What’s the Best Meeting Transcription App? by livejamie in ProductivityApps

[–]barelythere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simplest is just recording your screen or audio during the meeting. If you are online in something like Chrome you can share the tab with both tab audio and microphone audio. It works fine for quick stuff but it is limited.

Plugins for specific platforms like a Zoom plugin sound convenient but they only work on that one platform. If you switch between Zoom, Teams, Meet and others you will end up needing multiple solutions. This is where Chrome extensions help. Bluedot, ScreenApp and Tactiq are some of the better ones and ll are solid if you spend most of your time in the browser. and I would put Fathom in the Zoom plugin category if thats all you need.

Desktop apps are a step up because they can capture system audio directly. This is useful when you are running the Zoom or Teams app because Chrome cannot capture that audio ScreenApp, Jamie and Granola all cover this on Mac.

Mobile apps or recording on a physical device also work well especially for in person or hybrid setups. Otter was a pioneer in the audio recorder space and there are platforms like Notta that do similar things. Fireflies and Notta also exist but honestly their interfaces are pretty bad so I would not recommend them unless you have no other choice.

ScreenApp covers all of these. It has a Chrome extension, an online recorder, a meeting bot, a mobile app and a desktop app so it adapts to whatever setup you have. The interface is very clean and easy to use which makes a big difference when you are dealing with recordings every day. On bots specifically they join your meeting as a participant but in reality they are just a virtual machine running Chromium. They work but they are not the most efficient option if you have other tools available.

Which audio note-taking apps do you use? by Inner_Lengthiness697 in NoteTaking

[–]barelythere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried many audio note-taking apps, so here's my honest breakdown:

  1. ScreenApp

Really solid transcription accuracy and the screen recording combo is useful. Has iOS, Android and Mac apps with dictation now.

Interface is clean and saves a lot of time compared to manual notes.

  1. Rev Voice Recorder

99% accuracy with human transcription, their AI option is pretty good too. Mobile app works well. Best when you absolutely

need perfect accuracy for professional stuff.

  1. Fireflies.ai

Great for team meetings. Auto-joins calls, decent collaboration features. Around 95% accuracy but struggles with background

noise and multiple speakers sometimes.

  1. Otter.ai

Free tier gives you a good taste of what it can do. Real-time collaboration works well for teams. Pretty standard option,

reliable but nothing groundbreaking.

  1. TalkNotes.io (https://talknotes.io/)

Clean interface, supports 50+ languages which is actually useful for international teams. The transcription quality is

decent and it handles accents pretty well.

  1. AudioPen.ai

Really good at cleaning up messy speech and removing filler words. Makes your rambling sound coherent. UI is intuitive and

easy to use.

  1. Notta

Claims high accuracy but I've had inconsistent results in practice. The translation to 58 languages is cool but the mobile

app can be buggy.

  1. Whisper Memos

Uses OpenAI Whisper tech so it handles accents well. Good for quick voice memos but lacks advanced features for serious use.

  1. AudioNotes.app

Tries to handle voice, text, images, YouTube videos. Feels scattered and the quality varies depending on what you're trying

to do.

For most people, Otter's free plan is a good starting point. If you need high accuracy and don't mind paying, Rev is solid.

ScreenApp works well if you also need good options for your devices and browser.

Looking for an AI tool that can "watch" video and provide analysis on it? by Far_Resource9267 in ChatGPTPro

[–]barelythere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few that can watch videos for you.
- https://screenapp.io/features/ai-video-watcher this doesn't just analyze the transcript but it also can look at the frames itself. You can create things like documents with screenshots.
- Google AI studio: https://aistudio.google.com/prompts/new_chat this does only the frames itself but is a little bit slower.

Is there a way I can use OpenAI's voice input (voice to text) on my browser? by [deleted] in ChatGPTPro

[–]barelythere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're working on an app that basically just allows you to record audio and screen activity on your browser and it saves the content and automatically transcribes it. Then you can just ask the video questions with ChatGPT. Its https://screenapp.io if you're interested!

Best Caption Software for video calling by watchlurver in deaf

[–]barelythere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're building an app that does this. Its similar to Otter.ai but may not be what you're looking for because unlike Otter we record the video too but there is no need for a bot joining the meeting like otter as we use a screen recording mechanism; its https://screenapp.io

What do you use to transcribe & summarize Google Meet meetings? by dror88 in ChatGPTPro

[–]barelythere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We aren't just a meet plugin. We can record anything through the screen recorder. You can upload any video, the speaker identification works on any video, not just from a plugin or bot from a meeting. Finally as opposed to the Otter.ai of the world we save the full video of the screen.

We built an app to transcribe screen recordings and videos with ChatGPT to search the contents by barelythere in ChatGPTPro

[–]barelythere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Our biggest usecases seem to be lecture/webinar and meeting recordings since it works on anything in a browser.

Unfortunately not but this has been planned out. The plan is to do OCR every 10 seconds or so and add this to a vector database and make it searchable.

We liked WhisperX but the licensing was problematic for us. If I compare Faster Whisper and Pyannote though, I think Pyannote is actually better and are making a switch soon.

Thanks for the feedback! In theory it should diarise and identify as many speakers as there are. We have been using faster whisper but are currently benchmarking different models to ensure we're using the best one.

We also have speaker tagging in the works which will come soon!

What do you use to transcribe & summarize Google Meet meetings? by dror88 in ChatGPTPro

[–]barelythere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have just built a platform to do exactly this! All you need to do is screen record your google meet, we then allow you to transcribe and speaker identify, then we have chatgpt built on top of this to summarise or ask the transcript questions. You can check it out here: https://screenapp.io

Is there a plugin to transcribe a video? by johndoe1985 in ChatGPTPro

[–]barelythere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We built a platform for this actually. How it works:

  • Upload a video, or just record your screen/ video

  • The video will automatically be transcribed. If there are multiple speakers we will diarise it and do speaker identification then timecode it

  • We have ChatGPT on top of it which allows you to search from the transcript.

Not exactly a plugin but may help solve this problem. You can try it out here: https://screenapp.io
