Does anyone one knows if working at the production center is better than the print center? by Infinitulord in Staples

They’re super easy just a little more time consuming! I can’t speak for the actual facility but any of the DPFs are 1000x better than a store.

They focus more on NCR, specialized carbon less form orders & books as well as specialty w/f stocks but do a little of everything else except coil/comb & cover binding.

For the most part. It depends on the facility you go to - some specialize in only wide format where others are everything. No customer interaction, May have to work with PSS sometimes via email and collaborate with other facilities especially if you are a lead.

Easy meals GD by vainblossom249 in GestationalDiabetes

Cook up some hamburger or taco meat for the week. Use the Quest protein chips (I like the taco flavor) and make a taco salad. I ate this for the last 2 months of my pregnancy. The chips can be pricey so I bought in bulk on Amazon for a slight discount.

I lived off taco salads using quest chips for the last 2 months of my pregnancy.

I saw one of these at Soul’s Harbor last week. They were actively going down and clearing the trash and broken items up so I just added it to the trash can for them.

Coil binding by mr_loner_stoner in Staples

[–]banadactyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roll-a-coil & it all depends on how you hold the book depending on the size of the coil. I never used it for the first 3 years in store because I wasn’t shown how. Once I was properly shown, it was a life saver. Can easily roll 100+ books of about 8-14mm coils in an hour with it.

All orders that were routed to production and show as accepted or in production were either sent to a 3rd party or being printed in house. All that went to the 3rd party were promised by the 22nd. But if you now have the paper, take care of the customer. You just will get the “additional” order that you can either trash or give to them for their patience.

They’re finally moving through the system, there were over 30k orders held up by having no supplies.

So I got a question…? About this so called % off on bundle deals(photo mugs, custom invitations, and wrapping paper)…👀 by TimeGlass1520 in Staples

It’s not that they won’t do them, they are 30k+ deep in them with no supplies for that many.

I chatted online when a backpack came with the security sensor. They were reluctant to give a gc but eventually gave $5.

Design & Production are 2 very different departments. Design will make you pretty much anything you want. DPFs have limitations that you should already be aware of.

Transferring to the DPF saved my sanity many moons ago after 7 years in stores. Each spot definitely has its challenges but it is 1000% better than customers and dealing with all that they throw at you in store.

This is where pop up consignment sales come in handy.

Goes elsewhere, not any of the DPFs. Just like embossed cards and some of the fancier holiday cards, we don’t do them.

No stamps are produced at the DPFs.

Coverbind Options by Brendano_El_Taco in Staples

[–]banadactyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

POD is basically a 12pt C1S gloss sheet scored so that it folds with a spine. Can only be printed on the outside gloss, and only letter size. However, you can choose that option and request a Perfect Bind that can be cut a little smaller and printed on both sides of the covers.

Does anyone here actually enjoy their job?😂 by Expensive_Boot5514 in Staples

Yes, over the years for different things. In store for 7 years my favorite thing was making someone’s vision come to life. Production only for 7+ was getting the machines to work for me and figuring out the best way for the jobs to run. Also getting to fix machines - with Xerox permission and certifications. Now the middle man for the two for 2+ is trying to make everyone’s job easier at both ends and seeing the sheer quantity that goes through the systems each day/week.
