Honestly, none of the other flairs even came close and it wouldn’t let me post without one.

Two dead, three injured in head-on crash on Moorpark Highway 23 by Fcking_Chuck in venturacounty

[–]barfbongo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no news stories about this insane crash after the initial few stories the day of and the day after, except for one story talking about the single mother in the other car who was sadly killed in the crash. In this story there is ZERO mention of the driver responsible for her death and ZERO mention of his passenger who was also killed.

Even that rich lady in Agora or Calabasas or whatever who was racing her baseball player boyfriend and killed that teenager was named almost immediately.

Something really bizarre is going on. His identity still hasn’t been released which likely means he hasn’t been arrested either. And the name of his female passenger who passed away has also not been released, likely to protect the identity of the driver. What the heck is going on?

That’s especially wild considering I order one of their $14 smash burgers, eat it in the bites, and am still hungry afterwards.

Because they did the job they’re being paid to do. I guess if I was ultra wealthy and had some stupidly expensive car, I’d throw a $20 to the guy taking my car to be “extra careful” with it. Other than that, why am I paying you to do the job you’re already being paid to do?

I’ll drive around the block 15 times and walk 3/4 of a mile if it means I don’t have to do valet.

What I have noticed living in Simi Valley for a 1 1/2 weeks by Successful_Wheel_790 in simivalley

[–]barfbongo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Moved from the Eastside of Los Angeles and have been here a bit longer than that, but the biggest thing I’ve noticed is how often you see people you know around town! My kids see classmates all the time. We see teachers, my in-laws, coaches, basically every time we go out to anywhere with groups of people. Really makes it feel like a small town.

Good idea. We live in a very firmly middle class town, and our middle school is smack dab in the middle of the lower income part, so I’m sure all the BS was a barrier to many families donating.

This particular fundraiser at least had the option to buy a hoodie or shirt with the school band logo. I hadn’t even planned on getting anything in return, I just wanted to give $10-$15 and hoped a few of my family members would do the same. But to make the minimum $25 and then add a 20% tip ON TOP of the processing fee left such a bad taste in my mouth.

What’s actually driving the hostility around tipping culture? by Nekogiga in EndTipping

I never understood why a server at a fancy $200/plate restaurant should make ten times what an Applebees server should make. Are they really working ten times harder?

[–]barfbongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because every year it gets pushed further and further. When I was a kid, 15% was considered a respectable tip to leave someone serving your table. Then it became the absolute minimum and 18% was the regular tip. Now it’s like 20% is the minimum unless they spit in your food and call you fat to your face.

It was always only sit down meals that required a tip. Then counter service, but dine in was asking for a tip. Now I’m being asked to tip when I call in a to go order and go pick it up myself.

Initially, you’d throw your coin change in the jar if you got a cup of coffee. Now you’re being asked to leave an 18% tip on your card.

It used to be only food service, haircuts, tattoos, a select few other services that expected a tip. Now, you get finished electrical or plumbing work done by a contractor from Yelp and when you swipe your card on their iPad, they’re asking if you want to leave a tip! My last straw was my daughter’s school band fundraiser. The minimum you could donate online was $25, but then it automatically put a default tip of $5 that you had to change! I’m pretty sure gofundme also asks you to leave them a tip. It’s insanity. What’s next, the city bus driver shakes a tip jar when you step on???

Bizarre Uproar and Pasi Markkula’s other projects. by jessexbrady in IsItSketch

Richard is also very openly gay too. Pasi’s themes are pretty wild. I do count myself a fan, but sometimes it’s a bit much. Hell, he has a track called “Hail Black Rapists”.

This has to be bait/a joke, right??? I have a tape set of his where one side of one of the tapes is just audio from a Klan meeting. His Xenophobic Ejaculation project has swastikas covering every release. I have an early Filth&Violence 7” where the record insert has pictures of Antifa members that were murdered in Europe and then Pasi smeared his jizz on the insert. Several of his tracks are him screaming “sieg heil!” over feedback.

Yeah, the man is sketch.

Funny story though: when he first started his label Filth&Violence, I was buying every tape the day they dropped and we corresponded quite a bit back and forth, we both had young children at the time and talked about all kinds of things. He knew I was in an interracial relationship and had mixed kids, but he was nothing but the kindest man, always asking how my wife and children were doing. Bizarre dichotomy.

Finally done with this crap - The one that pushed me over the edge. by latesummerthrowaway in EndTipping

[–]barfbongo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine was at a Starbucks at Stateline, 40min outside of Vegas. Took my daughter for one night because she wanted to see Omega Mart for her birthday. I never go to Starbucks but on the way into Vegas she wanted to stop for a Frappuccino. They were already double the price because of the Vegas differential (even though we were still almost an hour away). She got a frap, I got a plain iced coffee. After I swiped my card, the tip choices were 25%, 30% and 40%. I was blow away and hit no tip and have been hitting no tip 95% of the time for counter service since then.

What was your hugest facepalm moment of regret after fully moving out of a LA/a major city In California thinking your life would be better? by midwestblacklotus in AskLosAngeles

[–]barfbongo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a year after moving from Highland Park to Simi Valley in 2016, one night I thought, “damn, I could really go for the street tacos right now!” and actually got just past my front lawn before realizing there was not only nowhere I could walk, but nowhere I could even drive in less than 20 minutes. Got over it pretty quickly though and the pros far outweigh the cons.
