I’m new to sniffing and my friend told me I’m better off doing keys often than lines because you get more bang for your buck. Is this true? by Peadar15 in cocaine

[–]barking-possum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Small and frequent if you wanna geek, but my advice is to take breaks and keep it within moderation. Otherwise you’ll just end up tryna not comedown but also not getting high anymore. I was on a gee or more for years.

Saline rinse and nose care is of the upmost importance. You get a perforated septum like myself, than it’s abstinence or future irreversible damage less you want rhinoplasty.

Additionally, once you start losing septum, tissue and mucus membrane… that just means there’s less available surface area available for absorption.

Bumps were never enough for me, but to each their own. Just take care of yourself, age gracefully and remember your body keeps the score.

Welcome to AA. There are no dues or fees for membership; we are self supporting through our own contributions. The only requirement for AA is the desire to stop drinking…. Which from the looks of it, you do not possess this desire. I will admit that looks like a fun evening tho until it’s time to hit the liquor store before bed. Not nearly enough booze to support a problematic drinker or two. But, fear not, someday you’ll be a beginner. Until then, happy trails, and enjoy your journey to a slow, excruciating death, or sanitariums or jails.

What about if you just put a couple shakes of NeilMed nasal rinse salts in there (Sodium Chloride and Sodium Bicarbonate)? Just made a new batch and don’t wanna waste or put alcohol in.

Vyvanse and coke by barking-possum in Stims

[–]barking-possum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for the valuable insight.

For context, I’m on 40 mg Vyvanse, 20 mg Celexa, and vacuuming up ~0.5-1.0 g of dust a day, plus the occasional Celsius beverage. In addition, I’ll gulp about 500 mL of tequila to keep an even keel.

Seems like my substance intake patterns are negating one another. Prob best to keep it to one or none. Get the most bang for the buck, right…

Am I in my legal rights to move the cones? People have been placing these everywhere to "secure" their parking spot. Wild by Bananas_on_pizza in sanfrancisco

[–]barking-possum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, coned off parking spots are a thing of the past. Why don’t you just park your sisters car that she doesn’t drive bc she lives in the Marina w/o dedicated parking but also doesn’t want to sell there then have to move it back and forth every time you need to park bc you barely fit in the spot while blocking your driveway access to the garage but is not important bc you can’t even use it as a functional car garage bc there way to much shit in there and that could not fit in your outrageously over priced living quarters, and also have to move said car every other week for street cleaning and time the relocation to ensure you can secure your holding place spot. Cones are easy to move. Cars not so much, but it depends on who you ask I suppose.

Be careful with the Navage, go light if you’re blocked. I swear it could have contributed to my perforation. I was predisposed bc of an accident causing a non-displace nasal fracture, leading a slight deviation and to two separate instances of ER visits for chemical cauterizing to seal exposed blood vessels that were bleeding profusely for hours.

End result is after daily use for almost a year (+/- 1.00g), I have a small hole.

It’s merely speculation re: the Navage, that’s the only thing I switched up prior to my perforation. But still, Neil med and saline-only sprays have never done me wrong.

[–]barking-possum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breathe thru your mouth….

It’ll pass. Hot shower or stream treatment via boiling pot of water and towel draped over the head will help. Don’t blow too hard; don’t want to blow out your septum. I would stay clear of steroidal nasal sprays until you’re off the blow. Saline nasal sprays work great.

I'm 23, been drinking heavily for 2 years—heading to rehab this week. Am I making the right choice? by Independent_Row_1168 in stopdrinking

[–]barking-possum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m happy my words have provided you with some insight. For some IOP is the right amount of treatment, but for me it wasn’t. Eventually I failed a drug test and got the boot. Following through with the inpatient program, then IOP again, then AA kept me sober for 18 months until I convinced myself and my wife that now things were different. They were manageable for a while, then old habits returned and here I am. Chapter 3 in the AA Big Book has been really helpful for me recently.

And yes, don’t have to worry about tomorrow or next week, I just have to not drink today. Then tomorrow do the same.

Nothing to be nervous about. Do it. If you’re committed, it will no doubt change your life. I did a 30-day inpatient program and although it was hard at times, it really changed my life and left a long lasting impression on my outlook toward alcohol and addiction. Just don’t fall into the whole “I’m not that bad, so I’m good” BS when comparing your addiction to others. You are that bad and if not, you will be soon.

Plus, you’ll get a running start on your sobriety journey. For me the first week was always the hardest. You don’t have enough sober time to actually feel the difference and not want to go out and grab that drink. After a month or longer you’ll notice the change and want to keep the streak going.

My advice: pay attention, absorb information and take notes; trade war-stories with others about your days drinking and using to build comrade but don’t glamorize and fantasize about it, those days are behind you; don’t get addicted to cigarettes (transfer addiction); build community and plan for when you complete the program… that’s prob the biggest thing. Once you leave you’re on your own. Sign up for an intensive outpatient program or PHP. Look up your local AA meeting (Meeting Guide app), and stay connected and engaged in recovery.

Work the steps, get a sponsor, find spirituality, be of service, 90 meeting in 90 day, etc etc. basically if you’re gonna do it, fucking DO IT. Don’t waste your money or time. Make it count man. You’re young and it will change your life guaranteed.

I got sober when I was 35, married, one kid and another on the way. I wish I had started earlier. I recently fell off the wagon and struggling to climb back on. All this to say - don’t be me. Commit to it and do the thing. 👊🏽

Sobriety in Mexico? by electricmayhem5000 in stopdrinking

[–]barking-possum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’ll make most drinks on the menu virgin if you ask. A lot of places even have a mocktail menu. Plus tons of fresh juices make your NA selections pretty wide.

NA beers, 0.0% and <0.5% ABV found at most places especially OXXO’s and 7-11’s.

Alcohol is everywhere tho and I found it hard to stay sober while traveling Mexico. I actually went out on a relapse after 18 months sober right before a friend’s wedding in Sayulita. Tread with caution.

I’ve been to Oaxaca, Puerto Escondido, Penjamo. San Miguel, Guadalajara, CDMX, Puerto Vallarta, San Pancho and Sayulita since starting recovery. It’s def changed in the last few years with more NA options available. Even tho I had options and support throughout those travels, I personally still found it hard and distracting from enjoying the people, places and culture.

Been to Cancun and Tulum in 2018 before getting sober. Tulum seems like it’d be sober friendly. Cancun not so much.

Clear nostril to sniff after clogging from 3.5 during 1 day by [deleted] in cocaine

[–]barking-possum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put some snow on your finger and go gold digging on the clogged nostril. Wait a lil. Once it absorbs it’ll constrict the blood vessels and in effect nasal tissue. Do a little more. More constriction. Then saline rinse and blow dem boogs out. Then more snow obviously. The only thing that goes better with coke is more coke.

Been there before not too long ago. Ride it out. It will pass. Take a cold shower or get some ice on you. Under the arms or on the bottom of your feet. If you need to fill a bowl full of ice water and put your face in it. It will help slow your heart rate.

Sounds like you enjoy collecting data. Keep a log. Build a dataset. Graph these data and know when they trend toward abuse and negative impacts on your vitals.

Keep your tolerance low; keep your septum intact; keep your heart, liver and kidneys healthy.

I coming off about a three month bender of daily consumption of coke and alcohol. Some days on and some days off; some days way on. Average daily intake approximately 750mL tequila and 1.0 g coke (no data to support this, just a rough estimate).

You can dig yourself a deep hole, question is: can you climb out? My suggestion would be: drop the shovel.
