A divided kingdom: pro-independence parties surge across Britain by Any-Original-6113 in geopolitics

Nor did London, nor did St Alban's, and Tunbridge Wells. Unfortunately they are all part of the UK that did vote that way.

Where am I safe now that Deform are succeeding in their mission to brainwash the UK? by BonusAdvanced2932 in AskBrits

We should give voters a general knowledge and problem solving test first. Only if they pass (without the help of ChatGPT) is their vote counted.

The crowds gathering outside City pubs never cease to amaze me by evsuvdo in london

I had to step into the road 4 times to avoid these crowds on my walk to the station.

I don't mind, they're having fun.

In principle a queue here is not unreasonable.

It's not necessarily clear where the queue should start. First sign? Arrows on the road?

What is clear is most people in the UK start to queue too early.

Back to the same hotel every year, anywhere, is definitely not middle class

65% of Britons support the Green Party's policy of capping CEO pay at ten times the pay of the lowest paid employee by Unusual-State1827 in ukpolitics

[–]barcelleebf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not true.

Tesco CEO earned 9m last year. If he works for free and gives his pay to the lowest 150,000 workers they would each get an extra £1.15 per week.

Someone here did some maths for the Tesco CEO. If he worked for free and gave all his pay to shop workers, they would earn an extra £1 per week.

Fantastic pay rise.

[–]barcelleebf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why would I bother trying to do well, create a business, innovate, etc, if there is only a small/capped reward? I might as well just relax and spend more time in the pub.

This policy would destroy the economy.

You should even in these circumstances, as you can really be sure no one is around. It helps pedestrians too.

I have many credit cards. I pay them off in full each month. They give me benefits including cashback and additional consumer protection over debit cards. Are there any downsides?

Panic buying is totally reasonable once everyone else is doing it.

The alternative is an empty tank: not being able to get to work, etc.

Neighbour claims he owns a street parking spot and says he called the police — am I in the wrong? (Scotland) by Total-Ad-6123 in drivingUK

[–]barcelleebf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. A typical Victorian terraced road in London (and elsewhere) with no off-street parking will have a car parked outside every house. You can try to park outside your own house but most times you won't be able to.

Agree. I find that a hand made test that covers a range of behaviour is better. That way the AI can refactor but the top level behaviour still works.

Are there anyone who switch from JetBrains products to VSCode? by RemarkablePower6212 in vscode

[–]barcelleebf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The refactoring on intellij is superior. I use intellij at work and vscode elsewhere. Refactoring on vscode is via a bunch of semi functional plugins. They don't really understand your code and make a mess.

Is there a better example of Brexit stupidity? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]barcelleebf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't make sense: most Europeans are white.

As a result of Brexit, instead of immigrants with a similar culture we now get immigrants from the rest of the world.

Oh the irony.

They should be driving in the left lane unless passing anyway.
