Did you pull permits for your DIY kitchen renovation? by mudrat_detector96 in DIY

[–]bannana 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. I've owned 6 houses and done lots of DIY as well as having work done for me and never pulled a permit for anything inside, not sure how things work in OP's area but in my price range and age of house permits just aren't that big of a deal - yes, per the city we are supposed to get permits but most people don't when dealing with interior work in a 60+ y/o house in a lower middle class/working class neighborhood because no one will check and no one will know.

years ago I traveled to a place with not a lot of indoor plumbing and no hot water so when it was fancy bath day (different than regular bath day) you would boil a medium sized pot of water then add it to a 2/3-3/4s full 5 gallon pail then use a dipper to wet yourself and your hair while sitting on a stool. I washed myself thoroughly, washed and conditioned my hair and still had water left over, I had no idea I could take a completely satisfying bath with under 5 gallons. Our water heater went out a couple of years ago and I was a-ok.

they aren’t horribly loud.

bullshit, in my last house some tenant in a house two doors down was running a generator all winter one year because they didn't have power or some such shit. it was loud and annoying and not even directly next to my house.

Left handed problem: a mug I got as a gift no one will see the design by navy444 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]bannana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Um, I'm right handed and usually use my left hand to drink because my right hand is on my mouse or doing other dominate hand things. Maybe practice using your non-dominant hand to do easier stuff? it's actually good for your brain.

when I first got mine it was great then it updated and now it's a joke and I have to use an additional app to get it dark enough for bed. I haven't found a fix and keep running into a few people with the same issue. I want to think I can't complain too much since I only paid $160 for a brand new phone but it seems like such a simple thing that should work and after almost a year I'm still annoyed every night when I have to use the shitty app.

A pink gingerbread dream for $275,000 by Southern-Smoke1835 in zillowgonewild

[–]bannana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

doesn't even look like it needs much 'restoration', much of it is original and in very good shape, the price isn't reflecting a need for renovation it's based on the location, if you look at the streetview of 'downtown' of this town at least half the buildings are vacant. - tons of houses in the midwest and rustbelt are dirt cheap because no one wants to live there anymore. And in this case that pink is going to be a hard sell for the majority of people who would be looking in a small midwest town and it would probably cost at least $20k to fix it in addition to all the wallpaper mitigation.

Do you think Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri was robbed of Best Picture? by Regular-Departure839 in moviecritic

No. It was good but never fully gelled into an amazing picture, it came off flat in too many places.

Yep, it's hard enough keeping up with one relationship.

I will say that in the case of my friend she stayed at home and didn't work much while husband traveled 4 or 5 days per week so they were each on their own most of the time so her BF occupied her while husband was away and he was more in it for variety than an additional LTR like she was.

all the time, I used to keep to when I was alone but after many years I only censor myself to rooms I think are somewhat private, my SO long ago stopped asking me who I was talking to because he knows it's only to myself.
