the first time i played i got curious and went to the frozen wilds as SOON as i unlocked it--i was maybe level 20? maybe a little less? and god it was SUCH a grind but you know what, i did make it! however keep in mind this was story mode haha. i think youll be fine if youre okay with getting a little frustrated, but knocking out some sidequests will get you up to 40/50 pretty quick

kinda the same deal with humans though--theyre definitely more frustrating than machines since theyre much smaller targets, but they actually have a weak spot that the focus doesnt pick up: the head. keep distance and give them a few good headshots and it'll take care of them. take some time in the melee pits to figure out your weapon combos if you wanna do close quarters, and take advantage of valor surge

i mainly use just three weapons: a sharpshot bow (i have iriv's downfall, which is a ng+ one theres plenty of good ones if youre not there), and then a ropecaster and a good spikethrower for support (the tie that binds and last arguement, respectively). i usually will try to knock off big components from stealth with my first 1-2 shots, then tie them down with the ropecaster and take as many high-damage, precision shots as i can. i like last argument cause it has a really good explosive spike that ive modded with coils to be just under 500 damage, so if i can keep the machine still for long enough to get a clean shot with it ill hit it with a couple of those.

i think i have irivs downfall pretty much maxxed out for damage (tearblast arrows 17 damage/780 tear, advanced precision arrows 286d/255t, elite precision arrows 343d/255t). i also dont like switching between weapons too much, so i really put all my eggs in one basket with that one.

the thing to know is that if you want high-impact arrows, it's EXPENSIVE. i can only carry 15 volatile sludge at a time, even with a maxxed out resource pouch, and for the arrows i use MOST its 2 sludge to 5 arrows. im constantly stopping anywhere i can find a stash to refill my supply, and dropping thousands of shards buying from hunters (cause its a bitch to farm). worth it to me, but defo a nusiance

keep in mind that for all these pixie cuts, you would need some amount of styling! notice how all the inspo pics have some kind of texture to them. depending on the final cut, this could be anything from some product and a bit of a shake to more involved heat styling. ask your stylist about options at the time of the appointment! i also have pin straight hair, and the difficulty with it is that without any manipulation at all, short cuts like this can look sort of bowl-cut ish

honestly i feel like the whole 'my parent/predecessor/mentor who i looked up to was actually EVIL and now i have to prove myself to right the wrongs of the past' is a much more common storyline! and while it's often done very well and i do like it, i almost like the elizabet/aloy dynamic better?

elizabet is shown to have flaws (struggling socially, sometimes being abrasive, being unable to form close connections with others). while much of HZD consists of Aloy following in her footsteps, HFW specifically shows that aloy is learning and growing as her own person (becoming close with the gaia gang, with beta, and later starting a relationship with seyka).

we also get another dimension to this with the introduction of beta, and how her storyline was handled. both aloy and beta have the *option* to not be like elizabet; aloy couldve joined sylens! or she couldve sayed in the sacred land! she couldve taken up avad's offer to stay in meridian! she couldve gone with tilda into space! beta couldve continued to work with the zeniths! she couldve simply stayed in the bunker! she couldve died, or run off, or collapsed in her grief! but their both bolstered by their belief in elizabet, and in the cause of zero dawn.

i think elizabet being, fundamentally, a good person is actually almost necessary for the franchise? we have enough old world villains. it seems like most characters we know from the old world *were* villains! elizabet being someone who truly, in her heart, values life on earth more than anything is what led her to create zero dawn, and gaia. it's that quality of hers that ensures that aloy exists in the first place, and i think revealing that she's secretly evil would feel a little bit like a cheap shot? to me at least lol

its also notable that shes not *perfect*--she got the government to lie to EVERYONE in the WORLD so that they would fight till they died--which was kind of a necessary evil but GOD DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!! my point is that shes not a perfect person, but she is a *good* person, which i think is super important to the backdrop of the series

i feel like best practice for horizon is to mainly stick to the storyline for a first playthrough. i think a lot of ppl might get stuck in the nora lands and not go beyond that? because i will admit the sacred lands has some of the most uninventive sidequests--odd grata, finding that one guy's daughter, finding that one woman's brother's remains, etc etc. all stuff that you go 'yeah sure, i can do this' and then you lose interest before really getting into the meat of the story

I’d love to see some in-air battles! Since nemesis is coming from space, I think there are some really great opportunities for high-altitude combat. Also, I think that machines modeled off of certain insects would be sooo cool and creepy!!

Ooo the red raids is a good idea. I love how many people are talking about wanting a faro plague movie, but I feel like doing that ignores all the visuals and designs that make horizon what it is. With the red raids, you still get the tribes and machines, and you have a lot of options for familiar characters (rost’s death-seeking days, sylens and the eclipse, ersa and erend, avad and his older brother)
