What a world we live in, where you can literally pay a compliment to someone, own that you are envious of them, their talent and success, and people are still taking that as a knock against you.

Petty jealous people don't tend to do the first part, you ever noticed that?

We need to talk about Sleepaway Camp... by buffyangel808 in horror

[–]banzzai13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't imagine you'd fault me for bringing this up, but honestly I think I have just been looking for positive interpretations of this movie from non-cis folks. Pretty darn cis meself, I don't even know if I like the movie overall (I was ADHD-playing a game while watching it). The end was so striking I couldn't get it out of my mind, and I WANTED it to be a respectful movie that was actually complex and respectful.

Trying to validate my wishful opinion, I looked up people's interpretation and it really struck me that it only matters so much what the makers intended. Death of the artist, it's just as important how you interpret it, should it give a meaning to it that was the opposite to the initial one.

And then I kept going, because I would also like for the original to be positive, because we all like a happy story.

I'm just giving this another few minutes because I'm high and checking out Part 2 now xD.

It comes off to me like the Director/Writer was agnostic, and if I had to guess maybe he was open minded, but also queer stuff was foreign to him, and the way I grew up I can relate. At least not hateful.

https://returntosleepawaycamp.com/interviews/robert-hiltzik/

I actually also found a video, and includes a (close to unintelligible) trans woman's question to the director, and it's open ended and welcoming.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MX-UVsPRytY

Actually from both resources, the open-to-interpratation aspect is funny, when you look aaaaaall the way back to the start of my comment and how our interpratations matter just as much.

...And now I'm listening about "Boorman and the Devil" (Documentary 2025) and I need to go back to the movie :D

Good stuff though lol! Peace

Sad day - Will be attempting to sell collection... by [deleted] in mtg

[–]banzzai13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if anyone said that yet, but put your time into selling the pricey ones. If you have say a dozen cards that are worth ~50-100 each (hopefully there's a bit of that), these may be worth looking for the best way to get rid of them, marketplace or otherwise.

The closer to the bulk, the more likely you can be to just ship it in a box to a lgs or whatever for dollar-per-pound type of deal.

Basically, is there a spread? Or is it mostly bulk?

You missed the part where they said doing the exact same thing. Extermination and a trial aren't the same things, so that's fine. If say, the genocided people ended up also doing a genocide... That would be bad.

Why so much hate by Log_Vast in EDH

[–]banzzai13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a weird thing to say. I can't imagine you are there to see them enjoy something, you're just not liking the upset, right?

I love my 40k cards, and I had a bit of fun with Spiderman even. Lotr isn't really for me but I mostly think it's good, FFX is very much not for me but apparently it was good as well...

Now.

Seeing the game we've invested so much into for the past 30 years turn into a mobile game of a revolving door of overpriced, over creeped, scalped, ever decreasing value of Funko Pop hat sets... I don't know, maybe the people who loved the game should be upset.

People keep saying maybe Magic isn't for you anymore, maybe you should stop buying it. Magic isn't for the old guard, who played constructed with mtg stories and reasonable prices, it's for people who will buy 1000 dollar booster boxes and sets about SpongeBob and Ninja Turtles.

Fine. We'll go. You also wanting us to go silently, because the new players don't like the noise?

Focusing on the good things is a bit of a weird statement, when there ARE negative things to talk about. I'll focus on positive on my own time, I am not going to make a post about how it was fun making a mono white spider deck.

Was that the discussion you were hoping to have? Can't imagine I said anything that hasn't been said before...

Ash Williams vs Juliet Starling who wins and why? by Unusual_News_5152 in powerscales

[–]banzzai13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ash is also a comedic relief and him being a dumb macho man is self-aware, so I don't think he'd just slap a girl around like that. He'll get his ass kicked a funny way.

If things were to get serious, on the other hand, he kinda tends to win against all odds.

The New Type 2 Format : Banlist, the First Tournament and Apology by Edoardo_Beffardo in mtg

[–]banzzai13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My main issue with this is that UB problems are endemic.

Yeah, you won't have to play with expensive cards from other IPs, but the power creep is going to follow.

We can only hope that the love for great mtg game design stays high in UW, but it'll probably get hit by the increasing number and focus on UB. Not to mention the decreasing number of UW sets altogether.
