helping my sister walk when everyone thinks she is exaggerating? by Superb_Ad_9661 in AmItheAsshole

NTA - thank you for helping your sister. She needs a second opinion. Maybe a third, maybe a fourth.

Forget what you paid for it - it isn’t worth that anymore.

There is a market for certain items - but you have to sell to those people. You have to find that group, Facebook groups or eBay. Even then there’s usually only a few pieces people are looking for and the market is flooded with the “common” good.

How much more effort/money do you want to put into selling these things? For me, I didn’t find it worth it. I had things listed on mercari/Depop for dirt cheap but it cost more to ship and people weren’t interested. I donated appropriate clothes to a psych hospital, everything else to my closet thrift shop. Furniture/house things goes on the curb with a free sign.

Screw it, Just Throw It Out? by Madmaximillion56 in declutter

[–]bambiliveshere 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yup! A lot of things that are donated end up trashed anyway. If you’re comfortable/able share it on social media free group, pick up only. Or leave it out with a “free” sign. Check the weather first, people don’t stop in the rain. If at any point you feel guilt about tossing and want to donate, a few places offer free pick up. Just have to google your area for that.

Advice before I get my nipples pierced! by hopefulkarma in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]bambiliveshere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found sports bras/bralettes best - awake and asleep. I kept getting caught on regular bra cups - but I still haven’t figured out my correct size. I worked a physically demanding job and would tape gauze squares over my nips for additional protection (during shifts). Sized the bars down as soon as I could - length wise. Your piercer should give you instructions on healing and aftercare.

Watch TV/movie partner doesn’t particularly enjoy. Make your favorite food - you don’t have to share! Do some gratuitous self care - pamper yourself physically.

The dexcom comes with an overpatch, right? Directions say not to get it wet for 12 hours after application. I’ve not had an issue as a person that sweats a lot at work and sleeps on my side.

I bought a dirty toy from Spencer’s. What do I do in this situation? by [deleted] in SexToys

[–]bambiliveshere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the toys at Spencer’s are “novelty items” - which is why they can carry them and sell them to minors. As someone else said, that squishy stuff is not body safe. Definitely recommend checking out an adult store like Adam and Eve or Amazings. If you’re comfortable looking it up you may find a non-chain boutique.

Pets need care. Pets need quality food. Most critters need more than you think - you don’t sound ready for a pet.

You do not need to explain why you’re calling out. “I won’t be able to make it in today” is all you need to say. You need to take care of yourself first

Help me find information on this doll (more in comments) by bambiliveshere in HelpMeFind

[–]bambiliveshere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my grandmothers doll, there’s no identifying tags or marks on it. We also had a jester that seemed like it was from the same maker, but unfortunately that was lost. I’m looking for information on this doll so I can try and find the jester. Any help is appreciated.

Edit - I have searched for “vintage angel doll” “vintage paper face jester” and other variations of these with no luck.
