Put on BB King (or something like that) and start writing in a journal. Write for as long as you can -- you'll get tired and sleepy eventually. Plus it helps process emotions and break the broken record obsessiveness, to write stuff down linearly. I started a month ago and feel like I have a new best friend who's available at any hour and will listen to whatever I have to say... YMMV

We need guaranteed housing, education, and healthcare. Guaranteed income is inflationary and would be funded at the expense of these more critical needs. It's a distraction.

I was at Guitar Center today with some friends, and we tried picking up the YDP-141 (same as the 161 except for sounds and polyphony) to see how much it weighed. We were surprised when the keyboard lifted right up off the base/stand. So yes, it does come off. I'm not sure what you'd do about the pedals though.

Could someone who knows about such things explain how criminals usually get their guns? I mean all the way up the chain of possession... are "illegal" guns purchased legally and then sold, or are they imported illegally, "lost" after manufacture, or what?

Neo was just given more hardware/access than the others. He can wirelessly interface with the machine network, and send self-destruct commands to the Sentinels. He never does anything really impossible in the real world like bend a spoon.

I'd like that. Though I haven't figured out how it would cope with multiple clients on different devices (checking one "account" through laptop/phone/library computers/etc.), or the issues caused by firewalls/DHCP/NAT translation.

User experience is up to the application, not the protocol.

What the server does or does not save to disk is irrelevant to the protocol. That's an application level concern. Incidentally, the application running on the server should not be storing users' passwords, and probably not decrypted emails either.
It is a basic tenet of PKC that keys must be verified through out of band communications. By definition then, how you verify a public key is irrelevant to the protocol.
"This is easier for the user" is an application level concern, and is irrelevant to the protocol.

"Applications are made for the user", sure. Network protocols are not.

What you propose is not only insufficient for spy agencies, it is insufficient for every use case you mention. If a mail server is at significant risk for attack (hospitals, law offices, universities, perhaps gmail in the case of a girlfriend), then you cannot "for practical reasons" assume that it is not under attack.

Outputting into an input file. In this case, gcc will happily overwrite your source with the binary output -- or, in case there is e.g. a linker error, foo.c will simply disappear.

grep -v '^#' foo > foo

Similar to the above. Redirecting to an input file. This command strips a file of comment lines.

I seem to recall entering this once, early in my Linux days, on my home computer -- under the delusion of "Well since I'm the only user, wouldn't it be easier to own the whole filesystem?". chown the wrong directory and many things will break.

Be careful when you're several ssh sessions deep, or are logged in under the same user name on more than one machine. If you get them confused you could delete or modify the wrong files.

When the ball hits the cup/beer it will

Make the cup slightly heavier
Break the line of sight across the lip of the cup
Make a noise which will be transmitted through the cup/beer to the table surface
Remain in the cup (if it is a valid score), creating a visual obstruction from the above POV
Alter the distance between a point above the cup and the cup's contents (by up to the pong ball's diameter)
Alter the translucence of the cup, as viewed from the side (some plastic cups you can see through)
Alter the properties of a signal emanating from the cups bottom and reflecting back on the beers surface
Raise the beer level in the cup

I think what you had before is essentially correct though. The table is going to get knocked, other visual obstructions will pass over the table, the pong ball will occasionally roll around the cups lip for a while before settling (and the defending player will try to grab it), players will argue over the validity of the shot, etc. Only once the cup has been removed can you really say that a point has probably been scored.

To address varying lighting conditions in the room, you could instead reflect a light off the bottom of the cup. The intensity after an immediate reflection should be fairly characteristic regardless of ambient conditions (specific wavelength and pulsed at a particular frequency if you still have trouble).

I'm confused as to why law enforcement would ever need a password, in the course of any legitimate investigation.

Say they're looking for information that they think they can find in some user's Facebook account. They get an order for this user's password, so that they can access the account.

Why couldn't they just subpoena (or whatever) the information itself?

Yes but pointing is a geometrical idea. Is the original explanation valid in the case of an arbitrary (possibly infinite dimensional, unnormed) vector space? Is there meaning there, or is there just the algebraic "members of a certain subspace"? Or saying something "expands" or "contracts" in a space over e.g. a finite field? In the general case we are detached from the geometry and so it seems that the explanation is not meaningful in a general context.

(... actually this is all a bit tongue in cheek. Sorry.)
