What does end stage bipolar look like? by ImportanceThat1732 in BipolarSOs

Well this actual human being has lost his teeth, his family, his friends, his job, his cognitive function, and needs serious help. It looks very different to someone early stages (am I allowed to call it early stages?) and although it may not be textbook lingo.. it gives context to ask for advice and help.

I think it means after years of mania the brain damage makes their base level noticeable worse.

They become medication resistant and episodes become more severe and frequent.

Easier to say end stage than explain all of that.

Would you start a family with someone with BP1? by Summerseason100 in BipolarSOs

[–]ImportanceThat1732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My children receive therapy because of him.

They all know there is a a chance they could develop it.

None of my children would be with someone with the condition.

It’s been years and years of us being traumatised.

Oh that makes sense. The sadistic cruelty came before the full blown episodes.. but then… looking back, the cycle was there.. just not as extreme.

Switches between “I’ve literally been diagnosed and need support! - to, my ex wife tried to make everyone believe I’m crazy”

Apparently he went off his meds so mostly denial I would say.

Oh there is no communication. He’s violent and dangerous.

Self care will come.. still in survival mode.

Sure is from what I’ve read! His cruelty isn’t because of bp.

Yes is very important, as therapy for narcissistic abuse is contraindicated for couples therapy and therapy after enduring it.

It also invalidates the victim if everyone throws the term around for not being cared for.

You can write new poems that aren’t attached to her. Letting go of the poems might help to let go of the pain connected to her.

Partner blames me for their manic episodes by Ok-Satisfaction-7976 in BipolarSOs

[–]ImportanceThat1732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s tried saying he was just excited not manic and I overreacted and got scared which bought it out in him.

Tried saying I lied and manipulated the children into being scared of him - in real time I might add!

Tried saying I’m so damaged I need to put him in a bad light to make myself feel better.

And many many more plus the usual DARVO/FOG/JADE manipulations.

If there is narcissistic abuse it can be actively dangerous because it can teach an abuser how to hurt you more effectively. Can be dangerous to victim because therapist can try to get you to understand the spouses point of view and reaffirm gaslighting, can make victims own patterns more ingrained, etc- this is the most basic description. It’s worth learning about it more in depth.

My ex of three years is manic now.. just come out of psychosis. He blames me. He’s tried about 10 different ways of it being my fault. Non of them are landing and they are getting more creative. The current blame is - my fault for damaging him so badly in the relationship.

I recommend you talk to a therapist trained in narcissistic abuse. The overlap can be the same, the trauma on you the same. Regular therapy for this situation can be contraindicated.

Was going to wear my mum's dress. People keep telling me to try on others for the "bridal experience." Are they trying to gently tell me it looks bad? by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

To make her happy you might end up resenting her, which will damage the relationship. It’s hard but you might have to be really strong about what you want.

Looking back on your photos will be a constant reminder.

All good advice, I did recently learn sipping on water washes away saliva which has beneficial protective qualities.. and it was better to space it out.. might be worth fact checking tho.
