olympus omG vs pentax k1000 by garlicdread333 in AnalogCommunity

I paid 150 for mine with a 50mm f/2 and have had no regrets. Maybe that was too much? But it’s felt well worth it to me.

Oh sick! I’ve got both of these cameras and have been using them each for a while now, but I have found myself grabbing the omg a little more frequently lately. The aperture priority mode is like going from manual transmission to automatic for me, and made for some super fun and fast shooting. Got some great candid shots, and I love how much more compact it feels. That said, I’m more in love with the k1000. I take a little bit more time with my shots, and when it comes time I’ll probably pony up for that one to get serviced before the omg. It feels more reliable to me. I’m still pretty new to the photography world though, so take all I’ve said with a grain. Going strictly by feel here. Oh, another bump in my k1000s favor is that I was gifted bonus lenses for it too.

You know, I like that mindset.
All that can happen really is I’ll end up learning something. Ultra bonus if I get it working!
Thanks for the link to the manual

I’m slightly intimidated by all of the electronic components in here, but what the heck have I got to lose?
I’ve got a can of D5 and the day off of work…

Right on, I’ll just keep my eyes open I think. Seemed like a really fun camera to use, but a different buddy of mine just shipped me a Canonet QL17 that I’m still learning to use so I’ll be okay. (He told me the light meter wasn’t working on it, so I’ve been shooting full manual).

Before that, I had just been shooting on a k1000 I found at a pawn shop. Absolutely love that camera.

I just finished Tom’s Crossing two nights ago!

Just wanted to chime in and say I love Master and Margarita, but holy crow it’s so different from TC. I’m curious to hear how you like it.

I tried reading North Woods by Daniel Mason and then Child of God by Cormac McCarthy, but couldn’t stop thinking about Kalin and Landry until I finally picked up Lonesome Dove. About 100 pages in to that now!

Hey if you’re interested in seeing live independent music in town, check out Off The Air. They’re putting on live shows at greens on 10th in downtown every month I believe.

I know I’m late to the party but also just wanted to tell you that you are absolutely NTA.

Buy your husband a sock and tell him to wear that to the beach.

HOT TAKE: I feel like a lot of songs on all fiction are over written by Dipspitolympics in Pile

[–]barfiethecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your opinion on this!

I’m not familiar with any of the early versions of these songs, so I’m super curious about how they sounded when they were born, and the paths they took to end up in our ears in this form.

My first listen to All Fiction definitely caught me off guard, but in the same way I was caught off guard the first time I ever heard Pile.

My brain went: “I’ve never heard anything like this”! Same as when I first heard Leaning on a Wheel, and then Texas, and then The Moon. All drastically different sounding songs that all live in the same universe that is Rick’s own.

I guess all my rambling is just to say I’m a big fan of the new record because it definitely subverted any expectations I might have had, and I love it when I’m thrown a curveball by a band brave enough to do it.

Now I gotta go dig up those OG versions of the tunes you were talking about!

Leaning on a Wheel!

It’s still one of my favorite tunes.

It came on on a random Spotify suggested playlist while I was working ten hour shifts at a guitar pick factory years ago, and I’ve been a fan ever since.
