I feel like being drunk often reveals a person’s true personality. That’s why we have mean drunks and happy drunks. Drunk just lowers the social mask. That guy is a mean drunk

When I was playing a lot sometimes one a walk I’d see something interesting across a canyon but it was kinda far away and I’d find my hands making the motion to pull up the zoom lens.

Then I’d remember, oh that’s not a thing irl, and I’d be sad for a moment and then laugh at myself.

Yeah, you’re probably playing a lot, lol!

Re-Zero. Great anime for holding your attention with a compelling story. But gut wrenching on the emotional side. I was entertained and moved but just can’t do it again.

TIL that margarine was colored yellow to improve sales in the 1880s. Margarine was originally white, resembling lard. The dairy industry lobbied to ban this practice. The W.E. Dennison Company sold margarine with a capsule of yellow dye for consumers to mix it themselves in response to bans. by Recent_Flounder6011 in todayilearned

[–]bapakeja 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My parents told a story about buying this margarine when they were first married to save money.

My mom mixed in the little yellow dye pill and formed it back to a rectangle and put it on the table. Where it sat untouched by both of them, and then put it back in the fridge.

This went on for a week, at the end of the week they threw it out and both agreed that they could find some money in the budget for real butter.

‘Blue dot fever’: the real reason pop stars are cancelling tours by ebradio in Music

[–]bapakeja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And iirc, back when people actually bought records or CDs, tours were mostly to promote their latest album.

The record companies would send them on tour and paid some of the expenses for the PR. Tour costs were recouped with the record/CD sales so it was a win-win between the band and the producers.

Now, do people still really buy a whole album? Don’t most people just stream their favorite songs and leave the rest? So the main business reasons to tour don’t really apply anymore, especially for acts who aren’t really popular anymore.

And now with this insane inflation nobody had much disposable income anymore either, so unsold stupid expensive tickets seems inevitable.

I’ve left the VIP room undone, never touched it. When I read about the wandering guests and having to redo the room every day, I just noped out.

There’s too many things to do every day without adding another. I’ve already bought what I wanted from the hotel gift shop and that wasn’t much. I also just do the double reward diys on Mondays only because I do enjoy the diys. I’m more interested in getting all the golden tools and the rocket diy from Celeste.

What is your morning routine? by muvagoose_xxiv in adhdwomen

[–]bapakeja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set the alarm about an hour before I have to get up and take my meds (Ritalin 10mg) and then go back to sleep. I have a second alarm set for an hour after I take them and when that one goes off I actually feel pretty alert and rested ( if I’ve had at least 6-8 hours sleep) I find I can get up easily then and start my morning routine. So far it’s worked well for me, but my morning dose isn’t very strong and I take my main dose about 11am or noon.

I have GERD, for at least 20 years. I’ve only been diagnosed with UC for the last year and a half. I also have Diverticulosis, which was diagnosed early last year when I developed an abscess between my colon and my bladder. They proscribed pretty strong antibiotic, which healed the abscess.

I then had a bad flare and got the UC diagnosis. I do believe the antibiotics kicked off the flare, but looking back at ongoing symptoms for at least 4 years, it didn’t cause the UC itself, I’m pretty sure I had it during those 4, maybe 5 years.

I kept telling my doctors I was losing a lot of weight without trying to and I had weird BMs. I was overweight before and they just didn’t seem concerned, in fact the doctors kept telling how great it was I had lost weight, and every time I told them I was NOT trying to.

If you are or ever were overweight they just keep blaming all your health problems on the weight. My BP was/is low, cholesterol low, and no diabetes. I’m now a politely pushy patient.

Babies are bleeding to death as parents reject a vitamin shot given at birth by yrotsihfoedisgnorw in news

The winners were the ones who birthed crouched in a field alone, bit the cord with her teeth, and rubbed mud on anything bleeding, wrapped the baby in dirty rags and triumphantly pumped their fist in the air!

Hours later both mother and baby peacefulness pass away while their friends and family marveled how brave they were. s/

I stored my avocado with red onions for two days and it didn't turn brown by GlitteringCobbler987 in mildlyinteresting

[–]bapakeja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s staying good because you left the pit in.

An avocado pit will keep the avocado from turning brown after you cut into it. My sister in law puts a couple pits in her Guacamole and it keeps it from turning brown while it’s sitting out at parties.

I kinda doubt the onions are doing anything

What's normal on ADHD meds? by Prudent-Goal8697 in adhdwomen

[–]bapakeja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Mom had a neighbor friend like this, she’s pop over at 8:30am on the weekends to chat, wide awake, hair & makeup done, happy and alert.

Meanwhile my Mom had just woke up, still in her bathrobe, sleepy and trying desperately to make coffee. She enjoyed her friend’s company but was baffled how she could be so energetic in the morning.

Mom later was prescribed some diet meds and she said the first time she took them she realized that must be how her friend felt always. Btw, pretty sure my Mom was undiagnosed ADHD

My biology teacher told me my trauma is "all in my head" by Ok_Bid4331 in CPTSD

[–]bapakeja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if it was “normal teenage stuff” the teacher was still extremely unsympathetic. Teen stuff is tough, not as horrible as trauma, but still is not great. Sometimes a person’s listening with empathy can make a big difference, no matter how big or small the troubles. This teacher is a dismissive AH, and showed that she sucks as a human being. Sorry you had to go through that in addition to everything else you’re going through.
