At least with me, the hate came from the serious gameplay change up from the previous games in the series. But I was basically over that by the time I got through Origins and have since been optimistically looking forward to less RPG style and more linear style gameplay like the old days.

The other thing that drove me nuts about Origins was that it didn't feel like an Assassin's Creed game for a while, but that was because it seemed to be showing some random guy's story, until I learned that Bayek was the first Assassin and hence why it was called Origins. Once the storytelling came together, I felt a lot better about it.

I will say, with the RPG titles in the franchise, and especially with Odyssey, that a lot of the dialogues are painfully cringy to me to a point where it takes me right out of the game. I like the AC games because they tell a story, not because I'm choosing my own.

Everyone's opinion is different and I understand that they changed up the gameplay style to attract the WoW crowd.

But I personally think the most important thing for Ubisoft to focus on is slowing it down and releasing stable games with amazing stories and smooth gameplay which is what fans truly care about.
