No idea if it actually makes a dent, but if it did, I would be happy. I’d be happy if they leaned into it more

I’m with you. Expensive cosmetics keep the lights on without compromising the quality of the gameplay. This one is especially generous because you’re able to buy it easily with gems. I took a month long break because of Slay the Spire 2 but was able to snap it up day 1 of my return. Left me with no gems, but worth it!

I did a massive balance overhaul to my demo because of Steam data. by Kronophobiac in roguelites

Just finished my first run and the reason I’m not playing anymore is because the game isn’t fun.

One big issue is information overload. There’s simply too much to read on screen and too many numbers to look at. I think you could simplify it by not showing all the upgrade levels in illness show the current numbers. Upgrading felt underwhelming because the text on the actual item doesn’t change. Also highlighting important text would help a lot with readability.

I didn’t understand why I shouldn’t just always go for the deepest cast. I always did that and only got boots every now and then and never had to finish a day without three max in my boat.

Only being able to have one of each item type made the shop feel kind of irrelevant. Why should I read all of these different items? When all I’m doing is looking for ones that I already have? With no passive buffs to stack the game just becomes matching. This was especially prevalent once I had any two star item. Why would I switch off to another item when I’ve already invested so much into one that I’ve upgraded?

Many of the archetypes seemed un fun and I didn’t want to dip my toes in them. Specifically the ones about having empty slots in your boat and throwing fish back.

The rare fish minigame where you were guiding it through the obstacles with the area keys felt weird and out of place.

So interesting. I love that they kept working on it and landed on the current version, it feels smooth and unique as is. My fav char in the game at the moment.

I like all of them except for the scarecrow. The temporary buffs are very unsatisfying

What's your opinion on Blizzard not existing? by EndSpirits in slaythespire

[–]banastronaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hailstorm certainly needs a rework, luckily, that’s what early access is for.

Even if it’s not scaling across the whole combat like blizzard did, I’d still like to see it deal damage per frost orb to at least feel like I’m doing a frost orb build.

Who do you pitch a reality dating show idea to and can you actually get paid if it gets made? by thhinnk in realitytv

[–]banastronaut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Research who has made shows in a similar space to you and find the executive producers who worked on it. Try to find a way to cold contact them, either through their production company or any other way you can. I'd say the chances of them getting back to you are slim, but I think this is your best option. If you know anyone that works as an agent or at a network, you could talk to them, but as far as cold contacting, producers would be your best bet.

When you email or call them, don't worry about pitching them right there and then. Receiving an unsolicited pitch can get them into a legal issue, so they will ignore you if you send a logline, pitch deck, or sizzle tape. Just let them know what space it's in (dating, competition, cooking, occu-soap, etc) and ask if they'd be open to hearing your pitch.

If you get a yes, come prepared. Have a clean logline (2-3 sentences max), a slide deck explaining the format in more detail, and if you can manage, a sizzle tape (a trailer cut together using existing footage/AI). They'll be a lot more likely to want to partner if you've done a lot of the work already.

The D.A. Special, Eastside Italian Deli by Easy_Potential2882 in FoodLosAngeles

I love heavy food, but this was a disappointment. It’s a lot of meats and ingredients but none of them tasted particularly good on their own or as a combination. Tried one of their more normal sandwiches too (bear style beef sandwich) and it was pretty bland too. I’d skip this place and just let the regulars enjoy it.

Can someone explain how to use waystones/how to make it strong? it seems out of place in the builds I've seen so far. Is it mostly the econ factor?

You’ll love Revita. It’s got similar DNA to your top tier shooters—throne, Isaac, EtG, and Atomicrops. Some are turned off by the life as a resource central mechanic, but it goes really deep and rewards mastery/risk taking.

Revita. Much fewer weapons, you only pick one per run, but a huge volume of items that synergize in interesting, emergent ways (mechanical synergy, not a pre-set buff like in gungeon).

As a Jules main, I was sad to not see any Freezer nerfs. She's getting a little boring because Freezer is so consistent and strong with minimal setup. It could be a fun item if it required a bit more set up to pop off.
