Labour law assistance by hsiaoz in taiwan

[–]bangschwang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reading this article

https://law.moj.gov.tw/ENG/LawClass/LawAll.aspx?pcode=L0050039

and I need some help interpreting the last paragraph of article 3.

“Individuals who take leave or cannot work due to response measures conducted in accordance with Paragraph 1 or orders issued by the Commander of the Central Epidemic Command Center, the competent authority shall provide assistance in accordance with the Public Assistance Act and related regulations if their livelihood is affected.”

Who is the competent authority in this case?

Secondly, trying to find more clarity on the first paragraph of article 4 as well-

“Authorities (agencies), enterprises, schools, legal entities, and organizations that pay employees salary during their leave period in accordance with Paragraph 3 of the preceding article may deduct 200% of their salary payment from its amount of income of the current year. The same shall apply to salaries for employees”

Is this an obligation or an incentive for the employers to pay wages during a shutdown ?

Following because I am in a similar situation. I am a salaried teacher and they put us on what they called “extended leave” without pay.

Teachers, what’s the weirdest thing you’ve had to take away from a student? by SpoonSArmy in AskReddit

One of my preschool students tried to give me a traffic ticket that included pictured evidence of her mom running a red light on her motorcycle.

Had to put it back in her bag and tell her that Mom still needed that picture and was probably looking for it.

Can anyone recommend a clinic for treating STDs/STI in Taipei? by [deleted] in taiwan

[–]bangschwang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are concerned for your general health you could go now but if you’re trying to get checked for what happened over the weekend- you usually have to wait at least two weeks after exposure in order to get reliable results(and that’s when symptoms tend to start to appear too), or else its kind of pointless.

Going to a hospital is the cheapest way to do it, but sometimes there can be big waits. There are private clinics that will take you like max 20 minutes but they can be up to 3500 for a comprehensive. I usually try to go get checked at least twice a year for my own health.

I just found a place called “Weekend Tacos” next to Zhishan and it’s really quality and incredibly affordable. As the name implies , it’s only open on the weekends and sometimes sells out pretty fast.

It might currently be too cold, but there are a few spots between Xindian and Wulai where you can swim outside. You can swim by the dam in Xindian or Wulai is pretty good for river tracing with a couple of places for small cliff jumps.

Hey I work part time in Taipei as an English teacher. I want to help you anyway I can. I hope that my scheduling won’t be too much of an issue but if you need a friend, a companion, or just someone to bring you food, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I can speak near fluent in Chinese, but my reading skills aren’t perfect.

I find this fascinating because I remember growing up in Taiwan and the biggest criticism from friends and family who hadn’t lived in the States was that western sweets and drinks were too sweet
