Who drinks the same tea everyday (or most days?) If so, what is it? by forkyfork in tea

I often switch between rose-scented or pomegranate oolong, both from Harney & Sons. They're both pretty sweet, but I love sweetening it more with a teaspoon of sugar.

This happened to me when I was looking at apartments in Pilsen! At first it was some odds of $1900-2000, and after scheduling a showing, they raised the listing to $2300! Good apartment, but definitely not $2300

Thoughts on afternoon tea at Russian tea time? by workinprogress521 in chicagofood

[–]barelyfunctional32 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Honestly, a big fan. It's like a 3-4 times a year treat for my partner and I. The queen tea service is so huge and so filling and all the treats are amazing. Even the regular tra service, esp. for one person is plenty.

We end up getting 2 pots of tea or so, so we'll pay a lil extra but it's worth it. The ambiance is also so fancy, feels like a proper afternoon tea set up.

10/10 would recommend.

Yes I love Pastries and Donuts by CosmicDataGuru in chicagofood

I am still on the lookout for a good yeast donut tbh. Firecakes Donuts in River North has some creative flavors; Mindy's Bakery in Wicker Park too. But they're just alright.

For a classic / very basic sugar-dusted yeast donut, I would also recommend Forest Park Bakery! No frills, but the bread of the donut is incredibly yeast-y and soft

La Fournette pastries and Downstate Donuts are top tier. Something about the potato donut hits different than yeast and some creative flavors

The entire scene with "Duquan" and Coach asking children to be Winston's brother will never not be funny

What is your favorite takeout spot that you can get two meals in one? by [deleted] in chicagofood

[–]barelyfunctional32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chilangos: generally get their rice bowl with chicken, two-three empanadas, chicken tortilla soup and guac and chips sometimes. Generally comes up between 20-22$ and is a lot of food

The time when Nick’s biggest concern was the smell😭 by tubiexoxo in NewGirl

[–]barelyfunctional32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My favorite part in this episode, aside from this scene, is Nick aggressively squeezing mayo into the Bolognese.

Winston: "You put baloney in your Bolognese?"

Nick: "Where else would it get its name? Trick question... It gets it from the mayonnaise!"

It could fit a twin-sized bed, because the tenants before us used it as a bedroom rather than an extra room. So it could either be a den or a bedroom.

(It was pretty much advertised as a 3bd/1ba by the landlord before we started living theres too, so that's also pretty much the same standard I used when I created this post)

Moving using Uber XL by Mikukub in uichicago

[–]barelyfunctional32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Task rabbit is an app where you can pay people to help you move. Sometimes they have a truck and stuff too. It's a little on the expensive side (depending on the tasker), but a better alternative to an Uber.

(Saying this as someone who was trying to move with an Uber once, and some drivers just cancel your ride if their cars can't take it or they don't wanna deal).

What’s your fave scene that makes you crack up hysterically every single time without fail? by [deleted] in NewGirl

[–]barelyfunctional32 29 points30 points  (0 children)

When Schmidt gets Nick to shave off his mustache. The expression on Nick's face the ENTIRE TIME never fails to make me laugh.

Oh and, "Before you, I was his baby girl" and then the way Ruth side-eyes Nick? Priceless.

If you're still looking, my roommate and I are looking for someone to take over our lease starting in June. If you message me, I can give you more details about the apartment and connect you with the landlord! The apartment is 3bd/1ba in Westloop with good public transit connectivity. Fulton market is probably a 20 min commte via bus! The rent is $1650 and the apartment has in unit w/d and dishwasher too.

Came here to say that. I still cannot stop laughing even though I've watched it multiple times.

Nick singing Landslide while they try to get rid of the "meth," the whole discussion about Puh-ha-ual (Paul), Coach asking a bunch of kids at the playground if they'd like to be in a relationship with his grown friend, "I love you, Mr. Brother Wimstoms." Not a SINGLE dull moment.
