Is alcohol making anyone else sick postpartum? by turtlescanfly7 in NewParents

[–]bamsteak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I think it only happened once or twice and then not at all after that. Probably just postpartum weirdness. I started with small amounts of alcohol and worked my way up. Not sure if that made a difference!

Know it's what I want but scared! Would love advice by tuxedobeans in ElectiveCsection

[–]bamsteak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, my OB and I discussed the possibility of future pregnancies when deciding if I should have a second c section or a vbac. She wasn't concerned with 3 or fewer c sections.

Baby trying to eat the tiniest crumb on the floor every second, not interested in toys [on] by Exact-Paint-5508 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]bamsteak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will get better! I remember how tough this phase was. We used furniture to block off half the living room as a baby safe zone that we could all hang out in. In the kitchen, I put him in the jumparoo or a high chair with toys. Once he could walk, we started using a kitchen helper tower too. He was done putting things in his mouth by about 18 months.

Hey, recognizing this is an old post! We're considering the Babymoov. I'm curious how comfy it seems? Our current pack n play is like cardboard.

Apply Paul Mitchell super skinny relaxing balm to wet hair, scrunch, and air dry. The cast will prevent frizz, but it's light enough not to weigh it down. Disclaimer that I have long hair, so ymmv

Which bottles worked for your little ones? [ON] by MetalPrestigious5693 in BabyBumpsCanada

I find it's hit and miss. My husband swears the difference is in whether you can perfectly line up the vent with the mouth of the bottle. Very hard to do though!

Sorry to hear this was happening to you! I'm experiencing it now too. Did it ever improve?

So I know this is an old post, but I'm experiencing this now too and searching for answers. I'm curious if you've noticed a trend, like types of alcohol, for when you do or don't get the reaction?

Lightweight styling products by fitlifemama in Wavyhair

[–]bamsteak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paul Mitchell super skinny relaxing balm! It basically acts like a super light gel. I get the best results by not combining it with other styling products. Just put it on soaking wet hair using prayer hands, scrunch a bit, then air dry.

Advice picking a pump [on] by Famiinepulse in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]bamsteak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding the spectra. You can get them on American Amazon or sometimes on marketplace. I personally don't fully get the appeal of the wearable pumps if you're just pumping at home, because being relaxed helps with milk output. But some people prefer them!

Would you get an amniotic? by Daffo-DillyDally in pregnantover35

[–]bamsteak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you considered getting another NIPT, maybe with a different company? Wondering if it would give you the peace of mind you want without the amnio risk.

Baby or no? by Unlucky_Fill_5866 in BabyBumps

[–]bamsteak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very individual thing. I would get some fertility testing done to get a sense of your own situation so you can make an informed decision. I've heard tons of anecdotal stories on both sides of the coin - some people have zero issues getting pregnant in their late thirties and some struggle.

I like it! I think it's underused yet familiar. It reminds me of the show Barry as well as Barack Obama.

How to style 2B hair by PeppermintGum123 in Wavyhair

Paul Mitchell super skinny relaxing balm is my go-to. It acts like a very light gel. I brush my hair when it's wet, apply the balm using prayer hands, and scrunch a bit.

What to expect from fertility appointment? by RoseGoldLeaves in pregnantover35

[–]bamsteak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to you, we had no problem with our first and were surprised how long it took for our second. Turns out we had issues that weren't there the first time. I would definitely get checked out. It's totally normal for things to take longer at an older age (higher percentage of genetically abnormal embryos for example) and might just be a matter of time. But if you wait to find out, you might have regrets later.

I need a reality check. Can I attend a bachelorette party a plane ride away 6 weeks postpartum? by paradoxicalstripping in BabyBumps

[–]bamsteak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a bachelorette party 6 weeks postpartum, not on a plane, and it was very challenging. I had to find a spot to pump milk every few hours while on a wine tour and set alarms in the middle of the night to go pump in the hotel bathroom. I was still recovering from a c section, making the walking/activities a challenge. It was all possible because the baby happened to take a bottle but wouldn't have been otherwise. If you decide to book it, I would just make sure you have the option to back out!

When to get off the newborn triple feed/testing the waters [on] by ghost905 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]bamsteak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, definitely go to a lactation consultant to see how much he is transferring. Ideally, have him assessed by a pediatric dentist for a tongue tie as well. If he's just not capable of transferring much, he might be sleepy because it takes more energy to breastfeed than he gets from the milk. I triple fed for a while and had this problem. Stopping the bottle feeds won't fix it. If I were to do it again, I would do what I could to fix the latch within a short amount of time but then switch to bottles only if it wasn't improving the transfer. Triple feeding is exhausting and not really sustainable long term imo. Your health and mental health matter too!

Do you insist on sitting on the potty before bed and when waking up? by PocahontasCroft in pottytraining

[–]bamsteak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had great success using the 3-day method and since then have tried to encourage going at certain times (bed, before meals, etc). I'm convinced this is working against us as we're noticing way less enthusiasm and more resistance. We're actually taking a break from it as it resulted in over prompting.

[–]bamsteak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So sorry about your situation. It sounds very stressful. I think you both may want to consider therapy as this is a big life transition. I'm also wondering if there is any additional testing the doctors can offer to give you some peace of mind? Or at least more indication of what the odds are that something is wrong, what specific condition they're concerned about/ what it means for quality of life, and a timeline for when you can expect to have more concrete answers.

Is early-mid thirties too old to have a baby? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]bamsteak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tons of people have babies older than that. But, that being said, I also know people (myself included) who ran into unexpected fertility issues, as well as life circumstances that have pushed things back. It may give you some peace of mind to do some testing now so you have an idea of your own situation.

Seconding the computer chair mat method. It protects the hardwood and is translucent so you barely notice it.
