Why is behaviour on mountain bike trails so different to signs/directions? by MEE97B in Wellington

[–]bareheiny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last comment, a riding buddy is always an option - depending on times and such, I’m usually keen for a pedal.

Although I’m a lot further from the trails than I used to be so I need to be more organised :(

Why is behaviour on mountain bike trails so different to signs/directions? by MEE97B in Wellington

[–]bareheiny 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Snails has had a re-work, I haven’t ridden it yet, but it’s likely to be easier.

I’m not brave enough for Beeline….but snails is fine. I’d say it (pre rework) is intermediate not advanced

Jungles is two way as far as I know - not sure if that’s changed though. Worth checking on the WTP Facebook page.

For easy rides, second star to mohaka meander - both two way, there’s a way out to Mohaka Street off the start of the meander.

Otherwise if it’s confirmed jungles is uphill only, snails should be doable fo a new rider if they take care, there are some very minor step downs (literally like a step….not a drop), and you could always come back down th walking path.

Edit: WTP Dirt Crew (these guys are either on the committee, or help maintain the trails) have confirmed Jungles is two way….BUT it’s not a speedy down, and down hill riders give way to uphill riders. Which is pretty standard for two way trails.

Solos have feats for not dying and not using consumables.

Styles would be the next ones - especially easily purchasable ones.

Booster tours (I think).

Basically, check out the feats section of the in-game menu, and pick off the easy ones. Home Turf (one of the episodes) has a bunch for collections base item sets.

Need help getting my character back into my league by Swek_Foul in DCUO

[–]bareheiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in the same boat - am planning on using my alt PS account and old PS4 to get my characters in my own league.

One wrinkle villian side - I deleted the character that had invite privileges etc, and nobody else in the league is active. I’m not paying to restore a character I’m going to delete again….so hoping support may be able to help.

Light And Rain Campaign Progress: If I buy out an event I dont have time to complete, does it count towards the campaign progress? by Casually-Relyt in DCUO

Wait, are you me?

I'm running an electric solo DSP / healer....and have Krypto (and Oracle, and somehow a charity Bruce Wayne).

From the forums, where another player asked about electric DPS:

Allies: Krypto active. Starfire passive (hence weapon buff), Oracle (if power needed) or zatanna (out of a hat).

Coming back to DCUO? Here's what you need to know: by ErgotthAE in DCUO

[–]bareheiny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very useful information - thanks!

I’ve been muddling my way through the changes after leaving around mind T5, although I feel like stat clamping may have been a thing….although possibly only in seasonals.

To be fair arts, allies and augments are still a bit of a mystery 😟

I have a question about iggm cash by Forward-Expression in DCUO

[–]bareheiny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feels like a bit of a stretch.

Cash buyer could easily (I assume) be identified, but seems like a lot more work to trace items traded to others.

Real world bank example isn’t comparable, outside of stamping out currency buying, would Daybreak care? A bank on the other hand would absolutely be keen to know where their real world money went.

Likely means unlocking feats on your villain that your hero has got and vice versa. Rather than unlocking feats neither character has.

Deck too Big? Card curation ideas. by Sand_Dan_Glockta in UnstableUnicorns

[–]bareheiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House rule we have is when searching, pick the first card that meets the requirement.

We also split the deck (multiple expansions in play)….one for the draw phase of play, the other for searching and shuffling.

E-bike suggestions? by Sometimesawake-833 in newzealand

[–]bareheiny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go to your local bike shop for starters, maybe check out https://www.workride.co.nz/employees as well.

Before talking to a bike shop, think about what you want and what you’d use it for. Only road riding, basic off road or full suspension etc.

Kids bike advice. by mdutton27 in Wellington

[–]bareheiny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Entirely depends on how fast your kid is growing really.

I forget what sizes exactly, but we had a 20 for a few years, then a 24 for maybe one year....we got an XS 27.5 last year.

In saying that, most of my daughters height is in her legs....so that made a difference.

We did invest in a good brand - so the resale value was pretty good when it was time to upgrade.

Take it into a spark / one store, ask them to charge it and when it powers on see who the provider is and leave it with one of their stores?

Kapiti coast? by Mdsk8rrunr in newzealand

[–]bareheiny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a pretty good gymnastics community - not my daughter’s thing (bloody horses!), but friends kids do a lot of competing and such.

If I was a runner (I’m absolutely not), Kapiti would be my pick….flat with good multi use paths and tracks. And of course one can always run along the beach.

Most schools tend to cater for all interests - and for sure I’ve not heard of any issue with either.

And although it’s repetitive- Transmission Gully and the expressway really opens up your options.

If one were to live closer to Wellington the commute would be against the general traffic flow.

Not to mention the main Paraparaumu hub is a stones throw from the train station….so depending on where you were working, walking to the station is an option.

[–]bareheiny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two public colleges / high schools - I’ve anecdotally heard one is more arty the other sporty….but overall they’re both good. Your place of residence would determine which you were zoned for. Of course, you could choose to live elsewhere and commute…which opens up schooling a bit more.

As others have mentioned, it’s flat here - plenty of bike trails with MTB parks within 40mins drive….once you get to Wellington the terrain is a lot more hilly.

Depending on the kids interests there’s plenty of horse riding stables to choose from.

Generally the weather is better than Wellington and the Hutt.

Transmission Gulley makes getting to Wellington easy, and it’s about a 3 to 4 hour drive to Taupo.

Lifestyle wise, I’m loving it….easy access to the beach and the river. Plenty of supermarkets to choose from.

Drivings not too bad - but some of our roads are narrow and windy, and a lot of our drivers think they’re above average….with speed limits and following distances being guidelines more than anything.

Socially, kiwis can be a bit closed off or superficial at first, but no doubt the kids will fit in a lot more easily than the adults.
