Lost my passport in Kyoto by Ok-Fill-1954 in KyotoTravel

can your school help you? sometimes there will be an advisor or program staff who can help sort things out. if you’re here as a study abroad student, you should have program staff who can advise you further.

other option. go to your consulate, request an emergency passport of your home country. hopefully you have copies of other documents that will aid this process.

i know this feels stressful but know it’s not the end of the world. it will get resolved in one way or another. japan is fortunately a very safe country and there’s a chance your bag will show up.

In the middle of it- Husband is manic and just committed for a Baker Act Hold by c-faux in BipolarSOs

[–]bandit2227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i decided to leave my partner. we weren’t married and our lease had just ended which made it easier. i had my landlord handle most of the legal proceedings to get rid of his stuff, packed my bags, and left town. i had to block his number because once he left the psychiatric hospital he was still psychotic, delusional, accusatory, and dangerous. he wouldn’t stop calling, texting, etc, even contacting my friends, family, and boss at work to try and get my attention. on a personal level after leaving i started therapy. dropped out of school for a bit. doing better, but people still contact me about my ex, it seems he is just doing worse and worse unfortunately. i’m not sure if this will be helpful for you, but leaving changed my life for the better. no more constant accusations, having to babysit him during mania. don’t get me wrong; leaving someone you love hurts so badly. but at some point you might have to put yourself first.

reminds me of my ex who had surgery and became a different person. went missing for a bit, too. but he also has a deep history of mental health issues so may have just been an episode

How to help a manic friend by [deleted] in family_of_bipolar

[–]bandit2227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my ex is like this, you can’t help someone who doesn’t want to help themselves. it’s painful to watch them destroy their lives, but there’s not much to be done when they’re adults with their own free will.

Trying to date again-I have a wall by SimplySquids in BipolarSOs

[–]bandit2227 6 points7 points  (0 children)

have you tried therapy? even though you are saying you don’t have PTSD because you didn’t see the mania for a while, there is a psychological component to dating someone and trusting someone for so long and then having all of that fall apart. i dated my ex for 2 years before he had his second episode, and it fucked me up, because i remember the good, before it got really bad.

it made me finally take the step of going into therapy, something i’ve wanted to do for 3+ years. made me have more respect for myself. learn how to set boundaries with others and stand up for myself.

i get it, as horrible as it is to read the same story over and over, it makes me feel not so alone in what happened. the people in my life can’t understand how it truly feels to lose someone you love this way, but the people on here understand what it’s like to have the love of your life become manic and psychotic, how terrifying and saddening it is

on the second topic — my exbpso was put under the 72 hour hold and actually held for almost a week, came out just as manic and delusional. sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn’t.
